My two cents on best lead.. it's always a sh^t fight... If I had to choose, I would have said McConaughey edges it over Cranston.. But then who am I - both put in flawless performances playing very interesting characters. How do you choose.. really? Hardly cause for outcry that Cranston took it.

Cranston probably got it because he's a "TV actor". Who really cares.

As for support.. I kind of agree that Aaron Paul shouldn't have taken it.. He suited Jesse in a way but his acting was not flawless.. He was solid as Jesse, but anyone who has seen him in anything else will see that he's pretty average.

Although I have only seen S1 of GoT, I can imagine Dinklage's performances only improved. He should have won best support.

Exactly this 'greatest tv show ever' bs that gets me going.
BB is a very good tv show, with amazing writing and directing execution. But saying it is the best for what the past 5 years or so, or even worse of all time. Is just so wrong for me.

I wasn't kidding.. I literally think BB is the best TV series ever made.

I have only watched S1 of GoT at this stage (I know, I know)..
My impression is that Game of Thrones relies quite heavily on its quite complex and well developed fantasy world, the intricacies of the relationships and the political framework which seems to loosely mirror historical realities. It's quite interesting..

BUT.. also, from what I saw, I thought the majority of the acting was substandard (with the exception of a few, yes, including Dinklage - however it also casts porn stars ffs!) and at times looked more like something being aired on the History Channel than an HBO production. Some scenes I just found plain boring, whether that was due to the writing, the acting or me, I don't know.

I think its a quality show and once I give it a chance I am sure I'll fall in love with it too.. But I feel like some aren't recognising just how perfect BB was. From what I have seen, despite undoubted improvements in production from increased funding, I still doubt it is going to trump BB in my books..

Nah we all have our favourites. It all depends on what you like in the end. Emmys are like Balon d'Or(less obvious though). Some will be happy, others will be unhappy. but everyone will have their personal player/tv show they wanted to win.

I am a big TWD fanboy for example. That should be winning the best Drama etc. But wasn't even nominated cause they can't handle zombies :coffee:

Versacci likes person of disinterest(forever alone) but that ain't winning anything sadly for him.

Sure I have my personal favourites. But I try to be objective.

For example, I am a Louie C.K Fanboy. But I am not going to argue with someone about it not winning best comedy, because objectively I can appreciate why others wouldn't always see the funny side. Big Bang has a tried and tested formula of American Sitcom comedy which drums the same jokes again and again and although I do like the show, it hardly captivates me like Louie. However, I still appreciate why it would win more awards because it reaches a far wider audience, an is also purely comedy, whereas Louie is also a drama.

So although Louie is one of my personal favs, I can still recognise the many flaws it has - and there are many. And I don't dispute the fact it only won 1 emmy for best scene or whatever it was.

TWD really disappointed me btw - I had heightened expectations. Can't bring myself to continue it after S4 started so poorly.

It gets good towards the end. Basically Rick-less episodes are poor at the start.

Invested way too much time on TWD to quit, but yeah Rick carries it and it's bad when he's going loopy or not involved

It's still a very good show minus the odd really stagnant episode, but not in the bracket of BB, GOT and a couple others in the past for me

I accept it for what it is

Never heard of it til now, there are some good animated TV series around though which I haven't been paying attention to.

I also discovered Adventure Time the other week, which I know isn't strictly adult, - even though its been going for years.

Anybody think the Emmys needs an animated category?

It should since there are quite few around now

Heard Bob's Burgers is a good show too. Obviously Archer is around as well.

But yea, give Rick n Morty a go(watch at least 3 eps). You'd enjoy it.

Just started Utopia out of the blue cause Dost recommended it.

It's incredible lol. Not seen something which is so gripping in a long time. Unbelievable suspense. Great start and I hope it carries on like this.

If it's 9.99 and a thriller, I'll watch it. hmm

Utopia will follow a group of people who find themselves in possession of a manuscript of a cult graphic novel. The tome is rumoured to have predicted the worst disasters of the last century and the group soon find themselves targeted by a shadowy organisation known only as The Network.

Genres: Drama | Mystery | Sci-Fi | Thriller

The violence in Utopia is absurd, though entirely justified. Way more disturbing than GoT though. Laughing

That first episode with the spoon, my goodness.

Think that would be great. Also going to take this opportunity to plug Avatar the Last Airbender and a sequel series Legend of Korra again- highly recommended. Similar to Adventure Time, Avatar tends to have a large adult audience. It's also badass.
