Re: 2014 Summer Transfers Rumours Mk.IV
You can have Caulker and Lovren. I'd rather have Agger and Kolo start than those two.
Hopefully Ilori makes the jump to the first team this season. Probably still too early, but eventually it 's definitely going to be Sakho-Ilori. Just need it to happen sooner.

Not sure how Johnson is related in this though.
you mean Caulker will become best in his position in the league ?

Re: 2014 Summer Transfers Rumours Mk.IV
Didn't know Lovren is still only 24. I thought he was in his late 20s.
So he moved to a new league, new country out of his comfort zone at age of 21 and didn't have the best of time. What a surprise
I never watched him in France ,no idea...but this year he was among the very best CBs in the league before his ankle injury which put him out for months. If he's handed an official transfer request, guess it'll decrease the price.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfers Rumours Mk.IV
Spent 3,5 years with Lyon and turns 25 in less than a month. Thing is, nobody expected Lovren to be great... but he was horrific for Lyon. I don't exaggerate when i say he was on the same level as Zapata. Zapata also had one really good year at Udinese that fooled people. But just the lack of fundamentals was evident with Zapata... as it is with Lovren. I'll also throw in Squillaci.
All guys that look good with mid table teams but lack the talent, and eventually get exposed, when they take the step up. Tbh, I haven't watched Lovren this year much... maybe he didn transform his entire game. It would be miraculous![Laughing](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_lol.gif)

Nope. It's been 4 years since then, and I don't watch PSG. I do remember him being quite lazy as well as having bad behaviour though.
I'd rather keep Taarabt, he's been a nice surprise.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfers Rumours Mk.IV
Arsenal are interested in signing Porto striker Jackson Martinez, according to the player’s agent.
The 27-year-old scored 29 goals in 51 appearances for the Portuguese club last season and is in line to feature in attack for Colombia at this summer's World Cup.
Arsenal, who are currently in talks to re-sign Carlos Vela from Real Sociedad, are in the market for another forward this summer in order to provide competition for Olivier Giroud.
"In Italy we have had very little contact, but for sure there have not been any offers from Roma," Peppino Tirri, Martinez’s agent in Italy, told Calciomercato.
"There are, instead, opportunities abroad - Arsenal and Valencia in particular are very interested in Jackson Martinez."

So he'll be sold this summer, then. No why he's going to be guaranteed regular playing time with the first team next season.Suso wrote:
“I will only renew with Liverpool if I’m guaranteed I’ll play regularly.
“The option is clear: if I don’t renew, let me leave. I think Liverpool thinks the same.
“They won’t let me leave on a free in a year if I don’t renew. Let’s see what happens.”

sportsczy wrote:Lovren was atrocious for several years in Ligue 1. I think that paying big money based on one season of good play is veeeery risky. I'd wait another year.
His problem at Lyon was pretty simple... Lyon played an open style of football which meant that the defenders needed to be really good in defending against counter attacks and covering for fullbacks who were up in the attack. Didn't play compact at all. Lovren just couldn't handle it. If the decisions became complicated for him, he crumbled. He did ok when the team played low though... which was almost never.
That's why i really fear for his performance at Liverpool. Liverpool love to attack and rightfully so. Also, Johnson is not very good defensively. There's also no DM coverage. I think it's a bad recipe for him.
Not sure why all the hate, I still think it is a product of finding the right system for a player. Lovren has been excellent for Southampton and he typically puts in good performances for his national team.
Either way, he is the one player I can guarantee will end up at Tottenham given that Dawson (thank f'ing god

I defer to Sports though as he is usually spot on with his assessments.

Speak for yourself ffs

Had his best games under Ranieri, who trusted him and was getting the best out of him before he was sacked. When Montella came in and restored the old guard back to their roles, Menez was frozen out. This led to his worst form for Roma and his subsequent departure.
Ultimately, he didn't fulfill his potential and flopped as a result. I think he might've done so under Zeman or Garcia, but not under Montella or Luis Enrique. He would've been deadwood by the time the right coach came around so it was the right decision to sell.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfers Rumours Mk.IV
Napoli boss Rafa Benitez has ruled out signing Pepe Reina on a permanent deal from Liverpool due to his wage demands.
The 31-year-old spent last season on loan at the Serie A side, making 40 appearances in all competitions, as Simon Mignolet became Brendan Rodgers’ first-choice goalkeeper at Anfield following his summer switch from Sunderland.
Reina, who is currently with the Spain squad at the World Cup, has previously stated he would be happy to stay at Napoli but it now appears he will have to consider his options elsewhere.
Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have been among the other clubs reported to be keen on his services after Benitez confirmed he would be leaving the Stadio San Paolo.
Asked if Reina’s future belongs in England, Benitez told talkSPORT: "Yes. Pepe has two years left on his contract at Liverpool.
"He has to go back and he’ll stay there. We can’t afford Pepe’s wages.
"The Premier League is a very big league and, in Serie A, we don’t pay big wages like in England. He will have to fight for his position at Liverpool."
