From what I understand Barca is targeting these cheap options and don't just get Nolito who seems to be Lucho's wish because we are broke.

Yea the wage bill is astronomical and the we had to give all the players bonuses for each trophy won. Plus add on to the fact that we are trying to give Messi and Neymar pay raises, along with the club wanting to raise money for Camp Nou renovations. Also add to the fact we are still in massive debt, and have been for a while. That article brakes it down pretty clearly on why we don't have any room to really add a player that would need a high salary (which would rule out the big name past it scrubs like RVP since he's likely still getting paid)

The only realistic way to decrease the wage bill is to sell a big name player either this up coming summer or the next. Selling players like Rafinha or Sergi won't clear the wage bill since they arent on huge pay and plus they won't bring in allot of money. It also doesn't likely help that we have gave SO many players away for literally free or extremely small fees over the last 4 years. We could of tried hard to raise so much more money from them, but whatever it's in the past.

My guess is we sell Suarez or Messi not this upcoming summer, but the next. Neymar I would guess is untouchable given his age. Rakatic, Pique, and maybe Alba could likely still help selling, but really nobody else given either age or lack of star power/talent.

Tello just said recently he has no intention of ever returning, or if not I would of suggested bringing him back as a January back up. We could also excercise the buy back on Deulofeu or Adama. Jesus this club is run by idiots. How did they let us get in this hole

Have a gut feeling that its an indirect way of him telling the board not to sell messi as its something that is being considered currently. As strange as that might sound, its messi who the board will think bout selling. Contrary to what people think.

I dont get how this is blamed on the management. When Messi was holding the club to ransom and threatening to leave I had said the club shouldnt give in to his demands and should hold firm. Back then, everyone said that Messi deserved 20 mil after tax( without giving up image rights) and that the board should give him what he wants. The board was blamed for delaying giving Messi such an exorbitant contract.
He got the contract which kind of had a ripple contract. Invariably the contract of everyone else had to be bumped up too.
Now we are in this mess and everyone blames the board again. Its like they cant win. Damned if they do, damned if they dont.
Blame is to be shared. I blame Messi for holding the club to ransom and demanding such an exorbitant contract(without giving up image rights like Ronaldo) which in turn had a ripple effect on contracts of other players.
I also blame the board for giving in to Messi's demands. They should have held their ground and just told Messi to honor his contract.

So basically we are 3% over, in a season in which our footballers got every bonus met because we won every title. Winning is expensive, we've gone through this before. We actually posted profits of 15m so we're not even operating at a loss. The wage bill is fine.

I'm more concerned about wasting money on transfers indiscriminately, like 40m on Matheiu and Verm, than paying top salaries to attract top talent. The latest rumors all link us with terrible transfers (Pato, really?) so I don't expect this to change.

The thing is we cant afford to pay top salaries because a lot of players at the club are on ridiculously high salaries. As a result we cant take on any more superstars who would raise the wage bill even more. Probably why we are going for scrubs who would command low salaries.
Also after 73% on salaries, we have very little left for transfers. The top superstars cost more. It is imperative that a sustainable wage policy is implemented.
