The fact it's over anything. Could name a 100 better movies from 2014.
Life Itself, Lego Movie, Nightcrawler + Gone Girl, Gyllenhaal.
Those are the snubs imo. Other than that it's fine.

Interstellar too
Best Actor was really competitive. Jakie G, McConaughey, Tom Hardy, Miles Teller all were great this year.

"I wrote a joke about Interstellar getting nominated for best sound mixing, but you can't hear it because the music's too loud"
- some guy on twitter
Hardy will never get recognition, so I won't bother mentioning him.

Re: Oscars 2015
Lack of Nightcrawler in the noms is annoying. Easily the best movie of 2014. Jake doesn't even get a nom for best actor. smh. Hopeful Cooper doesn't win it (can't stand him).
Watch Selma sweep the awards. And you know why.

It's a three horse race atm, Birdman, Boyhood and Grand Budapest. Really pulling for Birdman to do it. Didn't love the two others.
Nightcrawler and Whiplash my favourites of the 2014. Doubt Whiplash can win it.

Re: Oscars 2015
I also gotta say I'm quite surprised about the amount of love Grand Budapest got.
I mean I like the movie very much, but if anything was deserving about that movie it was a best actor nom. for Ralph Fiennes.
Wes Anderson for best director is strange, because how is this film in terms of style different from his others?

Selma can't sweep, since it's only nominated for one award.
Brendan Gleeson should have been nominated. Calvary got screwed all around.

at least people recognised the beauty.
Not seen most of the nominated best movies. But I highly doubt American Sniper, The Theory of Everything or Selma were better than Interstellar.

Don't understand any American Sniper nom... Interstellar getting sound editing and mixing baffles me. Others were deserved. Dawn will deservedly win effects.

Boyhood and Nightcrawler out in 1080 I think
Dawn can't not win tbh, the performance capture technology was revolutionised by that film

It was really really beautiful on the eye. Specially the 'rain scene' involving Caesar.

Re: Oscars 2015
eff it.
Gonna download me those Birdman and Imitation Game screener prints.
Pumped for Birdman. I think it is the only one that has got what it takes to beat my 8.9/10 Gone Girl.

Didn't the same thing happen to Prisoners?
Jake picking brilliant movies that he acts fantastically in and doesn't get any recognition
Enjoying the love The Grand Budapest Hotel is getting, Wes Anderson getting some well deserved recognition.
Haven't seen Birdman or Boyhood yet, and I would love to see both. Especially Birdman, I didn't think it would get this much love, and I certainly want to see it because of my man crush on Edward Norton.

Re: Oscars 2015
I still think interstellar got robbed tbh, don't care what the film snobs say.
I'm calling it like this:-
Picture: Boyhood
Lead Actor: Eddie Redmayne
Lead Actress: Julianne Moore
Support Actor: J.K. Simmons
Support Actress: Patricia Arquette
Directing: Richard Linklater
Cinematography: Birdman
Yes I think Boyhood will probably steal the lot.
Surprised The Lego Movie didn't make animations in what was a pretty weak year for animated films.

Gyllenhaal omission is the travesty of a century. BAH GAWD I hope they all lose. What a joke.

1. 93% white
2. 76% male
3. an average age of 63

I think that's all the more reason for this one to get a nomination. I believe he should win best director for one of his films.. and this is probably his best to date.
