Can't give Ramos or Costa anything because of how utterly disgraceful they were at the WC and at NT in general... that's too huge a handicap.

Besides, Benzema scored more goals than Costa this CY for club(26 for Costa while Benz had 28 and then NT is no competition of course) and his assists were exponentially higher... so i don't see how that's debatable too much either.

seriously, he was easily the most memorable player in the WC. Announced his name in household football. Went on to prove that he can just be as good as Ozil and Di Maria for Madrid and has the potential to get better.
Plus, he has scored a few crackers this year, among them the best goal of the world cup.

Stop the annual jizzfest on Ronaldo/Messi because we already know what they're capable of.

Benzema was my 2nd pick.. i was actually about to choose him over Costa but I put Costa since it was his breakout year really and he was extremely prolific for Atletico. I chose Ramos because he was the deciding factor in the CL final.. and you chose Hummels because he was the deciding factor vs France, right? but at club level for 2014- Ramos beats Hummels imo

It's all debatable because the criteria for choosing players here is all over the place. If you bring up the WC and the weight it holds(I agree it should hold more weight) then Ronaldo shouldn't be anywhere near your list or anyone's tbh. might as well have everyone makes two lists, one factoring in the NT/WC and one solely for club

The thing with Ronaldo is that of the other dominant players had a great WC.  Messi was meh, Ibra didn't make it, etc.  He was so dominant at club that, for someone to take over the deficit, the needed to be right behind him when looking at club performances AND be really good at the WC.

As far as Benz or Costa... since Benz scored more goals than Costa (28 compared to 26) and has 20 assists too (Costa had 4 for the CY lol) for club... then his NT performances should put him WAAAAY ahead of Costa.  He just does so much more than him.

Hala...  Costa was just as poor to start 2014 and then in May again.  Difference is that Atleti made his injury public while Madrid didn't because they needed to sell Benz as a threat with Ronaldo, Di Maria and Bale all injured and unable to play.  Benz had fluid in his right knee and a sore hamstring...  the issues started in late March.  He was given 2 weeks off after the CL final and then another 10 days when he joined the WC squad because they got it drained after the CL final.  He only played the last friendly before the WC for France because they needed to test his fitness.

The guy decides to help his team and stay out there because of lack of bodies despite being injured YET you count that against him?  Wtf dude?  

Not to mention the stats for the CY:

Costa - 26 goals/4assists for club and 1 goal/no assists for Spain
Benzema - 28 goals/20 assists for club and 7 goals/6 assists for NT with a very good WC

Benz doesn't get hyped because that's reserved for Bale and Ronaldo... that's the ONLY reason he's not as public as Costa. I don't even understand you people tbh.

Benzema was poor for large strectes of last year but he was injured so that didn't go in his favour. Costa cut his knee open scoring a goal against Getafe and was available the next game and even scored. You cant doubt that guys excellence last season. Costa was injured for as much as Ronaldo in the second half of the season but he kept going because Atleti had no other offensive goal threat. We can blame Carlo for running everybody to the ground but imo Costa was slightly superior. This season however Benzema has been the best CF so far but we haven't won anything major so I decided to base that award on the business end of last season when we gave up on LaLiga while Atleti kept going eventhough they had a smaller squad than us and Costa coming in and out through inuury

I dont doubt Benz is a better goal scorer than Costa and any other forward bar Suarez, Messi and Ronaldo when he decides to work hard but you and I both know goals scored doesnt tell the full story. If goap scored was what we measured players excellence on Bale would be deemed one of our best players which he is very very very extremely far away from the truth. There are some games a forward wont have scored but he did so many other things great. Some people especially gil would be like oh he didn't score therefore he's been crap.

So you completely discount Benz' NT excellence and Costa being a complete flop for Spain????  Let alone Benz puts Costa to shame statistically for club too.

Costa went the entire month of January without a goal last year...  that's 7 games. It cost Atleti their La Liga lead and CDR.  Benzema went exactly the same number of game scoreless after the Barca classico in March.  Carlo finally sat him because his knee was the size of a grapefruit and he couldn't move.  Cortizone shot and then he put him right back out there because Ronaldo and Di Maria were both injured.   So why is Benz' 7 game stint worse than Costa's??? So playing at 60% (which is what Benz said he played the end of the season) worse than just sitting it out?

Costa played his first game for Spain like 2 weeks before the WC. I am and will not count his wc towards anything other than an adjustment period

Costa played for a defensive team yet scored so many decisive goals that took Atleti to the CL final and won them the league. A tiny little goal drought when he was playing inhuman for pretty much the whole season is nothing, all forwards go through drought at one point or another during the season. Do I need to drag out the benzema thread to referesh your memory of what people thought of Benzema last season???? Benzema was not even in the top five of forwards last season ffs. I know he is your favourite player and all but lets show some perspective here. Benzema was poor from August till November and then from February till the end of the season, now I know the first half of last season does not count but I am just showing you how misguided your opinion is. This season he is different but last season he was poor
