Re: Luis Suárez : el Vampiro
I agree, on talent alone Messi is just purely better than Suarez and there's no shame in that, Esp in ball control and vision. but saying Suarez is balon D'Or level material (and rightfully so) isn't as surprising as we're making it out to be. I think players should be compared solely on their peaks (especially with a team built around them).
Yes, messi is clearly a level (all by himself at that) above Suarez but Suarez isn't some 3 levels inferior to him as some might suggest. But, I consider Suarez more unpredictable which is a very important/rare factor for a forward e.g R9, IBRA.
Meanwhile I comfortably say that Suarez isn't inferior to ronaldo in anyway except some few things like speed (not quickness) and positioning.
So, yeah, Messi is an undisputed no 1, and Suarez is arguably better than CR7 too. I think many football fans tend to have short term memories too tbh we too often forget what these players have done for their previous clubs in the past or NT performances.. We have forgotten the messi of 2-6 years ago and we've also forgotten what Suarez did in Liverpool and is doing with Uruguay, ffs, Gil even called Neymar a poacher last week.
So, there's that!

Re: Luis Suárez : el Vampiro
how odd.. considering he has been training with the full team and everything since before deportive game.
we can handle athletic with neymar messi up front..
but we need him for juve.

Re: Luis Suárez : el Vampiro
Bilbao has some injuries as well, and we are playing in the Camp Nou. I think I would have Suarez on the bench but only would use in case of an emergency. I too believe we can beat them without Suarez. We really do need him for the Champions League final though, so a rest would be ok with me depending on how bad his injury is.
Also, might be a good time for someone to start the Bilbao final thread

If we can take care of Atleti without Suarez then Athletic don't pose more of a problem without him. Like others said, it's Juve we need him for.

Re: Luis Suárez : el Vampiro
I would rather give him rest for the Juve game than using him in CDR even if we loose the cup. the only problem is he would then be playing the Cl after a month break...

I didn’t know it was that troublesome

Re: Luis Suárez : el Vampiro
Media says thigh muscle discomfort but I've noticed that under Enrique the injuries and estimated recovery times are kept rather secret compared to previous seasons. I suppose to keep the opponents guessing. He could very well have a harmstring injury. It's already over 2 weeks that he didn't play.

Marca wrote:The Uruguayan Footballer's Union is set to request that Luis Suárez's ban be overturned in light of the FIFA corruption scandal.
"If Luis Suarez agrees, we will ask for the suspension to be lifted, given that he was suspended by a body suspected of corruption", explained the organisation. They argue that several people who were involved in deciding on the striker's punishment are involved in the corruption scandal.
Suárez is unable to play for his national team and will miss out on the Copa América in Chile after FIFA slapped him with a nine-game ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini during a Brazil World Cup game.

Re: Luis Suárez : el Vampiro
The former Liverpool star would also like someone at FIFA to admit at some point that the ban he picked up during the World Cup in Brazil "was over the top".
"People on the committee know that the ban was excessive. They know it. Just as I know I regret it and said that I made a mistake, I'd like someone to say, 'We gave him that ban and we made a mistake'. That would be the fairest and most decent thing to do", explained Suárez.

Re: Luis Suárez : el Vampiro
Well, he's entirely correct, FIFA wantes to make an example out of him, and they gave him an excessive punishment...

Re: Luis Suárez : el Vampiro
I'd argue the punishment isn't excessive, as he received two bans for biting prior to it, and yet he bit again on both occasions. It remains to be seen whether this punishment is long enough. If he doesn't bite again, the punishment was the correct length, while, if he does bite again then the punishment isn't long enough

Re: Luis Suárez : el Vampiro
Finally some recognition for the genius of Suarez.
Among the final 3 for the Uefa Best Player in Europe award.Should have deservedly won the award last season when he was the undisputed best player in the world but didnt even finish in the top 10.
He will place third without question but atleast he will be on the podium. An all time great like him deserves atleast one podium finish. It is a credit to his genius that he has been named among the top 3 in spite of his reputation.
The nutmeg assist for Rafinha

Re: Luis Suárez : el Vampiro
Another golazo. He has been unbelievably clutch for us ever since he joined. Almost all his goals have been crucial and been either game winners or ones which have given us the lead. Hardly remember any meaningless goals in blowouts.
Guy is slow as a turtle though. One of the slowest CF's I have seen. Barely ever outruns anybody. I think that is the only weakness in his game. Otherwise he is the most complete CF the game has seen since MVB and imo he is as good as the Dutchman ever was.

Re: Luis Suárez : el Vampiro
What a signing he has been. He clearly provides some x factor upfront. We can be very nerdy and teams tend to bully us. Lusito is the badass we need imo bullying defenders always darting through defence.

Yeah exactly. His ability to finish in tough situations is extraordinary. If only he was just a tad faster

He is slow. Mention one game and instance where you have seen him outpace a player.I have very rarely seen him outpace anyone one on one.
Mention a CF who is slower than him. I cant think of any good ones.

Re: Luis Suárez : el Vampiro
Ya I agree he is not conventionally fast but due to his low center of gravity always does dat trademark Suarez turns and darts through defence making him luk fast

Re: Luis Suárez : el Vampiro
Well, for instance the goal he scored vs. Madrid at home last season. He was quite fast there. Didn't "outrun" Pepe and ramos per se, but he kept up with their speed ok, and they are some of the fastest CB in the game.
Definitely not a turtle:
I think that Suarez has a tendency to get fat, so he naturally looks slower at the begining of the season when he has to get in shape.

Re: Luis Suárez : el Vampiro
He's no slower than Benzema or Ibra. The thing with Suarez is that he has very elite explosiveness which is really all the speed he needs with the way he plays. He's not really reliant on pace.
