He has always spoken of wanting to coach the Italian NT and I'm sure almost everyone would want him to.

However, the reality is that Allegri or Mancini will be the new coach.

Rebuilt the team only to take it full circle 4 years later and crash out of the groups again

Best of luck to him, probably end up succeeding again at club level but at international level he's been so indecisive. Even though the EURO 2012 campaign was a success, the fact he changed from 3-5-2 when it was working perfectly was the first sign of clueless coaching.

Since then, Italy have used 10 (maybe 11 now) different formations, even experimenting during the World Cup. There's no tactics when building attacks at all, the team had no identity and just looked confused more often than not.

Also, went 9 months without winning in a friendly match. Mainly due to super indecisiveness. Friendlies mean little, but 9 freaking months? Against some pub team opponents too.

Prandelli is a very good manager. He tried to get Italy to play positive football... but in the end, he became conservative for whatever reason today. Overall, a very positive influence.

i hope italy doesn't hire a manager that would revert the NT to its old style of playing, which i hated.

Better yet, hope Prandelli changes his mind.

Prandelli took a shit god awful Italy 2010 team and made it respectable again. He is by no means a poor manager.

And he realised he couldn't take Italy further anymore and resigned, Eventhough I don't think Italy can't get anyone atm who is better than him.

Next coach isn't important, just some filler coach for 2016, then 2 years before Russia you start looking for a legit coach to build for the World Cup

I'd rather Italy go back to Catenaccio, it's not club football you don't need to watch 50 games per season of shit football. The results outweigh the 'style' 10000/1 when a World Cup victory is only a handful of wins away.

You can be knocked out in football, but there are ways, and there are ways.

Italy didn't shoot in these last 2 matches. No shots.

IMHO it is much difficult to score in this way .
