Whatever angle we look at it 4 mil for Lambert is a teriffic deal . Next season we will have Suuarez Struddige Borini and Lambert as our strikers . 13 goals and 10 assists this season and taking a pay cut as well

Great depth and variety as well in striker position for the first time in 15-20 years

I hope there is no effect. It would be brilliant to have both of them as BG said. Borini is such a player who will excel either on left or as a CF also. But I think number 9 should be given to Lambert

Hard to say. With Aspas going and the versatility we have in our forwards (Borini, Suarez, Sturridge can all play wide or behind a another striker) I think there should still be a place and chances for Borini to get some game time and have a chance to prove himself. The question is whether he's willing to be patient in his wait for said chances, and ruthless in his drive to seize them when they come. If he's unwilling to wait for cup matches and/or put in some time in a wide forward role he may move on this summer as well, but I suspect he'll want to take that challenge head on.

While I agree with half or more of that list (Vorm, Clyne, CAshley, Lovren) the reasoning provided there is basically the same for every single player mentioned: "The cost/wages would be too high and LFC could get better for the same price..." Well I'd love to see his/her follow-up article that lists the superior players available at the same prices (and would be willing to take squad roles in some cases).

Eh, sometimes it comes down to missing out on a player (as we have in the past two windows) or paying a bit more than you would prefer to... I don't think Lallana is really worth £25m but I'm not going to complain about the fee given the current market. Any higher and the club should (and will) walk away though, and I do agree with that decision.

Just like how Mata was "definite" going to Arsenal (who ended up at Chelsea) so instead we went for Downing instead? Where we offered more WAGES AND FEE to get the inferior player in because "no one is available because lack of CL"? These excuses have to stop.

We used to overpay because we weren't in Champions League and had to show intent or some other bullshit. Fine, whatever.
We used to have to pick inferior players over superior players because again, we weren't in the Champions League and players would reject us.

So why are we continuing the trend of our transfer failures in the past? I know it's the summer and everyone wants to see players in, but open your eyes up ffs. These signings aren't good. Go big or don't go at all. We don't need quantity, we need quality.

It's okay though. Lambert has scored 13 goals and 7 assists with a somewhat consistent playing time at Soton, he'll surely be able to replicate that playing off the bench here.   

I don't think anyone is asking for 13 goals and 7 assists from a fourth choice striker...

He's the next Kolo Toure ffs. He'll score a goal or two in his first two games and then flop. And the worst part is, we're actually BUYING him.

Not sure how you can be claiming Kolo as such a failure of a signing when he was absolutely critical to our early run of wins that set the season on it's way. Pointing out his mistakes and ignoring that is like like pointing to Henderson's red card and saying it proves he was poor this past season, it's myopic and asinine.

Apart from the Arsenal game at Anfield, I can't think of a single game where Kolo Toure played a decent game if you exclude the first two opening games. He was supposed to bring "leadership" to the defence, and he failed at that too.

How else do you justify such a pointless signing?

1. Is Lovren really an upgrade over Agger or Skrtel! That too while keeping Toure.

2. Is Lallana really worth GBP 25m! I know you can't always get a player at his perceived price. Let's say if he is really worth 20, I don't mind that extra 5. But is it!

Where would he play! I thought he will take the furthest MF slot but it seems he will actually play in a wide position.

3. Is Vorm really an upgrade over Jones. The rumors have started to appear in more reliable sources. I really can't see him putting more pressure (or better cover) on Mig than Jones have (or can).

4. Lambert as a 4th choice seems OK. But persisting rumors about Borini is concerning.

5. I wonder how wage can be a stumbling point for Can. BL wages are lower than PL and Leverkusen isn't known (or able to) pay high wages, specially to a young player.

6. Is Moreno really worth GBP 20!

Why aren't we in for Jay Rodriguez instead of Lambert.. I know he's injured, but still....    

I still want Kono though, but it probably isn't happening

And why do we need a new striker anyway?
Borini should be enough and I don't mind Aspas being 4th choice.

Lallana is not worth £25m, but if Rodgers can make him worth that much for us, then it's OK. But I can't help thinking that we're shopping at the worst possible marketplace.

Also makes me facepalm even still that we didn't go for Eriksen for half that money
