Re: GL 2014 Football Awards
I think the fullback positions troubled me the most. Lahm and Alaba have both spent so much time in central midfield positions with Rafinha and Bernat instead playing out wide, the latter of whom has had a strong second half of the season. I know that Luis hasn't played regularly since his transfer to Chelsea but I still wanted to acknowledge him for his play at Atletico. I also know that Kroos has played a deeper role at Madrid but given that his time was split between Bayern and Madrid and of course Germany I still thought it appropriate to include him in the CM category for convenience.

Well Hala... we have several aspects where we see ENTIRELY different things and it's not only with Benz. To say that Benz had a poor season last year is beyond ridiculous so i'm not even going to give that the benefit of a rebuttal. Waste of time.

Re: GL 2014 Football Awards
I don't think a calendar year means anything in football. I rather go by season's. Which is why Filipe Luis is in despite not playing at all this season.
1) Best Goalkeeper of 2014 - Neuer
2) Best Left Back of 2014 - Filipe Luis
3) Best CB of 2014 - Godin
4) Best Right Back of 2014 - Lahm
5) Best DM/Regista/DLP of 2014 - Gabi
6) Best CM(B2B, playmaker etc) of 2014 - Kroos
7) Best CAM(SS counts) of 2014 - Muller
8 ) Best Left Forward of 2014 - Ronaldo
9) Best Right Forward of 2014 - Robben
10) Best Central Forward of 2014 - Messi
11) Best Manager of 2014 - Simeone
Frankly, I can't see how Carlo is being voted for more than Simone. I like Carlo, but Simone did something with Atleti that is simply not easily accomplished any year.

Re: GL 2014 Football Awards
For the same reason you are not spelling his name correctly, he's not a household name and is not as famous. In end of the year lists fame counts for more than individual merit. That's how people like Pique consistently make these lists in spite of having a terrible year.

I am just bad at spelling, and I am writing this from an airport.
You would think a football forum would have knowledgeable members who would vote based on merit, not on fame. Hint, the reason I usually call Anceloti Carlo is because I am not sure what the spelling of Ancellotti is.

Re: GL 2014 Football Awards
Simeone would take my vote if we were analyzing the 13-14 season, but for the calendar year it has to be Ancelotti imo. Carlo had a great 13-14 season + even after he lost Di Maria and Xabi, he managed to fit James and Kroos (something that many people would think impossible) in Madrid's lineup and made their team even better in this first half the season. I mean, he is about to have the best winning streak in history of club football.

Re: GL 2014 Football Awards
Simeone also lost Costa (his top goal scorer), Luis (one of his best defenders) and Courtois (one of the best GK of 13-14, all tho a loanee) and were he has Atleti currently isn't all that bad. I would say its quite even with both of them imo.

Re: GL 2014 Football Awards
I know there is the obvious difference in player quality (and that Ramos goal in the last minute lol) but in the end of the day Carlo is the one who won the CL, copa and is in charge of the best team in the world atm.
Also, it's not like Ateltico sold their best players and didn't replace them...I would say that GK is the only position they downgraded by a large margin based on last season.

I'm not denying that, but winning the league ahead of Barcelona/Madrid, as well as a CL final appearances and getting the better of RM in head to head showdowns this season isn't an easy feat. I'm not saying Carlo doesn't deserve it all I'm saying is Simone to me is an equal candidate to Carlo and either or can win it, its not a ground to sky difference between them.
Luis is department is also a downgrade, only Costa isn't as Mario is doing just fine.

Re: GL 2014 Football Awards
1) Best Goalkeeper of 2014: Neuer
Easy
2) Best Left Back of 2014: Alaba
It would have been Filipe but he is not playing as much as he used to with Atleti. So Alaba for consistency through and through
3) Best CB of 2014: Ramos Hummels was a beast but Ramos also had some dominant CL performances and too many clutch moments.
4) Best Right Back of 2014: Lham easy
5) Best DM/Regista/DLP of 2014: Kroos
Alonso was great here but Kroos was great both with bayern and madrid and fantastic in the world cup
6) Best CM(B2B, playmaker etc) of 2014: Di Maria easy
7) Best CAM(SS counts) of 2014: messistrongly consisered voting Mueller here but...
8 ) Best Left Forward of 2014: Robben
9) Best Right Forward of 2014: Cristiano
10) Best Central Forward of 2014: Benzema
Benzema for consistency stats and how much he involves everyone
Best coach of 2014: Carlo winning la decima easy
12) Best overall player of 2014: Robben co
Consistency wise Robben was the Best imo. Great season in Bundi and fantastic world cup. His performances overall have been the best of the season imo. He dominates the bundi and led his team in thw world cup where he was clearly the main star of his team. CR has had a blast scoring for fun but he was never key in madrid winning trophies this season except supercup vs sevilla. And he was shit in world cup. Performances are more important than goals to me. It was close but for the world cup i gove it to robben

Re: GL 2014 Football Awards
1) Best Goalkeeper of 2014: Neuer
2) Best Left Back of 2014: Really difficult, can't put Marcelo because of his pathetic world cup and can't put Luis because he hasn't played at Chelsea. I'm going with Alaba.
3) Best CB of 2014 - Hummels
4) Best Right Back of 2014 - Lahm. Although he played the majority of the year in midfield (which is why I have him there was well) he showed at the WC he is still the best fullback in the world by a distance.
5) Best DM/Regista/DLP of 2014 - Lahm
6) Best CM(B2B, playmaker etc) of 2014 - Kroos
7) Best CAM(SS counts) of 2014 - Messi. Difficult as I don't really know whether he falls under CAM, playmaker or center forward
8 ) Best Left Forward of 2014 - Ronaldo, no question
9) Best Right Forward of 2014 - Robben. One of my favorite players and his sheer consistency and ability to change games was remarkable.
10) Best Central Forward of 2014 - Ibra. He may not have won the WC and he's had injury problems this season, but he has still performed at a high enough level to merit his choice above Costa or Benzema.
11) Best Manager of 2014 - Simeone. I would've loved to put Van Gaal because as I've said before, his fantastic WC will be remembered for a long time. Can't say no to a miracle worker like Simeone though.
12) Best overall player of 2014 - Robben. Although he wasn't among the top 3 for the Balon d'or (disappointingly) and as such I've stated I want Neuer to win it, I personally believe he's been the best this year. He's always been an exciting player that I've liked and this year he finally maintained his world class form for its entirety.
2) Best Left Back of 2014: Really difficult, can't put Marcelo because of his pathetic world cup and can't put Luis because he hasn't played at Chelsea. I'm going with Alaba.
3) Best CB of 2014 - Hummels

8 ) Best Left Forward of 2014 - Ronaldo, no question
