Re: Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea
Thomas Tuchel is set to become the new Chelsea manager, confirmed. Frank Lampard will be officially sacked today - Tuchel has accepted the #CFC job and is expected to sign in the coming hours.

Re: Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea
Harry Redknapp thinks Gary Neville is wrong to label incoming Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel as a “top manager”.
However, Redknapp doesn’t think he can necessarily be classed as a “great manager” because he’s only won titles in France.
“They (Chelsea) will bring a new manager in now,” Redknapp told Sky Sports News.
“I heard Gary Neville saying earlier they’ve got another great manager coming into the league.
“Who says he’s a great manager? Winning titles at PSG in France doesn’t make you a great manager. What does that prove?
“You’re quite entitled to win the league in France when you’re managing PSG. Only time will tell how good he is.”

Isn't he Lampard's uncle?

Re: Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea
Redknapp is a true Uncle to Lamps and clearly the sacking of his boy Frank stimulated this but indeed he is right that Tuchel is not great and nowhere near it.
Though definitely a good one and a very interesting appointment.

His debut lineup:
Mendy; Azpi, Rudgier, Silva, Chilwell; Jorginho, Kovacic; Ziyech, Havertz, Hudson-Odoi; Giroud
Mount seeing the bench from the first game lmfaooo.

Thomas Tuchel wrote:"We have a good mix of young and experienced players. Today I cannot choose a team after one day in training, it's not fair so this may be the most unfair line-up we ever do.
"We chose a bit more experience today because we step in in the middle of the season, it's not easy."

True, Tuchel's meagre accomplishments can't touch 'Arry's 99' Intertoto trophy and 09' league cup runners up

Re: Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea
Tuchel might be great, but old 'Arry got a point in that winning the league with PSG doesn't prove much.
Like, he might just be butthurt, but he's technically correct.
The Lampard sacking was kinda shameful though.
Still, don't expect Tuchel to perform any miracles, but I also don't expect him to flop. Will keep Chelsea in the UCL if they keep spending.

Another Germnan Dampfplauderer in this league, like with Klopp journos will begin the relation with dollar signs in their eyes, but at some point will wish he'd just shut up already, like our friends at Fox and friends did when the president called in for an hourlong chat, AGAIN

Re: Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea
I’ve never quite understood the hate towards Tuchel on here. PSG had issues, relatively speaking, both before and after he arrived, and I’m sure those issues will continue.
He got them to the final of the Champions League with a team whose overall quality largely boils down to the form of it’s offensive players. What was he expected to achieve there?

I don't either. I don't think PSG's team is all that great. They've acquired lots of mediocre players lately.

Re: Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea
I'm still not sold on him. He's sorted our defence out but is struggling to get our attack working.
At PSG he always seemed to rely on individual brilliance in attack and it cost him the CL in the end. I feel like it's trending that same way here. I hope I'm wrong.
Having said that, I'm happy to be consistently winning

Re: Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea
At PSG, he was asked to play attacking football (which is what he did at Dortmund honestly). PSG couldn't defend (and neither did Dortmund when he was there) AND they looked disjointed on the attack (that was surprising to me).
PSG played them most poorly under Tuchel in the last 10 years.
Biggest issue is his man-management. It's horrible. Both club officials and many players disliked him come year 2. Let's see what happens at Chelsea.
Surprised how defensive he's organizing things. Never seen him do that before.

Re: Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea
His man management is apparently better than Lampard's
If reports are to be believed:
Lampard didn't talk to out of favour players about why they didn't play
Lampard gave confusing instructions to players
Rudi, Alonso, Jorgi all wanted him out.
Tuchel spoke to Jorgi, Kova and Kante within days of arriving, telling them he would rotate them depending on the situation.
Mount, James, Havertz and Silva have all come out and said how much they are enjoying working with him and how well he is communicating.
I honestly think, like any top manager, he's going to clash with some people, because every top club has big personalities, and big personalities don't back down. So you'll get clashes anywhere.

I'm just surprised at how poor Lampard turned out to be at man management, honestly
We don't even need reports, we could sense it in his interviews

Lampard left CFC with 'strained relationship' with Cech.

Marina didn't want Lampard in 2019.
Chilwell, Werner & Ziyech Lampard signings, Havertz boards.
Lampard wanted clear out of older players (Rudi, Jorgi, and Alonso.) Marina said no.

I was honestly so disappointed with this. I always hoped that Lampard will be a true professional manager and will leave a mark on Chelsea, do something meaningful. But it seemed like he had too many personal agendas. I can be completely wrong though. One mate interpreted this for me when I discussed with him.
I was hoping we will get to see some great rivalry in EPL, in terms of Lampard, Gerrard or even Rooney being at the top clubs.
