Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. I
Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu claims Victor Valdes could yet decide to stay at the club this summer.
Valdes' current contract at Camp Nou is due to expire in June and the Spain international has made it clear in the past that this will be his final season at the club, with Monaco and Manchester City among the clubs linked with his signature.
However, Bartomeu insists he is unaware of any deal Valdes may have reached with another club and says the "doors are open" should he decide to stay when he recovers from the serious knee injury he sustained against Celta.
"We have said to Valdes that the club are at his disposal. At the moment he is concerned about his operation, of course, but he knows that the doors are open to him," he said to COPE.
"We are not aware that he has signed for any club."
Bartomeu also insisted there are no complications with Lionel Messi's proposed new contact, which is set to make him the highest-paid player in the world.
Indeed, according to Bartomeu, it will not be the final deal the Argentine will sign in his career with the Blaugrana.
"He will continue at Barca. It will not be his final contract. I think I'll leave before he does," he said.
"I want Messi to retire at Barca. He is a different player, the best in the world, and we enjoy having him.
"There is no problem with his renewal. We want him to be the best-paid player in the world."

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. I
Roberto Martinez admits he intends to spend before next season with new players and a revamp of Everton's training base on his wish list.
The Everton manager confirmed on Thursday that he will spend money in the transfer market in the lead-up to the 2014-15 Premier League season after collecting a 'big pot' since he joined the Merseyside club in June.
Martinez has sold Marouane Fellaini, Nikica Jelavic and Victor Anichebe, while also sending John Heitinga out on loan, bringing in around £40million and significantly reducing Everton's wage bill.
While the 40-year-old Spaniard has brought in the likes of James McCarthy and Arouna Kone, Martinez revealed he did not spend any money in the January transfer window so he could make some impressive purchases in the close-season.
"We've got money but I didn't want to spend it in January," Martinez told reporters.
"The cash has been here before but in the past they [Everton] have spent £10m in one window, £6m in another window.
"What we have done is bring in loan players, short-term players, and used the young players to accumulate money. It is about spending it a little bit at a time or all at once. I prefer to stockpile for the summer.
"Having to sell players, reduce the wage bill and keep money from other areas to make a big pot is what I've been aiming for over the last 10 months."
Loan players have been critical to Everton's rise to fifth spot in the Premier League this season with Romelu Lukaku, Gareth Barry and Gerard Deulofeu all playing key roles in Martinez's new set-up.
With just six points separating Everton and fourth-placed Arsenal, the blue team from Merseyside could still qualify for the Champions League.
And, if Everton do manage to qualify for Europe, Martinez knows he will have to expand his squad.
"I always found you can work on a squad of 21 players in the league and for domestic competitions," the former Swansea and Wigan manager said.
"You need around 27 players plus keepers for Europe. It doesn't have to be 27 senior players, it can be young players too, but 27.
"We have identified what we need for next season in terms of the areas, and then you start working on your wish-list.
"If you get into the Champions League you can look for your number one choice. If not, you’re going to number four, five, six and maybe seven or eight. But we have got the money and it is there to be spent."
Martinez also has grand plans for Everton's training centre at Finch Farm as he attempts to turn the club into Premier League giants.
"We need bedrooms for the first team and the option to get digs for the young players to stay on site as well," he said.
"We are two pitches short and we need to have a full-size indoor facility for all the age groups. The facilities here are terrific but the demands every season change and you need to be up to date."

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. I
Barcelona could make an emergency goalkeeper signing as doubts have arisen over the fitness of Jose Pinto.
Victor Valdes’ season and Barca career ended on Wednesday when he tore his anterior cruciate ligament against Celta Vigo and was ruled out for a minimum of six months.
Jose Pinto came on in Valdes’ place but nearly injured his knee when he collided with the goal post in the second half.
Pinto has also been suffering from back problems and AS reports that La Blaugrana are considering bringing in an experienced goalkeeper for the rest of the season.
A meeting is to be held between President Josep Maria Bartomeu, Vice-president Jordi Mestre, sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta and Coach Tata Martino at which the possibility will be discussed.
As it stands the only back-up to Pinto comes from B team players Oier Olazabal and Jordi Masip
There is also a longer-term doubt around Pinto, as his contract expires this summer and there has been no movement towards a renewal.

