I don't know about all that, but he hasn't really done anything since his Porter win (I know, he was stabbed).

Honestly, the whole division are just avoiding each other, all of them are scared of what might happen to their reputations if they lose.

Apparently Pacquiao isn't confident about fighting Khan Laughing

I don't know the exact reason but Manny pulled out. They say he wants to lure mayweather out of retirement but I doubt that's the reason.

Shame really. Khan needed that big fight.

Watch him fight some C grade guy now.

Khan can *bleep* off Laughing

He's been trying to ride Floyds dick all year and now Mannys, waiting like a spoil child thinking he'll get that mega fight.

Hope Floyd and Manny fight each other and then retire just to rub the salt in the wound Laughing

Anyway, are you guys gonna be watching GGG V Lemieux? Apparently, if GGG wins this, he is the best in the sport and the best middleweight since Hearns. (Let's ignore Hopkins or Jones Jr) Laughing

Sick of GGG hype. I think he is a great fighter, I agree with his fans about his qualities..but I dont understand how he has the reputation he has, despite Lemieux (who casuals have no clue about) being the best fighter he will have faced till now.

Kell Brook injured and pulling out, I was going to that fight too FML.

In regards with GGG he's got a reputation as a knockout artist so not sure what's wrong with that Laughing

@Dani doesn't matter if you're sick of GGG hype, if the guy keeps knocking out guys that gets put in front of him that hype is justified and will continue.

Let's how this fight goes. Hopefully I'll check it out live.

That's a damn shame. Was looking forward to that Brook fight as well.

In regards to GGG, he's beaten no one. The hype, ass kissing and exaggeration with him from the boxing media is that he is their new Pacquiao (this is where the Pactards have gone).

This is the guy to save boxing........ at 33 years of age........ in his first somewhat meaningful fight......... with a fanbase where the majority can't name his last 5 opponents if you asked them on the spot.

It's truly insane imo. The guy is good, but in the span of a couple of months, he has become the greatest Middleweight of all time apparently.

It's an exaggeration to say GGG has beaten no one, Anthony Joshua has beaten no one.

GGG has beaten some very good fighters some former world champs in that list too and all of them fights have been pretty one sided.

He's a rising star, not sure where you read all this best middleweight of all time stuff.

You can't claim those fakers who suddenly like GGG to be his fanbase, his hype is fair ish. He's a tad overhyped but it's all relative to other known fighters.

Come on now, we have to dig deep to find anyone he has beaten that actually coincides with the hype he is getting:

Willie Monroe
Martin Murray
Rubio
Geale

I might be forgetting some. It's like Danny Garcia (I know you love him).

Not his fault, the Middleweight division is a ghost town anyway. I mean we have a Welterweight (Cotto) with a legit chance of becoming the undisputed Middleweight champ. Laughing

Trust me, the hype is all over the place. He's the savior (whatever that means). I'm not gonna post the articles, but if you just google his name, you'll see what I'm talking about.

He's fighting Lemieux, not Ward. But one could be forgiven for making that mistake. Laughing

Yeah but they are all good solid fighters, the best MW before GGG was Sergio but you could argue that Murray won that fight.

Comparing Garcia to any fighter is just an insult, I won't go there just thinking about the guy makes me Evil or Very Mad

Either way I don't read Facebook comments from posts of yahoo sports with "fans" posting random shite.

For me this fight is getting sold as what it is, 2 power punchers in the ring which should end in a knockout.

First of all, you need to embrace Danny Garcia. Laughing

It's not Fans comments I'm talking about, this is the Boxing media that are sniffing his ass. "Journalists, Reports" all of them.

The sad part is, most of these "Journalists" didn't even pay Lemieux any attention till this fight was made. Laughing

It should end in a knockout, Lemieux had to fully strip to make the 160 weight today. Laughing

Nope, thats not his rep. His rep is undisputed top 3 p4p at least, with many calling him the the number 1.

"justified" Laughing

How? The guy has done nothing wrong, but there are fighters out here with much more impressive catalogue of wins. Nothing more GGG can do about it right now, but the answer isnt premature hype.

