And we haven't depended too much on injury-prone Costa so far? One injury to him and then what?
Shed, we haven't done that bad without him. Right?

Re: What are your expectations?
We've played 4 games without him; one against Crystal Palace, one against a Slovenian minnow, one against a fourth division side (whom we needed an own goal to beat), and one against United (whom we drew against).

Still, those are the ones we struggled in without CF's last season.

Re: What are your expectations?
We beat Swindon last season (closest comparison we have to Shrewsbury), beat Steaua (closest comparison we have to Maribor) and got the same result at United. Only difference was winning at Crystal Palace, but that was much more down to team actually giving a shit in it this time than having a striker up front.

Re: What are your expectations?
Palace basically cost us the title last season. I fail to see how we didn't care about that game, We're playing much better this year anyway.
Point being, even without Costa, we're fine.

Lmao, you must have been watching a different game last season than the rest of us were then.
Shocking performance.

It's not like we didn't try, they just parked the bus and we couldn't break it. They scored through an OG and we couldn't come back from it. Sure it was a bad game, but you can't say we didn't care about it.

Re: What are your expectations?
You're right. Our own manager just said we had "no balls" after it just for the hell of it. Silly me.

Re: What are your expectations?
I seem to recall us hitting the post at least once during that game, had we scored our numerous chances then, we'd have won and no one would talk about it.
This season, Our CF's (all of them) are converting chances more than last. Improvement.

Re: What are your expectations?
My point is we've not yet really been tested without Costa.

Re: What are your expectations?
I'd say Utd was a test, which Drogba proved himself. If it wasn't for the poor Red, we'd have won.

Re: What are your expectations?
Would we have won that game if Costa had started? I believe we very well may have done.
That is the point I'm making.

All I am saying is that we're not totally screwed without Costa.

I know, because we don't have Torres anymore

Re: What are your expectations?
Torres we all knew. We were just as good without him as with him (well, even better actually...)
Costa is still an unknown. And unless we're really tested without him at some point and then and only then see the results of it, I'm not willing to declare wins over powerhouses Crystal Palace, Maribor and Shrewsbury Town as proof we're a-okay in his absence.

At least the difficult part of our pre-christmas fixture is over.

Kick wrote:So we're 6 games into the season (including CL) and we're on 4 wins, 2 draws and 0 losses.
Where do you expect us to finish in the PL, CL, COC and FAC?
I honestly am expecting:
1st in the EPL, it's Jose's second season, we look the part while all of our other competitors look inconsistent, poor or both.
CL, Quarters or Semis, I am not too bothered about the CL, knockouts is a must but beyond that, I don't mind.
COC, don't care, make it through a few rounds with some reserve players.
FAC, I'd like a decent run in this, perhaps to the semi's or even winning it, but I won't be bothered if we don't.
