I think Jenk is a good backup. Who is your ideal replacement for bacary?El Gunner wrote:Jenkinson not good enough imo.EL Patron wrote:He is talented but signing him wouldn't make much sense, we have Jenkinson and Bellerin already who are all young and talented as well.
Bellerin still raw. Not a sure-go that he'll turn out to be a good RB for Arsenal.

What does everyone think of Seamus Coleman? How much would he cost?..
lmo l'd really like to bring him in. He is premier league proven, two way player
l don't want us to spend 10m+ to bring in a RB version of Monreal.

Coleman would be great but he will cost too much, Wenger never spends a lot on defenders. Sagna, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Koscielny were all signed for modest fees

I wonder how much it would take to tie Bacary Sagna down.
Ffs, he's literally the perfect defender. He played everywhere across the backline yesterday, is Premier League proven and one of our longest-serving players. Just give him what he wantssssssssss.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
One thing we should consider is that Sagna may not want to stay at Arsenal. Not that he "wants out," but that he may just be curious to move on to something else. None of us know for sure, but it is a possibility given the circumstances.
If he does leave, and we find out the reason is that he was lowballed on his contract offer, I will be furious. He deserves top-of-the-line treatment from the club IMO. But it is feasible that he wants to try something else out while he's still got a few top-level years left in him, and that he may think Arsenal's contract offer is totally fair but that he still wants something new.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
Sagna would stay if we pay him what he deserves, for me a 100k a week is a great deal. There are not that many LBs in the world that can come in to Arsenal and do what Sagna does.
I am sure he will sign, losing a player on fee is not a option for us. He loves the club but the club must give him what he deserves.
100k a week + 3 years contract would cost us around 14m, if we do buy a new LB the price tag alone would be around 10m+ and around 70 to 80k a week.
Sagna must stay.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
Find it funny that people don't want us to sign a "RB version of Monreal" and then suggest Seamus Coleman.
We need a defensively solid RB who is a great defender first of all, someone who won't need extra protection because we don't offer that... that's not the Coleman I've watched in the past two seasons.

Yeah, watched him vs Chelsea, he didn't appear to be the no non-sense defender Sagna can be. But Everton were pushing their fullbacks unusually high up the pitch anyway.

He's no sagna defensively but he isn't a liability like Monreal is. I think some of the issues as MJ said are system wise with how Everton pushes the fullbacks forward a lot because of the lack of the quality they tend to have in attack
Sagna is obviously the best signing we could make but IMO I feel like the issues with the contract are more than just wages. Hopefully it gets done

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
Monreal isn't a liability, in a system where the team presses the opposition as soon as possession is lost so the fullbacks aren't caught out of position - he's a boss... watch him with Spain or Malaga and tell me again he's a liability.
It's the same with Coleman, he's naturally an attacking fullback so you need to cover for him at the back - well we don't do that here as well as other teams do. You don't want to find Mertesacker out of his comfort zone, I wouldn't count on the headless chicken that is Flamini either, and Arteta's legs look gone. So tell me who's going to protect the space that Coleman leaves when he makes his runs forward? Then people will call him a "liability" like Monreal when he's caught out of position a million times... only that Coleman will be first choice unlike Monreal
You won't find many fullbacks like Sagna, Gibbs or Zabaleta who can dominate the whole flank on their own, it's why we have to try everything to keep Sagna and continue to look for the ideal future replacement...

Montoya is a poor man's Coleman who is a poor man's RB-Monreal who is a poor man's...
How would you lot feel if we signed Loic Remy as the vital striker we've been looking for? Not Loic Remy in addition to a big name, but just Remy and Giroud as our strikers next season, possibly loaning Sanogo out or something. Or even keeping him as a 3rd striker.

Nothing wrong with Remy, Giroud and Top Top Top striker.
We must bring in a WC striker if we can but Draxler and Remy is good for now.

Wenger confirms Rosicky contract agreement
“Tomas Rosicky will stay,” he said. “We have an agreement with him and it will come out soon. I am absolutely adamant he has to stay at the club.”

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
The Daily Star claim Chelsea, Manchester United or Manchester City are all keen on luring the 31-year-old away from the Emirates Stadium and are prepared to tempt him with a contract worth over £100,000-a-week and a four year contract.
So far Arsenal have offered just a two-year extension on similar terms to his current £60,000-a-week deal and an apparent source has told the newspaper that while Sagna wants to finish his career with the Gunners, they must ‘wake up’ and meet his £6m-a-year demands or he will “100 per cent” leave the club this summer.
“He will leave 100 per cent for sure unless Arsenal wake up in the next couple of months and offer him new good terms.
“It would have to be in the region of £6m a season on a three to four year contract, plus a signing-on fee of around £6m.
“He wants to finish his career at Arsenal as long as the board give him the right deal.” A source close to Sagna told the Star

2 year contract on 100k a week, how about that?
4 year too long for 31 years old
we should reach compromise somewhere in between
lets do this

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
That's around £115,000 per week over three years. The bonus (if added to the weekly wages) would basically put him on £150,000 per week for the next three years.
That is a hefty, hefty sum.
I think he's deserving of the £115,000 per week but that signing on fee is pretty big.

If that's the case, Sagna is gone from Arsenal. I wish he would stay, but I understand if he does leave one of my favorite players and wish him luck anywhere he goes other than another EPL club.

I was thinking this today if we loose Sagna and Vermaelen that will be two senior defenders lost during the summer. Pure madness
