It's a friendly if we lose, and it's more than a friendly if we win IMO.

I think we have a team that can beat Chelsea tbh. But I don't know. Doubt Arsene will ever win against Jose.

Let's hope we complete the pre-season treble

It's not an important match, but it'd really help this team mentally to finally get a win over Mourinho's Chelsea, even in a glorified friendly. And it would be nice to continue our recent success at Wembley.

It'll probably be a typical Arsenal/Chelsea game, for the most part.

That's sort of how it usually is Laughing

It gets approached as a game that is a half-friendly (because it still is in pre-season) but then there's also a trophy involved and it gets seen as a game where you can lay the marker down for the season (against your opponent, who is often a title challegner as well and the rest of the league season). But then after the game the team that loses, their fans right it off totally as a friendly saying the season has yet to start Laughing

and the fans of winning team are adament that that is somehow a statement of intent.

This would be my team aswell, that British front 3 ffs :bow:

We already know what Giroud offers up front, no point in playing him in a glorified friendly, I want to see more of how Walcott deals with a strong opponent that defends well.

I just remember the last game against Chelsea at the Emirates, where Giroud hardly won anything against Terry. If he can't win anything against Chelsea's defence than a target man is pointless.

Walcott would find it difficult as well since they'll play deep but at least it's something different. We know that when he plays up there our midfielders will be encouraged the play forward earlier and anytime Chelsea's d-line step up he's in the game.

Costa is available, Mourinho confirmed, as is Cahill.

Wilshere is out injured according to the Mail.

Regardless, we're on par in terms of quality. It's the psychological barrier we have to finally cross to win.
