Reassessment: Who are the 5 best CB's in the world at the moment?

Who are the 5 best CB's in the world at the moment?

Rules:
This should go without saying, but I'm going to say it anyway:

1.  Within the meaning of the words "at the moment" is an implication that the CB is actually playing for their team with some regularity.

2. It should also be implied from the words "at the moment" that the CB is not retired and has not been out with a long-term injury or illness.

3. Within the meaning of the word "best" is an implication that the player is starting for their team when they are not injured.

4. Within the meaning of the word "CB" is an implication that the player is predominantly playing as a centre back and not as a full-back, or defensive midfielder, or any other position.

Chiellini, Thiago Silva , Benatia, Dante, Kompany

Chiellini isn't even better than Ramos ffs.

Koscielny has been top defender for years.

The question is whether he is a top defender right now?

Also, no love for Barzagli so far? Arguably in better form than Chiellini this season.

Agreed with Valkyrja about Chiellini . We can discuss about the slowness,at the most,but the rest is true , totally agree .

infact Barzagli is better than him

Barzagli is the most reliable out of Juve's defence

Anyway, i can only think of 3: Mehdi, TS and Barzagli

Kos, Merte and Dante are arguable. I haven't seen enough of these 3 to judge really, but the general consensus seem to accept them as top CB's.

Kos is definitely top 5 this season

Dante clumsiest player to ever be called to 5.

tbf Dante was a top 5 CB last season.This season Pep's system is exposing him and Boateng, both ok CBs

John Terry has been top 5 this season he's missing from this discussion.

I think Castan thrives with Benatia next to him. Make no mistake though, Benatia is top quality.

Unbielevable how much is dropped the level of central defenders... some names Never would have been considered 10-15 years ago
