Re: Pre-Season 2015/16
I hope Crowley takes this chance to earn himself a loan move to a decent team, he needs it after a fantastic individual season with the youth team.

Squad confirmation then
Arsenal have announced a 27-man squad for the Barclays Asia Trophy in Singapore.
Arsène Wenger will be without Alexis and David Ospina following their involvement in the Copa America, while Serge Gnabry is also resting after the European Under-21 Championship.
Danny Welbeck and Tomas Rosicky will stay in England to recover from minor injuries but Calum Chambers will travel to Singapore, as will France Under-17 international Jeff Reine-Adelaide, who joined the club from Lens.
"Calum has decided to shorten his holiday and come back on Friday," Wenger told Arsenal.com. "He didn’t play in the under-21s and needs preparations.
"Welbeck isn’t completely recovered from the problem he had [at the end of last season]. He’s not back in full training so he will stay behind.
"Rosicky will stay back because he got a small injury at his last game against Iceland with Czech Republic.
"Ospina is on holiday until July 27 and Alexis is on holiday until August 3. Serge Gnabry is on holiday after playing with the under-21s. He’s back on July 20."

Re: Pre-Season 2015/16
For what was supposed to be a minor knee problem, Welbeck sure has been injured a long time. And poor Rosicky can't seem to play a game without getting injured these days.
I guess Isaac Hayden and Jon Toral would've gone if there was room, though it doesn't bode well for Toral that Willock and Reine-Adelaide are going but he isn't. Interesting that Akpom and Iwobi have been chosen ahead of Yaya Sanogo. He's probably going on loan somewhere soon.
Doesn't look like we'll ever see Wellington in an Arsenal shirt.
I think we'll see most of youngsters play the first game against Singapore, before more of the senior guys come in for the second game against Stoke or Everton.
Gnabry will be back for the Emirates Cup, but Ospina will miss it (so we may not see Ospina in an Arsenal shirt again either) and Alexis will miss the Community Shield (as we expected).

Re: Pre-Season 2015/16
So,is it a given that Silva will never play for Arsenal?
Or has be been left out because there are options in the wings and AW would prefer that he trains back in England?
Even he's on the way out,I hope its just a temporary loan move just to get used to the English way.Would love to see some Samba magic tbh.
Jon Toral also a surprising exclusion.IIRC he scored a hattrick while playing for Brentford.
Also,what about Reine-Adelaide's selection?
Kid must be seriously talented such that he's impressed AW in just a week's practice to name him in the squad.Kid's just 17 & got to play for RC Lens first team only at the end of last year.
Believe we've got some serious talent albeit in a position(AM) with some heavy competition.

Just notice Silva isn't there. Damn. He is gone for good then.
Hopefully a PL loan this time so at least we can see him from time to time.
Toral missing is strange indeed. Must be a reason. Most likely he is off.
Lille are interested in Sanogo. Hopefully they buy him rather than loan him.

Re: Pre-Season 2015/16
“It will be a very strong squad,” Wenger told Arsenal Player. “Some players are only coming back on Friday. Most of those will only play in the second game. In the first game, we’ll have the players who have come in last Monday. We’ll have a very strong team.
“You will see Jeff Reine-Adelaide, who we just brought in. We’ll see Chris Willock, Alex Iwobi, Gedion Zelalem and I don’t count Chuba Akpom, who is already with us. We’ll have a few good, young players who have a very good talent and are very promising.
“Adelaide is a player I have identified in France. He just won the European Championship with the under-17s. He was born in 1998, which is always a good year for Arsenal… you cannot have bad players in that year!
“He’s an offensive player but he can develop into an all-round midfielder as well. At the moment he plays on the right or left but I think he can develop as a central midfielder as well.”

Future World Class player with a name like that.
In reality, he will get a double ligament injury, be out till he is 22, go on AFC Wimbledon on loan for a year, Real Zaragoza for another year and then move to Besiktas at 24.

Re: Pre-Season 2015/16
I haven't seen any pictures, but I'm assuming the other first team players that were on international duty have returned as well. The squad fly to Singapore this weekend.
Of all the youngsters in the squad I'm most looking forward to seeing Crowley and Willock.
EDIT: BTW, I've corrected the kick-off times for the Asia Trophy games - the Singapore game kicks off at 13:30 BST (20:30 local time), as does the final. So an opportunity to practice those early kick offs for those with dodgy sleeping patterns.

Pic of squad about to jet off to Singapore. Looks like Toral (standing between Walcott and Chambers) has been added, seemingly in place of Reine-Adelaide:

Crowley, Willock and Iwobi are standing in front of Bellerin and behind Ramsey, Zelalem is behind Mertesacker.

Re: Pre-Season 2015/16
A bit of info on the Barclays Asia Trophy, then:
It's a four team knockout tournament that's been held every two years since 2003. One of the teams will be the national team or select XI of the hosts, while the other three are Premier League teams.
The first tournament, hosted in Malaysia, was won by Chelsea. The other tournament (winners in bold):
2005: Thailand, Everton, Man City, Bolton
2007: South China (Hong Kong), Liverpool, Portsmouth, Fulham
2009: Beijing Guoan, Spurs, Hull, West Ham
2011: Kitchee, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Blackburn
2013: South China (Hong Kong), Sunderland, Man City, Spurs
Matches are played according to Premier League rules and are officiated by Premier League and FAS officials. So don't be shocked to see Stoke kick lumps out of us and get away with as per usual.
There is no extra-time, so a draw in normal time will result in a penalty shootout.
There's a third/fourth place play-off so the losers can play a second game. Obviously we'll have to go some to end up in that game.
Every game will be played in this stadium:
The players will have the added challenge of having to cope with the heat and humidity in Singapore. A quick look at the weather forecast suggest that it's going to be 'effing hot, with temperatures due to be around 30 degrees C at kick-off. Rain and thunderstorms are also forecast. Then again, after the recent heat wave in the UK the players should be used to that.
