M99 wrote:Have to say, Dragon Age Inquisition is quite good. The fetch quests are only in one area of the game which unfortunately is the starting area so people have the perception the game is filled with them. The story is very impressive, one of the best Bioware ever done imo.
I like DAI, but honestly, the fetch quests are on every single map in the game. The majority of the quests are fetch quests, and there are tons of collectible items, not to mention having to collect ore and herbs for potions and weapons/armor, which is something that becomes a very tedious and boring task after a while. Collecting herbs is definitely faster and easier to do in The Witcher 3, thus not as bothersome.
DAI introduced a top-down strategical system to try and add more depth to battles, but I grew tired of using it very fast, and it makes battles frustratingly and unnecessarily long. I enjoyed using different classes and trying out new spells in DAI, but the battles are very automated when you don't use the tactical system. You basically just press one or two buttons and wait for cooldowns to clear, so that you can push them again. It's not a bad combat system at all, but it's not exactly a challenging one either. There are a few things I like more about Dragon Age Inquisition than The Witcher 3, but overall there's no contest. The Witcher 3 is a far superior game.
I actually think the online mode in DAI is pretty decent, but it becomes repetitive fast. A lot of people seem to really dislike the online mode, and I understand why, but I enjoyed playing it for a while before I realized how repetitive it is, and how pointless it is to continue playing it once you've unlocked all of the classes and gotten a decent amount of good equipment. The point of it is to improve your gear and unlock new classes, and you do so by repeating the same 3-4 maps over and over and over again, until they release more through DLC

Re: General Games Discussion
I wanted to play Dragon Age, but after playing Witcher 3 and experiencing how awesome the decisions are handled( not the standard good and bad crap that Bioware usually does) and how great the side quests are i have certain expectations now.
I will unfairly hold the game to that standard, maybe that isn't fair but i know i will so i'd rather not play it at all. It's probably a great game but i get the feeling i won't see as such now and it's probably best i don't bother with it.

The great Trey Barker praised the game in an interview with IGN. I'll definitely check it out.. eventually

It's goty if you're bad at videogames because dieing allows you to create an interesting narrative and make your own story out of the game. Efficient/good gamers will get bored as the game becomes too easy.

That was my one complaint about Shadow of Mordor. It gets really, really easy. When you get a grasp of mechanics and get a bunch of perks you can pretty much take on any amount of enemies at once provided you keep concentrating.

Agreed. I never actually finished the game though I went quite far in it. It was not challenging at all by that point. The game was well worth my money though, had a lot of fun with it.

Would be cool to have CL & EL in fifa but seems like that's not happening anytime soon. It's already competitive with the current trophies but it'll be more fun with CL/EL tourney's instead of generic cup 1 & 2 and generic shield

Speaking of which PES gets revealed tomorrow, the only thing we know so far is Nerman is the cover star and Totti's selfie celebration is in the game lol.

PES? More like POS. They're just getting the license to spite EA. They know they're not as good as FIFA and won't be for the foreseeable future.

Re: General Games Discussion
Eh? Not their fault lol, that's on Sony and Microsoft. It's a system problem. Neither Xbox One or PS4 allows image file sharing so it wasn't possible.
Not exactly their fault lol.

Still, they could've just made it an in-game thing where online peeps upload and download each other's content, much like Little Big Planet

No they couldn't, they would have been sewed.
Sharing levels is one thing but sharing kits based on real teams and sponsors is asking for a law suit. Which is why they are not completely open about the editing of kits.

Or because they want their game to be as good as possible lol?
Besides not like EA doesn't do the same thing locking down Premier League and Bundesliga.

Re: General Games Discussion
Even with the edited licenses the game just doesn't seem appealing enough. It feels like some underdog underground alternative to FIFA, when instead it should be going toe to toe with FIFA and rivalling it. You can just tell from the shoddy menus, like in the corner it say's something like 'we've fixed connection issues for H2H', feels like some cheap arcade PS2 game. Simple things like that give out the vibe that they accept that they're the underdog in the battle for supremacy with FIFA. They need to market the game better, improve the menus, improve online, in fact improve everything that isn't the gameplay, since that's the only thing they're better than FIFA at.

Re: General Games Discussion
You ask it to go toe to toe with FIFA yet complain when it does something which helps them rival FIFA lol.
Seems legit.

Re: General Games Discussion
Thing is though they've had the UEFA license for ages and they've never gone toe to toe with FIFA. Having the license seems to be a big deal for PES. Do EA boast about having the PL license? No, because it's simply a small part of the game. Whereas for PES it's a huge deal and by now it's obvious they simply have it to get a one up on EA.

More like educating people tbh, also MT are you serious lol? having licensed PL is a massive part of EA's marketing campaign every damn year lol.

Fair enough
I still can't see why both games (PES and FIFA) can't have all the rights for every league/team/etc. Why are the rights designated to one entity? They can make much more money if the rights were purchasable at a pre-determined fee.
Only in a perfect world ffs

Re: General Games Discussion
Imo it just feels as if PES rely heavily on the CL license to draw for them. It's like the license itself is a big fish in a small pond and PES are taking advantage of that.

Because it's a business and they lock the other one out, they both are guilty of it.
In an ideal world licensing would be free to both games but it's not gonna happen.
