FIFA Coach of the Year Award 2014 Empty FIFA Coach of the Year Award 2014

Post by BarrileteCosmico Mon Jan 12, 2015 10:20 pm

36.23% Löw
22.06% Ancelotti
19.02% Simeone

WC year I guess, but I did think Löw deserved it the least of the names on the list.

FIFA of course, suddenly WC matters, when it's about coaches.

1. Only WC winning coaches gets a top place. Which means your Messi agenda doesn't apply.
2. There's a big difference for these coaches, as they don't coach both club and NT football. Which means Löw won every tournament, no player did that.

It really is a bit sad that an achievement like Simeone's 2014 stays unrewarded.
Should have gotten the award.
Löw is already too full of himself as it is.

Yeah Simeone would have gotten my vote too when I think of it. On his way to become one of the greatest motivational coaches. His team doesn't play good football or even clean football. But they fight for their lives to win. Amazing what he's done for Atletico.

Löw's coaching wasn't even that great in those couple games. Majority of the tournament he tried to copy Pep's Lahm in midfield and no striker tactics, played 4 centerbacks, Özil on the left wing where he wasn't comfortable and we played awful until he reverted back to a normal system. Winning La Liga in Camp Nou, the Supercopa over Real Madrid and making the CL final with a team like Atletico is a lifetime achievement. Can't believe Löw actually got double the amount of votes. Perhaps they should have own awards for club and NT coaches, it's a little like apples and oranges comparing them . Although I don't know if anyone cares about this award, really.

He might've won the only competition he was playing, but he had a team so stacked that even with an injured Reus he still didn't start Goetze.

Not to mention, even within the WC I think there were a few coaches that were more impressive.

In any case, Simeone getting the first La Liga for Atleti in over a decade and being 3 minutes away from the CL, with a team several magnitudes cheaper than his competitors, deserved to be recognized.

Löw must be one of the luckiest people in the history of football, if you think about how he came to the job, what he had achieved elsewhere, and that his tenure coincides with a Bayern high time and a huge boom of talented, disciplined and well-trained players.
Add to that the usual rivals messing up big time at the WC, in the two toughest matches Algeria and Argentine he was actually outcoached hmm

Simeone deserved this award IMO. Beating both favorites to the La Liga title over an entire season is more impressive than winning the WC with the favorites in an elimination cup. Not to mention going withing moments of getting Atletico their first ever CL win.

Perhaps they voted for Low to compensate for the Ballon D'or not going to a german player

Honestly, these awards are a joke.. Seems everyone just votes for his bestie without thinking much about actual performances
