apparently we might get Agger for 15M

not gonna lie, ima get legit annoyed if the only two targets at CB we get are 30 or older (Agger is also injury prone). So, that means they wil be like 33 or so by the next time we are allowed to do transfers and AGAIN we will be out trying to find two new CB's? Make NO sense lol

Then he started 2007-08 amazingly but 4-5 matches in he broke his metatarsal and was out for the rest of the season.

Skrtel got injured and once again Agger established himself as our best defender but at this point he was so injury prone that he was playing 1 -2 matches a month. Injuries ruined this guy. He was so talented and athletic ffs. Injuries completely ruined his athleticism very early in his career.

In 2009-10 Agger was injured once again every other game but still he was one of our best players in our run to Europa semis.

In 2010-11 Hodgson came in and benched him because Agger said Woy's football was ancient and he would never just hoof the ball even if the manager asked him to.

In 2011-12 he WAS A GOD under Kenny once again because he finally wasn't injured for a longish period of time (still broke his rib and missed like 3 months ) He was a GOD again in Euros 2012. Absolutely GODLY. That summer we rejected a 27m bid from City.

Then Rodgers came in, injuries, new system, Skrtel, Carra, Johnson and Enrique being absolute shit in 2012-13 led to Agger looking average even though he was still our best defender.

This past season he was injured most of it like always and we paid 18m for Sakho who had to start and they both play LCB so according to Brendan they couldn't play together.

So now we're selling and keeping Skrtel At this point he's not as good as he was in 2006-12 as injuries absolutely ruined him but he's still fantastic.

He's 29 going to be turning 30 in December. I know due to Agger and Mathieu age people are a little concerned, but Puyol was 30 also when Pep first took over he did the defensively well for a good 3-4 years. Puyol also had his injury moments to we coped well. I can also add Abidal to this as well as he was 29 in Pep first year too. I'm not comparing the two Puyol/Abidal who were warriors and yet to see these two in Barcelona, but they'll have something to prove and maybe just what we need for now, but I do think we need at a younger CB a little more developed as we will be banned in the transfer window next summer.

At least we are signing defenders and have CB's available, Pique, Bartra, Mathieu, Agger.

I am honestly happy with getting Agger and Matheiu...but I won't be happy if we don't also get a young prospect type like what Real Madrid did with Varane. Our B team CB's look too thin, still need some maturing and i don't think they will be ready to step in next year if needed. Then again maybe Bartra ends up having a monster season. Even another prospect type mid considering Xavi is leaving in the winter. Jan-March has always been our hardest months and we will be going into them without Xavi. Unless they plan on bringing in Sergi Samper to the rotation, maybe they think he will be ready by then (his speed worries me. Looks like another busquet's out there in terms of build and speed)

I honestly don't get the obsession with Cuadrado to replace Alves.

I dont agree with this part.

I wont be happy with Agger. Mathieu I am cool with because he still has speed, power and is without injury issues. Agger is the one who seems in physical decline and he will always miss games.

As for the B's, I think Edgar Le looks closer than you indicate actually and has relative experience playing for Portugal U21.

I still think as we wont be signing an unquestionable starter (Benatia for example), then we need to sign a younger guy. So I agree with what you said on that, but signing Agger kills that dream so thats just another reason not to be happy.

If by the end of the summer we have spent something like 40m Mathieu on Agger ill be disappointed.

I mostly agree, but the problem I have is lets say Xavi leaves in Jan...we cant really bring Samper in to replace him because he wont be ready.

Post Jan will be when the most important games arrive and when every point becomes more valuable. So we cant really afford to "try out" Samper in those games, it should have happened in the early part of the season. It would be like those times we threw Bartra in those tough games in his first promoted season.

Xavi leaving midseason would be a blow, I really hope he plays the whole season out.

Tbh we don't know if he'll turn out to be a good performer and La Liga or not. Good news is if he does well we can buy him for 30m euros next year. If he doesn't, we avoided a trap cheers

the dutch duo of De Vriji, Bruno Martins Indi....Balanta.....so many promising young defenders moving this market for WAY less than what any old defender we are being linked too. It's really....really annoying. It's like Zubi is just sitting around looking at Peps old notes and going off the names he would of liked; because we aren't being linked to anybody new really other than the ludicrous large bid we put in for bench player Marquinhos

Chelsea sold a still developing wantaway striker with two pretty decent EPL seasons behind him to a club who Are stingy with their finances for 5 million pounds less than we got for Fabregas (to a club like Chelsea). Now I'm not saying that Lukaku isn't worth (or can't develop into) a 25 million pound player, personally I think Everton could be getting a pretty good deal in the long term because I rate Lukaku quite a bit.

Just highlighting the difference between us and Chelsea in negotiating leaving players.

would kill to have their management tbh, they get who they want and they usually get a good return on players that they sell. Lukaku sold for 5 less than fab and 10 less than sanchez (who came off a great season and WC).

Who can that be - Marquinhos? Have read about strong links with Daniel Agger also. One more CB will be very welcome and maybe for the first time Barca fans would be able to look at the upcoming season optimistically.

The trouble is that under our present 'galacticos' policy we throw most of the money on a superstar like Suarez who we don't need and then try to penny pinch on defenders and midfielders who we actually need.
