Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V5
TBF I agree with RA on the tactical aspects of it. We weren't playing our game and we shipped 3 goals. Those are both negatives.
At the same time, I wish he could temper his response. If there was a "these are the bad things, BUT..." then I think we'd all agree wholeheartedly with you. The fact is we've won ugly a lot this season; at a certain point you have to appreciate the winning mentality that this team hasn't had for a while. At some point it's not a fluke and it's not "lucky".
Would I rather play death by football and win 10-0? Of course. But we also got 3 points. Both can be true at the same time.

Heil
I would definitely understand Red Alert's criticism if this game was away at Norwich or Palace or something, but this was a rainy f*cking night at Britannia in the middle of winter.

Poor Newcastle, f*cking City have been getting some of the most outrageously blatant calls go for them. (Sterling offside call still haunts me to this day)

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V5
It is difficult for everyone to play at Britannia Stadium , as City,Chelsea and Everton ( and the Toffees must thank a nonsense foul by Pennat) can confirm
The only discordant note was the defence, Skrtel and Toure had both a terrible performance today , they gave the feeling to miss everything, the marking of Skrtel on Crouch was embarassing ( how many similar errors has made Skrtel this year ?? )
Liverpool needed to score 5 goals to win at Stoke , 3 would not be enough... I understand Rodgers doesn't want play with 2 left handed defenders but I don't think this Liverpool can prefer a different partnership than Agger-Sakho
About the attack there is' little to say , Suarez and Sturridge are a sight for football. Nothing new..
Great impact on the match by Sturridge and infact he found immediately the goal. Suarez is Suarez while probably it 's underrated the improving the Sterling this year.
He improves from match to match.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V5
Yanga-Mbiva's (?) tackle on Nasri was horrible... the initial contact was bad enough, but to then swing your other leg around when the ball is nowhere near. Just disgusting.
About our game:
We needed some luck, but that's fine by me, these things happen now and again.
Suarez with two excellent goals and Sturridge looks to be sharp after his injury.
Downside obviously was conceding three times against a team who had averaged less than a goal per game prior to this match. We were also second-best in midfield all game long and I worry that our opposition in the future, too, may find it too easy to separate our three attacking players from our three CMs. We really struggled to pass our way up from midfield whereas Stoke managed to do that more effectively on us.
Anyway, big three points from a difficult fixture, good to continue from here.
Aston Villa to shock Arsenal tomorrow to give us one upset in this round?

Terrible, terrible challenge.
Won't even be looked at by the FA because he was given a yellow.
Nasri is out for the season.
They actually changed this rule. Now they can look at it even if the ref gave out a card. He deserves at least 5 games for that, that was a terrible terrible tackle.

I feel like I should start watching Pool games again, but I'm already locked into City. I just want Gerrard to win a title dammit.

He deserves to be banned for the rest of the season. 5 games would be injustice. Mbwia should have been sent of the first half with all the rigid tackling and no intention to play the ball.

I've been saying for a while that I wouldn't mind bans tied to the length of the injury for tackles like this. However long Nasri is out for + 3 games would be fair. Useless tackle that just cut short a player's season and possibly his chance at a WC, he should be punished severely.

Opta - Stoke conceded five goals in a Premier League home match for the first time, and the first time in the top flight since a 5-1 defeat against Liverpool in the old Division One in March 1982.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V5
Don't even try to compare the two
Its a swipe tackle its a red and a standard 3 match ban but nothing more.
The overreaction is hilarious.... Haidara was inches away from never playing again.
You see worse tackles than that every week, hell Debuchy's tackle against West Brom was worse and i didn't see anyone calling that the worst tackle ever and disgusting.
Comparing that.... to this
Now that's the definition of disgusting.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V5
Had Mbiva left it to the first contact it wouldn't have been too bad, but that second swing of the leg is nothing but malicious. Not as bad as studs-up lunge, but should be banned nevertheless.
And saying that just isn't cool.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V5
If you actually saw the game you would know the first contact doesn't actually touch him.... Nasri is still in control of the ball and his body.
Second swing was probably too aggressive, he meant to just bring him down but went too hard.
Again its nowhere near as bad as your making out.... its a red card but nothing more you see worst tackles in a weekly basis.
The difference being Nasri got injured thus the overreaction.... no one would even bring it up if he got up and walked it off.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V5
meh, doesn't even look that bad in the gif. see plenty of those every season, it's just nasri is built of straw. 3 match ban max imo. though the mcmanaman tackle was just reckless, like a drunk driver, while this was like a driver going out and running someone over who annoyed them
Nasri is a *bleep* but I have to feel bad for him if he is out for the season, was enjoying his best spell at City.

Why would he even do that to a fellow countryman during a world cup year?
He was a long shot to the French squad before this, but hes pretty much blacklisted now.

Hazard really has turned on the champagne football this season. It really shows how Mata was holding him back.
He looks a total different player when he is not constantly having his play slowed down by one of the laziest number 10s in the world today.

I don't. I hate it.
I analyse every game (and I don't even choose too, it's just a mental thing when watching football) and I can't even enjoy games anymore, because I'm thinking of tactics rather than just enjoying the game. Pisses me off, as it's hard watching a Liverpool game on the road.
I mean, we scored 5 on a cold rainy evening at Stoke and I'm not happy ffs. Argh. Going to sleep. 5:30 am.
I think you need to lay off FIFA or FM for a bit, pal
Haven't played FIFA in like a year. And FM has nothing to do with it. Just a mental thing, really.

Kicks like that can do a lot of damage. Even though the kick landed just below the knee given the speed and direction in which it landed it was almost a perfect shin kick in Muay Thai and believe me I've seen and experienced a lot of damage on a kick that simple.
Sad to say I knew Nasri was going to be laid up for a while when I saw that. Most likely tore up some ligaments. Oh well, not his biggest fan, but sucks to see that happen to anyone.

Honestly i agree with moal, the 17 game ban some of you guys are requesting is ridiculous, a straight red would of been justice.
