Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
We do and we will at least apparently so.
And a lot of the fringe french players will be leaving like Obertan, Marveaux etc etc.
It won't be as dominated as it was before i reckon, the only ones left will be actual quality ones and not the average squad players plodding up the squad.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
L'Equipe is saying that Montpellier and Newcastle have agreed on the fee but that personal terms have not been reached yet with Cabella. It all comes down to whether Cabella wants to go to Newcastle or not. I think he'll wait and see if something better comes.
Montpellier do that a lot and so does Lyon... they tend to get the fee issue settled early with several clubs and then wait on the player.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
Barcelona have no intention of allowing Cesc Fabregas, Javier Mascherano or Xavi to leave the club this summer.
It has been suggested that Spain international Fabregas is once again figuring prominently on the transfer wish list of Manchester United.
The Premier League outfit pursued the former Arsenal midfielder for long periods in 2013, only to see him remain at the Nou Camp.
Fabregas has offered no indication that he is looking to secure a return to English football any time soon, and Barca maintain that he remains an important figure in their plans.
President Josep Maria Bartomeu told Onda Cero: "We don't want to sell players.
"Barca do not want to sell Fabregas or any other players that may appear to be on the market."
Among those also generating plenty of speculation ahead of the re-opening of the transfer window are versatile Argentine Mascherano and long-serving playmaker Xavi.
Neither, though, are going anywhere according to Bartomeu.
He added: "Mascherano is a key player on the field, he stays at Barca.
"Xavi's contract ends in 2016 and he has two more years with the club. Coaches rely on experience for the future, and he has been at the club for 16 years."
Barcelona have also been linked with a number of possible incomings, with a transfer embargo postponed on appeal.
Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke is said to be interesting several clubs, but Bartomeu does not expect the talented 22-year-old to become available.
He said: "Koke is a spectacular player that all teams would like, but Atletico had a magnificent season and they will want to have another."
Bartomeu added that Atletico forward Arda Turn is 'not to be observed', but hinted that a move for Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos could be a possibility.
"The club is looking for a successor to Carles Puyol," he said. "There was a Barca before Puyol and there will be one after. Marquinhos is a good player but we are in talks with various teams."

That's more on Montpellier than the player himself tbh... he's been quoted numerous times that joining us interests him and made it obvious publicly that he wanted to join in January but Montpellier wouldn't let him go.
Of course if someone clearly better comes in then that changes everything but that's the same for nearly every club.
Even if we did get him though it doesn't change a great deal as we basically need a new team

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
Sky Sports understands five Premier League clubs are battling it out to land former Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis.
Gomis is one of the most sought-after free agents in the transfer market after seeing out his contract at Lyon.
The 28-year-old is being chased by a number of clubs across Europe, having scored over 100 goals in Ligue 1 during his career.
The likes of West Ham, Sunderland and Swansea are all thought to be admirers of Gomis and the player has been in England to talk to interested clubs this week.
Gomis' representative, Willie McKay, has confirmed he has spoken to five clubs about the striker and that one club in particular are making a concerted effort to land the France international.
"I am speaking to five Premier League clubs about Bafetimbi and it is no surprise there is a lot of interest in him as he is one of the best free agents out there," McKay told Sky Sports.
"I am speaking to one very ambitious chairman of an ambitious club and they are very keen to sign him and Bafetimbi will go to a club who proves they really want him.
"The club who are really pushing for him have held a long-term interest in him and made a big bid for him before when he was under contract at Lyon."

I think the midfield 4 becomes Cabaye, Motta, Verratti and Matuidi playing together with Matuidi playing left B2B and Verrati taking on the more attacking role on the right. Rabiot would be the backup.Ganso wrote:That's crazy considering Cabaye-Verrati and Motta would be fighting for 1 spotsportsczy wrote:http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actualites/Cavani-ne-partira-pas/469526

The guys that are in true danger here are Lucas and Lavezzi. They were the weak links last season and the most inconsistent.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
What an awful midfield, no player able to change pace in mid, playing verratti as right mid completely out of position. That setup will create do much imbalance that PSG will get pummelled if they try that in CL. matuidi on the left side useless, no forward can run at the defense. relying on cabaye to play box to box and be a difference maker just pure mehsportsczy wrote:I think the midfield 4 becomes Cabaye, Motta, Verratti and Matuidi playing together with Matuidi playing left B2B and Verrati taking on the more attacking role on the right. Not happening.
the best Blanc will do is play some 442 vs some of the waeker team in the league to make cavani happy, but in CL 433, big games, 433