Fiorentina will fight with Barcelona for a pair of La Liga centre-backs in the summer, according to reports.
Sport Mediaset write on Friday that the Viola have already been in contact with Villarreal’s Mateo Musacchio and Sevilla defender Federico Fazio about potential moves at the end of the season.
Both have been heavily linked switches away from their respective clubs come the off-season, with the duo repeatedly rumoured to be of interest to Barca.
However, that has not put of the Viola, who according to the outlet have been in contract with the Yellow Submarine and the Rojiblancos about their players.
Both could cost between €10m-18m.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. I
Paul Pogba's agent Mino Raiola says talks over extending the midfielder's contract at Juventus are on hold until after the World Cup.
The former Manchester United man has scored seven goals for the reigning Italian champions so far this season as they continue their march towards claiming their third consecutive Serie A title.
And Raiola insists the France international midfielder only has thoughts on helping the Turin giants to the Scudetto title as well as the Europa League, in which they face Lyon in the quarter-finals.
"Right now the guy just wants to play and win both trophies with Juventus," Raiola told Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport.
"After that he will focus on the World Cup so it's only fair that he's thinking about what's happened on the pitch over the next couple of months.
"He is still contracted to the club until 2016, which is a long contract, so there is no real hurry to extend it.
"He doesn't want to leave, but everything is postponed until after the World Cup finals in Brazil."

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Rumours Mk. I
Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo insists Thibaut Courtois is still a Chelsea player, despite the goalkeeper having only two years left on his current deal.
The Belgium international is enjoying his third season-long loan spell with Atletico and, with Petr Cech still first-choice at Stamford Bridge, Courtois' future remains unclear.
Courtois is yet to make his competitive debut for Chelsea, three years after joining in a £7million deal from Genk.
And with the Blues reportedly looking to offer the 21-year-old a contract extension, Cerezo says Atletico will not try and prise the player away from Chelsea.
He told Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo: "Courtois is Chelsea's property and that has been made clear.
"Initially he was loaned out to us for a year but now we've had him for three seasons.
"Thibaut is very pleased to be at the Vicente Calderon right now although he is prepared to fight for his place with Petr Cech at Stamford Bridge.
"His future does not depend on us, so we have a big challenge over the summer to strengthen our squad.
"Our sporting director (Jose Luis Perez Caminero) has told me that we should not fear the big clubs that are interested in our footballers. That is a welcome relief because this team is still developing."

Scuffet = Juventus
Bardi = Inter
Perin = Milan
I think it will be so in future. I can see Scuffet to Juventus as Buffon's heir. It seems the perfect profile for them considering Juventus never takes foreign GKs , Van der Saar (the only) was an awful experience for them.

Inter’s Fredy Guarin says he always wanted to remain at the club and that his relationship with fans has not suffered since almost joining Juventus.
The Colombian had seemed set to move to the Old Lady in January but has now committed his long term future to the Nerazzurri by signing a new contract.
“Have I burned any bridges with the fans? Not at all,” Guarin said to Caracol Radio. “When you act sincerely and with honesty, people understand everything.
“The fans knew it wasn’t my decision to leave and today I can still say that they are on my side.”

Chelsea attacker Oscar has been urged to join Paris Saint-Germain by compatriot Lucas Moura, just days after Yohan Cabaye revealed his desire to play alongside Eden Hazard.
The Stamford Bridge outfit take on PSG in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, with the first leg in Paris on Wednesday, and former Sao Paulo man Lucas has singled out Oscar as a player he would love to line up alongside next season.
"Oscar is a very good player. A rare talent in today's football, given his qualities. He is very complete and is very smart. We need someone like him at PSG," the Brazilian is quoted as saying by The Daily Telegraph.
"I think he would help us a lot. The more quality players there are, the better it is for the squad. Also, he's a very good friend of mine. I would be very happy if he came to PSG, the club too."

Fredy Guarin has denied that he wanted to leave Inter for Juventus during the January transfer window.
The Colombian was all set to join the Italian champions as apart of swap deal that would have seen Mirko Vucinic move in the opposite direction but, at the 11th hour, Nerazzurri owner Erick Thohir decided to pull the plug on the proposed transfer, which had prompted furious protests from the club's fans.
It was reported that Guarin, who has since extend his contract with Inter until 2017, was devastated that the trade collapsed but the midfielder insists that he always wanted to remain at San Siro and that Inter's supporters know this.
"The failed move has not left any kind of aftermath with the fans," the former Porto ace told Radio Carcol.

Edinson Cavani has refused to be drawn on speculation linking him with Manchester United, stating only that he is committed to Paris Saint-Germain.
It has been reported that the Premier League titleholders are considering a summer bid for the Uruguayan, who has not often been utilised in his preferred position in the centre of the attack since joining the French champions from Napoli last summer.
However, when asked about United's alleged interest in his services by beIN Sport on Friday evening, Cavani responded flatly: "I'm a Paris Saint-Germain player."

Why would he want to leave. PSG have allowed him to miss a lot of time to go back to Uruguay and deal with his divorce... over 4 weeks of "personal time". They've kept it quiet and never made it an issue. Not sure how many clubs would do that for a player that is paid 10+ mil in wages.
