Re: Thibaut Courtois
I understand. Agreed, Thimmy, but as you can see, he had more of these kind of brain farts in the past. Can't say for sure he won't continue to make a bad habit of them.

Yeah. You caught me to the punch before I could edit the post. I wasn’t aware that he was prone to making those kinds of mistakes as well

It's like there aren't world-class players left for any position any more.

I doubt Courtois wants to come back. You'd be better off getting Atleti or Getafe to sign him
Perhaps PSG will buy Oblak and you can sell him to Atleti as the replacement?

Zidane is gonna make him no. 1 so you can assume what they think of him with that one.

I've not followed him since he left Chelsea but he is a adequate GK, nothing more, nothing less.
Are the issues due to Madrid's poor season or has he actually been quite bad? I've not seen many mistakes from him. If it's the former, he'll improve next season, just like the rest of the team and I could understand Zidane keeping him around. If it's the latter, who would be a better option?

Re: Thibaut Courtois
Thibuuu has been quite terrible, his issues are self inflicted, nothing to do with the team. He was just plain bad.Kick wrote:Doc wrote:Unique wrote:i know the fans are not happy with him but what does the people at the club think of him.

you can see a team having a bad season and the keeper still doing his thing ala degea, but courtois' thing was taking goals without making saves.
I like the guy but he sucked, as simple as that.
sadly, the GK market is dry, so it would not shock me to see Zidane sticking with Keylor and Courtois on the bench.

Re: Thibaut Courtois
I doubt ZZ would like to open that can of worm next season. I think he wants there to be no debate over who is the No1. Either Navas leaves (most likely sadly) or Courtois does and ZZ rises tremendously in my estimation but that never going to happen unfortunately

And it's more or less official. Navas will be leaving in the summer and we are forced to keep this bum

Re: Thibaut Courtois
Courtois had a bad season but it's reasonable to consider that it's a one off and he will be good next year.
We allow field players to have bad years but no keepers?
We saw de Gea lifting united for years and in the past few weeks he made terrible mistakes. Does that mean he is not good anymore?

Re: Thibaut Courtois
You guys go overboard with the Thibu hate. I get it, he was not needed and he replaced a hero in Navas. Not a good season from him but it's not enough to completely get rid of him.
Unless Madrid wants to spend close to a 100 million for a top GK, which they understandably won't, Courtois will stay. I am confident he will prove himself next season.

No it's not a one off because he was quite meh for Chelsea too. You would hope he rediscovers some sense of form the same way I hope Isco rediscover his.

I really can't even begin to understand why some United fans want him out already. He's made grave errors recently, but I don't get the impression that it's been due to a lack of trying or a physical decline. He's been such a consistent rock at their back for almost a decade now. The lack of patience with him is absolutely baffling

Re: Thibaut Courtois
You can understand it when he kinda derailed our end of season, we win some of the games he was bad in, we get CL.
Emotions were high. Obviously most want to keep him. And no, Nick. This isn't a one-off. This was his worst season by far, but his seasons at Chelsea - he couldn't hold a candle to Navas. You wanted a new toy for no reason, for a reasonable price, I guess, only to realise the toy was a chinese knockoff of the version you saw at Atletico years ago.

Re: Thibaut Courtois
Courtois has some upside to him and he looks good at times, but I don't know if it because he is unsure of the defense, but he is either late or a step too early always unsure or low confidence, I think he will be better next season, I prefer kaylor but Flo was never sold on him no matter what for some reason, lunin looks alright for the future.

No, I don't understand it. You think Ole is the problem, fair enough. Blame Ole then, not the players. If you want De Gea out, that's your loss. He's made mistakes recently, but it doesn't change the fact that he deserves a statue outside of Carrington. You don't seem to have much of an idea of what the specific problems at Man United are, but selling your most reliable player over more than a decade is definitely not one of them.

Re: Thibaut Courtois
Ole is not the problem.... not at all. Lack of quality combined with unrealistic expectations = recipe for unjustified disappointment.
Man U's talent is not up to par with all the teams ahead of them. They'd need overachieve to break into the top 4 with the current squad.

Re: Thibaut Courtois

see DDG at Madrid next season, wether you want him personally or not
not really bothered if it happens either now
