Loan Watch Thread
Crowley has gone on loan to League One side Barnsley until January.
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/20150731/dan-crowley-joins-barnsley-on-loan
This one will be really interesting, as it's unusual for a 17 year old to go out on loan. Barnsley were relegated from the Championship in 13/14, and finished 12th in League One last season. Not sure if they'll be pushing for promotion this season or not.
As far as style of play goes, I don't know how Barnsley are. League One has a mixture of styles; some teams play good football on the ground, others are more reliant on crossing and set-pieces to big forwards. Crowley being quite small might find some games difficult. Oakwell, Barnsley's stadium, is a good stadium with a good pitch (it hosts England U21 games), so no worries there.
My local team, Southend, are in League One this season, so I'll be keeping an eye on the results.

I'm in favour of that move tbh.
I also can't say how Barnsley play, but it is more of the experience and game time than anything else imo. Bolton didn't play the beautiful game, but I think Jack learned some much need 'grit and steel' in his time there.

And now Hayden's loan to Hull has been confirmed:
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/20150731/isaac-hayden-joins-hull-city-on-loan
Might need to return to doing regular updates with so many interesting loan spells this season.

Re: Loan Watch Thread
Yea definitely.
Thought Arsene might keep Hayden but with Flamini supposedly staying, he is better of on loan.
Also hoping for few others to go on loan.

Was hoping Chuba would loan out in the PL.
What makes Hull an attractive choice, though?

Re: Loan Watch Thread
iirc Bruce and Wenger have a good relationship after he took Seb Larsson, Fabrice Muamba and Lord Bendtner on loan at Birmingham a decade ago and all three did very well (they signed the first two).
I think this will be good for Akpom's confidence. Hull still have a strong squad and will be in contention to come straight back up, and being there from the start of the season will help him settle in.
The first target for him should be to score his first professional goal. After that he can play 30+ games and score 10+ goals that'd be great.
Just needs to sort out loans for Martinez, Gnabry and Iwobi now.

We've found some nice clubs for our youngsters for once, aside from Crowley.
Inb4 they all fail.

Re: Loan Watch Thread
The Barnesly management quotes are pretty interesting wrt Dan Crowley though:
Having managed to fight off competition from a significant number of other clubs – most of whom were from the Championship - Head Coach Lee Johnson and Barnsley Football Club are very pleased to welcome Dan to Oakwell.
Perhaps the best current young player from the Gunners’ production line, the energetic playmaker has signed a youth loan deal at Oakwell which runs until January 3rd, 2016.
Reds Head Coach Lee Johnson said, “I’m delighted to welcome Dan on board. He is an exceptional and exciting talent who is very highly thought of at Arsenal and we are extremely pleased that we have been entrusted with his further development.
“This loan signing further evidences that Barnsley can persuade some of the country’s best young talent to come to us, even where there is stern competition. Undoubtedly, at just 17 years old, Dan is one of the best young players in his age group in Europe.
"Dan has genuine, top-level skill and quality. I am delighted Arsenal have chosen Barnsley to aid the development of this exceptional talent, as well as aiding us in our pursuit of promotion."

Szczesny made his Roma debut in a 2-0 preseason loss to Sporting.
Had two decent saves. A one on one and a point blank header but was at fault for the second, clearing a low cross back into traffic.

- Wojciech Szczesny's Roma Debut vs Sporting CP - 01/08/15:
- “I liked Szczesny, as we know he can help build moves from the back. He made two or three great saves, but could do nothing on the two goals.
“I won’t forget Morgan had a great first half and we are fortunate to have two great goalkeepers. All big clubs have two great goalkeepers and with Wojciech’s arrival we are solid.”Rudi Garcia

Two weeks ago - Wenger: "No, he won't be going out on loan. I sent him out on loan last year because I thought he needed that.
"But this season no, I plan to keep him with us. It's down to performance and attitude and he has the assets to be a big talent. And, after that, to be an efficient player week in week out, that's the target."

Re: Loan Watch Thread
He probably thought he should keep Akpom around due to Welbeck's injury, but now that Welbeck is back on training there's no need for that anymore.

That'd be some pretty short term thinking.
Then again, Welbeck is practically only here because Giroud broke his leg and Sanogo was playing like both of his were too.

Re: Loan Watch Thread
Serge Gnabry could be going to West Brom on loan:
http://news.arseblog.com/2015/08/gnabry-set-for-west-brom-loan/
On the one hand, a Premier League loan would be very good. On the other hand, it's Tony effing Pulis and his shit football.

Exactly my thoughts aswell.
I hope Pulis stops being a wanker for once and actually plays him.

I hope Gnabry stays fit and performs well on loan.He would have been a first team player by now if it wasn't for that knee injury.

Re: Loan Watch Thread
Gnabry to West Brom confirmed.
Arsène Wenger says Serge Gnabry’s loan spell at West Bromwich Albion will be crucial to his development.
The 20-year-old has not played for Arsenal’s first team since March 11, 2014 due to a long-term knee injury, but he has now returned to full fitness.
It was announced on Friday that Gnabry will move to The Hawthorns, and Wenger hopes he will gain the experience he needs.
“He has had a very tough time,” Wenger told Arsenal Player. “He was out for over a year and what he needs is competition and to compete at a regular level.
“Here, now, he would maybe not be in the first XI because he needs first to compete.
“We know he is ready to play in the Premier League but we know as well that what is needed for him is to get 25 to 30 games to show that he can produce it on a regular basis and cope with it physically.”