You tell me what's more impressive than 34 wins undefeated (31 by KO) and now on a run of some 20 consecutive matches ending in KO.
Tell me. Not much I would think.

If that's not hype worthy I don't know what is. Seems you just have a personal agenda.

More impressive than GGG? Too easy...how about

Klitscko being champ for like a decade with the highest KO % in history?

Ward not losing, period and destroying Dawson and Froch, tWo recognised elites of their divisions.

Those 2 clearly have better catalogues then GGG. Its not even a debate.

There are also others, but I can get to that in a bit, these 2 are just obviously better.

Why though would I have a personal agenda? He hasnt beat any of my favourite fighters, he hasnt beaten anyone I even care about as a fighter (my point isnt it?)

If he got the same respect I think he deserves, there would be no problem..but people talk about him like they talk about Pacquiao, Floyd, Jones Jr and co. at the height of their powers.

I will end like this. Forget about the first set of names, the guys are universally recognised elites, everyone knows Ward and Klit are the best. But please, just answer this. I will name 4 fighters in a row, the best 4 some other boxers have beat...then I will list GGG's....then tell me which list of 4 is the least impressive

Matthysse, Khan, Erik Morales and Lamont Peterson

Pacquiao, Marquez, Devon Alexander and Peterson

Trout, Lara, Angulo and Mosely.

Sergio Martinez, Margarito, Mosely prime, Judan Prime

Darnell Boone, Jean Pascal, Bernard Hopkins, Nathan Cleverly

Lucian Bute, Mikkel Kessel, Arthur Abraham and Andre Dirrell

And then we have GGG

Murray, Lemineux, Monroe and Geale.

Come on dude, the difference in the names here are massive.

Who here can ever accurately describe how any of these 4 guys fight?

What makes GGG record better than Rigo, Crawford and Wilder?

Crawford beat Gamboa, Rigo beat Donaire, Wilder beat Stiverne..which of GGG opponents are better than any of these guys? Laughing

Wilder knocks even more people out and he is clearly the worst fighter of the 3.

The only argument one can have is about GGG skills, not his record, not who he has beat.

eh , i'd say GGG's record is clearly better than wilder's .

Wilder beat one single top 10 ranked fighter ffs . and steverne was a fringe contender who picked up a vacant belt ....
how is Stiverne better than Geale or Murray ?
Golovkin destroyed 7 top 10 ranked fighters and  just unified two belts .

GGG looks unbeatable and I don't see anyone that's going to challenge him imminently.

That said since I'm too lazy to read the whole thread does anyone here actually box? Have any of you trained with some of the pro boxers of today or the past?

Also, who is everyone's favourite all time fighter?

Beating 7 of 10 ranked fighters really dont say much in a dead division.

160 is horribly average outside GGG himself, a blown up Jr Middle in Cotto and I guess Peter Qullin?

Andy Lee, Bily Joe Saunders, Lemieux and Daniel Geale? Who are these guys really? Good fightes, but nobody special at all. Cotto beat the same guys and nobody puts him higher than GGG.

When GGG fights at 154/155 catchweight vs Cotto, Canelo, Lara or goes up to fight Ward...then after that we can start talking about him as P4P best. Before those fights...meh.

Wellll since none of you are going to get it started...

My favourite (and IMO best all time p4p in his prime) fighter of all time was Roy Jones Jr. Maybe you guys already discussed this earlier in the thread (I'll have to read through it at some point). Nobody touches RJJ for me...his unique combination of speed, power, reflexes and ring generalship were unmatched and his historic feat of climbing the weight classes (light mw to hw champ, even if Ruiz was a convenient HW to do it with) is really impressive. It sucks how he declined after making the drop to fight Tarver, but it was pretty obvious that the weight cut was not done properly or over a long enough period. I still have all of his fights on an external hard drive.

In terms of actually training I boxed for about 8 years (had to quit when I got married) but I got to train with Tyson Fury which was pretty cool.
