^ Arsenal are in full bottle mode though. On paper they should have
Got minimum of 4 pts from stoke and swansea and ended up with one. Depends on the Semi, they need that win so badly to get some belief back. Lose to Wigan and heads will roll. I think Everton will win 4 of their last 6 games btw.

Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V10 - Page 21 Empty Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V10

Sky sources understand that Tim Sherwood will be replaced as manager of Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Speaking ahead of tonight's Premier League game against Sunderland at White Hart Lane, live on Sky Sports 1, Sherwood said: "I can't say much right now. What I can say is tonight is business as usual.

"I'm setting this team up to win a football match for the benefit of the club and the 35,000 Spurs fans who will come and watch. I'll speak at a later stage."

The 45-year-old, who was appointed on December 23 as Andre Villas-Boas' successor on an 18-month contract, won 10 and lost nine of his 22 games in charge.

After stepping up from his position as the club's U21 coach, Sherwood made a promising start in his first senior managerial role, winning five of his first six games.

But a poor recent run of results has seen Spurs slip to seventh in the Premier League and crash out of the Europa League at the hands of Portuguese side Benfica.

Reflecting on Sherwood's expected departure, former Charlton manager Alan Curbishley insisted he was right to take the job but has paid the price for the side's recent form.

"There may be managers in work who may now look at the situation and say 'I fancy Spurs'," Curbishley told Sky Sports News.

"If you're offered the situation then you have got to take it and I think Tim was a bit wary of it. I think he thought there was no point taking the job just until the end of the season - that would have been a no-win situation for him.

"He held out for an 18-month contract, a little bit more security, so it wasn't a short-term situation. These jobs don't come around that often and you do have to take them if you really want to be a Premier League manager.

"If the results had been better and Tottenham were in the top four then I think Tim Sherwood could still have been the manager going forward."

Curbishley added: "I think only Daniel Levy can tell you the sort of manager they need - over the years he has gone down a couple of different routes.

"There may be managers out there who are in work who fancy the Tottenham job now there is a vacancy and will put their names forward."

Sky Bet make Louis van Gaal, who is set to leave his post as Holland manager after the World Cup, their odds-on favourite to replace Sherwood with Mauricio Pochettino, Frank de Boer and Jurgen Klinsmann also considered at the head of the betting.

That gif favours Flanno.

The keeper made contact with the ball BEFORE he iniatially made contact with Flanagan. Adrian then took Jon out after he made contact with the ball. It's a 50/50.

There's nothing in the rulebook that says that it's not a foul if the tackling player (outfield or keeper) touches the ball first.

The keeper DID touch the ball first, but he didn't take it out of Flanagan's control or ability to play. The ball wasn't headed out of play and had Flanagan not been toppled he would have beaten the oncoming defender to the ball. However, Adrian followed up the touch on the ball by tripping Flanagan (intentionally or not) with one hand then actively attempting to pull on the lad's leg with both hands to stop him reaching the ball. Had he not done so, Flanagan would have been in a position to continue his possession of and play on the ball. That's a foul. A foul in the box is a penalty.

Add to that that the referee was behind the play and likely couldn't see the keeper's touch on the ball anyway, and it seems a fairly straightforward decision, to be honest.

They'll play Cardiff, West Brom and Swansea at home still and Manchester United away, that's a good chance to get 12 points and reach safety. They need to play better than this, though. So easy to attack against them.

Btw, if it wasn't posted already, Jay Rodriguez out for some six months. Potentially the silver lining that he will stay at Southampton now.

Everyone's talking about the City-Liverpool match this weekend in terms of importance, but Fulham v Norwich is just as a big a game imo. Norwich cannot afford to lose that match, they lose and it's a wrap for them. Their next 4 games after that is against Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal. Can't see them picking a single point against any of those teams. Reason why their board said screw it and sacked Hughton yesterday. May aswell risk it & give the players a boost ahead of this one match. They know they are in trouble if they lose at Craven Cottage.

rofl

I know relegation scraps are important, but clearly a potential title decider is bigger than a relegation dogfight. Otherwise winning the league would be a bit of a let down when all you really had to do for success was avoid relegation hmm

You're talking to a banned account there, Sepi.

And I'm not sure what he was on about to begin with... there was no "moaning" in that post, just a comment about the atmosphere for the upcoming match.
