But when you have a player like that up front the key is to play early though passes otherwise that first run he makes in behind is wasted. We didn't play any through passes in that first half. That might not have been the case had Cazorla played CM. The FA Cup final is a good example of what we should be doing with Theo's up front.

Walcott actually played a big part in the goal, by firstly showing good awareness to drop off Chelsea's defensive line and into space in front of it so he could receive Ozil's pass, then to play in Chamberlain down the right.

His involvement diminished as the game went on as we became more defensive and saw less of the ball. Any striker becomes isolated in those situations. I know Arseblog made a big deal of us making more chances when Giroud was on, but with the way Chelsea were pushing up, only leaving three at the back, and going for that equalizer there was always going to be more room for counters.

Blogs is way too biased against Walcott for some reason, must have banged his sister or something.

I suppose he just doesn't rate him that highly and, in fairness, he wouldn't be the only Arsenal fan that doesn't rate Theo. He's still a polarizing player even though he's been with us for a decade so everyone should already know what sort of player he is.

So Cazorla back to being final 3rd player and play wide role again?
or was it just one off game?

I thought Cazorla played CM again only paired with Ramsey AND Coquelin instead of just Coquelin.

This could be Arsene's plan against big teams away from home, 3 man midfield to give us more protection while defending and using Özil/WalcottBenzema/Chamberlain on the counter. I expect to go back to our more familiar 4231 against weaker teams.

Tbf, against weaker team Ramsey-Cazorla is way more than enough.

We defended in a very clear 4-4-2, with Cazorla shuffling out wide. Ozil and Walcott stayed up front. Our shape when we attacked might have been a bit different but Cazorla certainly spent most of the game on the left hand side. That was in the first half, at least.

My view is that Wenger wanted Ramsey to play centrally against Chelsea so we could use his defensive qualities in a more important area of the pitch. He might have felt that Coq-Caz was inadequate protection against Hazard, Fabregas and Willian. Also, 4-5-1 would have meant Ozil having to do a lot of covering on the left flank which would have meant wasting energy better used for counter attacking.

Things will probably return to how they were at the end of last season when Alexis comes back.
