EPL 7.125 ISA 6.5
Last time I posted this EPL was at 5.25 and ISA at 5, so it looks like the EPL gained? But that's at odds with what ES posted, did I screw it up the first time?
Anyways, the mighty Man City leading the EPL point chase

Re: UEFA Coefficient development for the next seasons
For this week.
Serie A had 4 wins and a draw. = 9 points
EPL had 5 wins and a loss. = 10 points
You then divide the Serie A score by 6 teams = 1.5
And divide the EPL score by 8 teams = 1.25
I think that's how it works.

Hmm.
For some reason, 5-Jahreswertung has both England and Italy at 6.5

That's not right.
This week, Serie A Definitely got 1.5 while EPL got 1.25.
Hence, both are at 6.5 points so far.

EPL 7.125
It looks like the difference is coming from 5 bonus points Man City picked up, possibly because they are now mathematically qualified for the knock-out round?

Wouldn't Napoli get a bonus as well for qualifying in the Europa league?

Re: UEFA Coefficient development for the next seasons
It looks like teams that advance to the EL knock out rounds are not getting bonus points for it (like Molde). So assuming Chelsea, City, Juve and Roma all progress, it depends on Arsenal (or Olympiakos really) whether the EPL will get an additional 0.625 points.

Re: UEFA Coefficient development for the next seasons
Nope, Lord Spencer.
The bonus might be it.
Reaching knockouts in CL is 4 point bonus, plus 1 point for the 1/16 (+1 for quarters etc)
5/8 = 0.625 so that works
EL doesn't get the 4 point bonus for knockouts, only 1 point each for quarter, semi, final.
seems Kassies already added the bonus, while 5-Jahreswertung didn't.
Good thinking BC

Re: UEFA Coefficient development for the next seasons
At the lower end of the top 7 leagues, although way behind the top four, Portugal, Russia and France are really, really close. Russia could leap frog both France and Portugal with their points divided by 5.
Portugal 48.748 points divided by 6
France 47.249 points divided by 6
Russia 47.082 points divided by 5
Portugal 48.748 points divided by 6
France 47.249 points divided by 6
Russia 47.082 points divided by 5

Re: UEFA Coefficient development for the next seasons
I suspect that if ISA tops EPL in this year's coefficient, UEFA will assign 4 CL spots to the top 4 Leagues for the 2017-2018 season.

Again, 5 jahreswertung and kicker haven't yet included the bonus points for the teams already qualified.

Why do England get bonus points though? None of their teams have qualified?

Re: UEFA Coefficient development for the next seasons
It is going to be impossible for the EPL to overcome the nearly 4 point drop (vis-a-vis Serie A) for the 5 year coefficient for next year with all 3 Italian teams doing well in the Europa League. It could become a case of Serie A and EPL swapping 4 teams for 3 teams year to year. The Bundesliga could be part of the dance too given how close the three leagues are. Only Spain have the 4 team guarantee for the long term. We have to all admit that La Liga is dominant like the Serie A was in the 90s and the early 2000s.

Re: UEFA Coefficient development for the next seasons
Serie A might win this round, but i doubt we will keep the 4th CL spot for long. Sooner or later (probably sooner) EPL teams will step up and take EL seriously like Serie A teams did in the last couple of years. And with the huge gap in wealth, i doubt that Serie A can hold the fort for a long time

Re: UEFA Coefficient development for the next seasons
meh, this year itself Spurs and Liverpool both are taking EL seirously so I think even if the place goes to SERIE A, probably it can be for maximum two seasons !

There is a point of diminishing returns in football. La Liga earns less money than Serie A or the Bundesliga yet La Liga is far superior to the EPL in coefficient points, and looks to remain so for the foreseeable future. EPL teams play a different sort of football in their league which puts them at a disadvantage when they have to play in Europe. I suspect that Serie A will surpass the Bundesliga within the next 2-3 years given that Inter and AC Milan (2 of the 3 wealthiest clubs in Serie A) will be returning to the top 4 in Serie A soon. EPL will be competing with the Bundesliga for the 4 spots actually.

Re: UEFA Coefficient development for the next seasons
I get the sense that there is extreme optimism for EPL in this thread. Granted so far this year they are finally competing in both CL and EL, but way to soon to think they will stop Serie A from overtaking them and certainly way to early to think Bundesliga will begin to drop down. You can't overcome 2 or 3 horrendous results in a a single year. And certainly you can't get indications of what direction after just group play.
About the only thing one can conclude at this stage, is the recent Europe play of EPL teams (and improving Serie A teams) have stopped the rise of Russia, Portugal and France from creeping into top 4.
