75m on Lallana, Lambert, Can, Moreno, and Lovren. What an absolute nonsense.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
Given that Liverpool have yet to even make an approach for Lovren, much less put in a bid of any kind, I'm struggling to see where you're pulling this figure from (other than your own arse).

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
EE hates everything German: probably thinks Clattermole >> Can . Our first XI was boss last season, we just had zilch options on the bench which is now being addressed. I love the English Liverpool, BR will make Lallana look as good as Iniesta , can't wait

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
We should sign Paul Konchesky imo.
Imagine the improvement from him under Rodgers, and imagine the headlines he would sell for his story.
"From flop to top"
"Konchesky helps lead Liverpool to the title"
"Konchesky's mother praises Rodgers for faith in his son"
"Rod Hodgson: I knew Paul had it in him"

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
You're right, obviously a completely unrelated and dissimilar player who's lack of success came under entirely different management and hierarchy at Liverpool is analogous to the current situation and signings. Clearly.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
Why are liverpool signing the likes of Lallana for 30 mill instead of going for CL caliber players? Last year they could say we cant attract those top players but it is not the case this season.
Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
^ b/c our wage cap did bed signed players is 100k/week whereas someone like Keoos wants 250k/week. Plus Lallana is boss', the moment it's confirmed I'm making a bet in betting thread that he will get 10+ goals and 10+ assists next season

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
“We will talk after the World Cup, we’ll talk with Chelsea," Courtois told Cuatro. "I’m very comfortable here, I love living here, but at times you have to think about the sporting aspect.
“We’ll see what happens, I can’t say right now. First the World Cup.”
It had been suggested that Courtois went to see his team-mates to bid farewell after the Champions League final, but the 22-year-old ruled that out: “I’ve not said any goodbyes, I went to the bench to do some things."

Valencia are after Valbuena btw dude.... he's extremely underrated for some reason. Would fit perfectly in terms of style in La Liga.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
keita has been great tbh... then again it might be because most of our midfielders are trash
and yeah i read about valbuena, but it's probably nonsense... still though, i wouldn't mind him as a replacement for piatti

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
Speaking of Liverpool.....
Liverpool looked to have missed out on the signing of Brazilian defender Adriano after reports in Italy claimed he has agreed a deal to join Roma.
Brendan Rodgers has been linked with a move for the Barcelona full-back as he looks to strengthen his backline and bring in more quality signings as the Merseyside club prepare for life back in the Champions League next season.
But he will have to switch his attentions elsewhere as Italian TV broadcaster Mediaset is reporting that Roma have agreed an £8m move to sign the 29-year-old and could even unveil him on Monday.
Roma are also back in the Champions League next season and coach Rudi Garcia hopes the addition of Adriano can make them a force to be reckoned with.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini has confirmed that Mehdi Benatia will only be sold if someone offers €61m.
The Morocco international has been heavily linked with a switch away from Stadio Olimpico in the summer, with Barcelona and Manchester City thought to be interested.
Reports have suggested that the defender was angling for a transfer after contract negotiations with the Giallorossi broke down.
The Blaugrana and the Premier League champions are, according to several stories, ready to offer €30m for the former Udinese man.
However, the board member has insisted that if the centre-back is to leave, it will have to be for double that.
“Benatia is a guy with sound principles - he didn't want to take a step away from Roma fans or his team-mates,” Sabatini told a Press conference.
“He has been completely coherent, he's never played for himself, always with and for the team.
“Personally I think €30m is the value of Benatia's weak foot. If Benatia's weak foot is worth €30m then the total price would be €61m."
“Benatia is not for sale, unless someone comes to us with an offer of €61m.”
The 27-year-old could be leaving, but the sporting director has insisted that the capital outfit will bring in new players as well.
“We'll add to our squad with the European campaign in mind. We need two for each position, and three in some cases.
“I can say this now - Roma will challenge for the title next season. This team deserves it.”
Welp....so much for that transfer saga.
Still don't like what Mehdi said and how he went about this, but we need him so this will be welcome news for the majority of Romanisti.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
If I were a Roma fan, I would sell Benatia for €40m and wouldn't be upset if he was sold for 30m. I don't think buying good center-backs is as difficult as, say, buying good strikers or wingers, and I'd fancy Roma's chances to find a good replacement and still have plenty of money left to spend on other areas.
€40m well spent >>> keeping Benatia, imo.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
I'd say they should do it for 40M. No less though.
40M + their budget should get them a couple of first team additions and an upgraded bench which tbh is absolutely vital for them if they want to stay towards the top of the league and compete in Europe too.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. III
Agreed in principle as we did something similar to this with the Marcos/Coco money last summer.Art Morte wrote:If I were a Roma fan, I would sell Benatia for €40m and wouldn't be upset if he was sold for 30m. That said, from a chemistry perspective, we lose something in selling Benatia at this point. There's also the issue at goalkeeper as De Sanctis' future is still unclear. Don't want to go into a season like this upcoming on with those types of questions so if Roma can avoid that, I believe they will and the first step is to keep Benatia and keep that defense intact.
