Family Man - Thibaut Courtois
RM: Courtois new madrid player.
it's now official. Looks like he will be able to see his kids grow up after all.
I personally never rated this guy from day one, however he did have an impressive World Cup. hopefully we get his World Cup form him and not his club form

Re: Family Man - Thibaut Courtois
Welcome. I wish him well.
But his position was already covered, and the real position that is in desperate need of strengthening lies at the other end of the field.
Our club needs to get its priorities straight.

Re: Family Man - Thibaut Courtois
Admittedly I have not been the biggest fan of Courtois- just from a personality standpoint, but when people say he hasn't been good for club and is only good for country- I just don't understand that. He is consistently in the top for clean sheets dating back to his Atletico days.
Every keeper in the world has a bluder-reel on youtube. If you want consistency for years to come, there are VERY few keepers who have his track record at his age. People make him out to be a scrub for that 1 match messi put it through his legs. He has a lot more good games than bad.

Re: Family Man - Thibaut Courtois
Safe to say between the Ukrainian kid to Courtois, we've overkilled the Gk position as Navas wants to stay too.
lol
People paying 80 mil for a keeper is completely insane though. So getting Courtois for "cheap" (ffs) is a good move it seems.

Re: Family Man - Thibaut Courtois
According to Spanish analysts i read on twitter, not only is Courtois better than Navas but he's without a doubt an elite goalkeeper the kind Madrid has not seen since the days of Illgner due to his reach and aerial ability. This looks like a fantastic buy all things considered.

well, it's a good move regardless. he is 26, and for the price it's well done. Market will only continue to inflate at this point.
Lunin is going on loan, so we are keeping Courtois, Keylor and maybe Luca Zidane

that's really funny because casillas was better than illgner in everything goalkeeper related, not even close. note, i said goalkeeper related, before anyone posts about goalkeepers being able to do stepovers and pass like alonso

It becomes goalkeeper related when your lack of feeling with ball at your feet results in goals to the other team. That was Casillas's biggest fault.

Re: Family Man - Thibaut Courtois
casillas' biggest fault was freekicks, even then iker at madrid was still better than bodo at madrid, not even close. i hope we don't do that rubbish of having one goalie play ucl and copa and the other one play in the league, whoever is better between courtois and navas must play and find time to rotate if and when necessary....i trust this isn't our last move in the window

Re: Family Man - Thibaut Courtois
The fact of the matter is, he is an upgrade on Keylor, younger, and was incredibly cheap.
We have seen enough of him to know he will be somewhere between good and great, but is not the level of De Gea, or Neuer. And that is fine. With our setup we don't need the best GK in the world.
At the end of the day, it was good business. If we are *crossing fingers* saving money for the eventual (more likely next summer) big money bid for Mbappe or a CF phenom, then it will all be worth it.

Re: Family Man - Thibaut Courtois
not an upgrade. his only positives are that he is younger, taller with a better reach and hes better at handling the ball vs navas who likes to punch. Navas has courtois beat in reflexes and 1v1s. positioning wise they're about on par with each other.
i dont mind the signing. the opportunity was too good to pass up. but lets not exaggerate his ability to justify his signing. going into the season with Keylor Navas is no problem. Courtois is more of a luxury purchase than a strategic one. of all the positions on the pitch, GKs usually age like fine wine so as long as they dont get lazy or lose motivation in training.
in any case, l hope Courtois has a successful career here.
and finally, lol what? on the level of de gea? what. better not to be on his level as de gea is a clown when playing high pressure games. Navas AND Courtois are both comfortably better than him.
always never liked our gk targets. but at least we didnt get de gea so this transfer is already a win.

Re: Family Man - Thibaut Courtois
Casillas was a legend and a deserved legend... he relied on natural athleticism and that went away with age and the fact he didn't like to work out.
He was the best keeper in the world for a while there.

Courtois is a great keeper. Better than Navas. Not a need... but we are better as a result of this purchase even if it's not significant.

Dont edit this post when courtois starts conceding goals from crosses or gives the ball to the opposition a little too easily.sportsczy wrote:Courtois is a great keeper. Better than Navas. Not a need... but we are better as a result of this purchase even if it's not significant.
I've mocked this guy since his atletico days. i dont do such if i didnt have a reason to and courtois has given me plenty.
its gonna be weird i cant mock him anymore. well like i said, hopefully we get WC Courtois not club Courtois.
Re: Family Man - Thibaut Courtois
Club Courtois still has more league titles than us in the same time period. Wouldn’t be a bad thing.
Also that poss makes it seem like Keylor isn’t the most shaky GK out there on crosses. He’s dreadful. Just look at the goal he gifted Juve in the CL this year. Ridiculous.
Incredible shot stopper who can’t do much else. Rather have a GK with the skill set of Courtois.

Lol, yeah. I guess we can't sign any players who played for rivals. So no Thiago, we have to get rid of Theo, erase R9 Ronaldo from the record books and stay away from Neymar.

I'd stay as far from Neymar as possible. Don't want that pos to play for us, he has no shame

Erase Figo also. And Hugo Sanchez. And Laudrup. Hell, even our current coach.
