Little bit Francis Coquelin syndrome.

Shown a lot of fight, winning tackles even and becoming more and more confident going forward. Transfermarkt says his contract expires at the end of the season. If that's true, would expect the club to approach him over an extension soon.

Let's first see how he goes on over the rest of the season until March then we can start thinking about an extension.

But then again we can't let him go for free. Even if we end up selling him for only 3 million.

Credit where it's due, he's performed pretty decently as of late. I was beginning to give up hope but maybe he'll pull through.

Campbell has shown more development and can see him get even better. That pass for Giroud was just pure class.

Think he's shown he's deserving of an extension at the very least. Coquelin got one a month or two after becoming a starter. Not saying Campbell is as integral as Coq was or that he's cemented his position as a starter yet but he has shown enough quality to warrant hanging onto.

Even if we don't want to keep him long term, we can atleast make some good money off him. Should offer him a new contract ASAP.

I know but is it worth giving him a new contract. Might as well wait till Summer.

Rather tie him down while he's still getting minutes on the pitch. Would only be that much more difficult in the summer.

I have actually warmed up to Joel a lot more in the last couple of months. Better squad option than Ox atm - who'd've thought.

Yeah I am not sure about the 6 months thing. If that were the case, there should be a lot more noises and clamoring for pre-contract and stuff.

The only halfway credible report I have seen is from some Turkish radio station linking him to Galatasaray.

Given that he's been on an upward curve, there should be a lot more noise.

AND we wouldn't let a relatively promising youngster's contract run down to less than a year.

That's why I came up with the 18 month timeframe - it would seem more credible.

You just came up with it? As in, you didn't see it anywhere or have any reason to believe it'd be a year longer than it is according to transfermarkt?

Going by what Campbell has said, it seems he's happy with the chances he's been given and thinks he has a chance here. With that in mind, he's probably been given assurances that he's earned a new contract which would make sense of the fact that clubs haven't been climbing over each other to sign him.

Difficult to tell with fringe players who suddenly become important a la Coq.

You were closer to the mark than me.

Arsenal confirmed that he signed a new deal before he joined Villarreal on loan in January 2015. His contract before that was due to expire in 18 months meaning 6 months from now. Don't know how long he has remaining but it's more than 6 months for sure.

Definitely has a future here though and is worth tying down to a new deal.

If he signed one in Jan 2015, then there should be at least 2.5 years left of it hmm

Express say his current deal runs until 2018 but Arsenal are still working to get him on an extension worth £60kpw.