That midfield would be awful with Matuidi and Cabaye playing wider.they would be great defensively and all, but it would be slow and lacking flair. Not to mention Cavani and Ibra would have to show incredible consistency in terms of creativity and goalscoring.
edit:Nick beat me to it.Let's be honest. it's a terrible idea

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
LEquipe using a classic clutching at straw article to make PSG fans happy, probably being fed crap info. I dont buy that for a moment. If PSG want to go 442, they will gear up on wide players this summer, but sure, they spend 50 mil on luiz and looking to get candreva . We will see if that happens, otherwise, no reason to change anything. Cavani makes 10 mil net per year, he needs to stfu

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
Not really if you have Digne and let's say Alves being wingbacks and the 2 midfield dropping back to cover them. It wouldn't work with Maxwell/Van Der Wiel because they're not wingbacks.
Pretty clear Digne is the starter next season and PSG are looking at Alves and other super offensive RBs.
And it would be Matuidi and Verratti attacking... not Matuidi and Cabaye. That's how they go anyhow with 2 guys attacking each flank with one fullback in the mix. The other fullback stayed back. In this scenario, both fullbacks are free to attack together while the mids are there for extra cover.
It's really a modified 352 with Motta dropping back almost into a CB position. He'd play very, very low.
l'Equipe is extremely well informed on PSG and have deep connections there... that's why they've lost several of the other info sources in France. They're too focused on PSG and other teams have gotten annoyed and stopped feeding them inside info.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
I saw Verratti and Matuidi trying to attack Chelsea, that was funny .
it;s crap sports, Blanc is not dumb enough to make promises like that. Lequipe have become such a terribly unreliable paper now. It's a terrible formation on paper, and it will be just as bad on the pitch. all of this is pure speculation with no basis at all.
PSG will continue with their 433, mainly in big games. Cavani will calm down and do his job as expected.

If PSG sign Alves, Cavani can just move central when they have the ball with Ibra playing off him.

exactly MT, Ibra plays way outside of the box most of the time anyway. But when it's time to defend, he will go back to the right and help protect verratti and alvesYohan Modric wrote:If PSG sign Alves, Cavani can just move central when they have the ball with Ibra playing off him.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
I really get the feeling Blanc wants to attack the wings hard... that's what he always wanted to do and that's when PSG were at their best. Van Der Wiel started the season in great fashion and provided that and then he got injured/dropped form. They tried the 442 to start the season, but Lavezzi and Lucas couldn't do it.
So to me, it's very, very viable that PSG goes with a 352. Heck, it even makes more sense when you consider Marquinhos. You could play a 3 CB setup with Luiz/Silva/Marquinhos, have Digne/Alves (or similar profile) at wingbacks, Motta/Matuidi/Verratti as mids and Ibra/Cavani on the attack. When you think about it... their roster is custom made for it. You'd have natural depth at all the positions too.
Given FFP issues, it makes the most sense in fact unless they figure out a way to get a Hazard or someone of that caliber. But that would require them overhauling a lot of things to create the necessary room. Namely, they would need to sell 60-70 mil worth of players just to get Hazard and then turn around. Based on their FFP deal right now, they can buy nobody else unless they sell AND they cannot go over their current wage total.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
The agent of Real Madrid goalkeeper Diego Lopez insists there is nothing in the speculation linking him with a summer switch to Napoli.
Pepe Reina was Napoli's first-choice goalkeeper throughout their Serie A campaign but his future remains uncertain after his season-long loan spell from Liverpool came to an end.
Reports have suggested that Lopez, who featured 37 times in all competitions for Madrid last season, was being lined up as a possible replacement for Reina should he not make a return to the Stadio San Paolo.
Lopez has another three years remaining on his current deal at the Santiago Bernabeu and agent Manuel Garcia Quilon says that the Spaniard is not planning an early exit.
"I'm surprised to hear these rumours, they are absolutely baseless," he told Tuttonapoli.net.
"Diego Lopez won't move from Real Madrid, he has no intention of leaving the club. This is the clearest idea of the player and of his family."
