Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V5

Right, so, I know the previous thread could have taken a couple more pages, but we've got a full round of Premiership footy coming up today and starting a new thread will keep all this round's discussion in the same one. That's right, I'm starting this thread in spite of seeing this fearsome use of authority in the first Winter transfers thread yesterday:
I trust that CBarca will use his mod powers to keep my slightly premature new thread open and lock the previous version.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V5
And this is the New Year Day's round:
Swansea v Manc City
Arsenal v Cardiff
Crystal Palace v Norwich
Fulham v West Ham
Liverpool v Hull
Southampton v Chelsea
Stoke v Everton
Sunderland v Aston Villa
West Brom v Newcastle
Manchester United v Tottenham
City, Everton and Chelsea playing away to some of the better mid-table teams, surely there's gotta be an upset coming at least in of those matches. I guess you could mention Newcastle here, too.
I'm a little worried about our game against Hull given our injury / doubtful list (Gerrard, Sturridge, Sakho, Allen, Enrique, Flanagan, Ibe) and the fact Hull are in form.
Big games in the bottom part of the table for a number of teams, several of them could be seen as relegation six-pointers. So it promises to be a cracking round to kick-off 2014!

Chelsea will inevitably fall behind to a single goal (like they always do) the ref will refuse to send off Eto'o after injuring Lovren with a horror tackle (like they always do) and Chelsea will win the game with two flukey goals (like they have done for a while now)

Was half expecting Tan to name himself as manager.
Swansea 1 - 1 Manc City at half-time, a timely offside equaliser from the Swans there.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V5
1-1 Half time. Hopefully Swans can hold on and make this yet another away point dropper for citeh.
swansea was playing way too scared until city's goal. After which they woke up and went forward which I believe should exactly be the approach when facing city. If you allow them to play they will quite consistently come up with tennis score lines .
They may be unreal and gargantuan on attack but surprisingly its been found out (to all of ours joy of course) that they too are vulnerable at times while defending.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V5
Swansea played at least as good as City, but poor goalkeeping and inefficient attacks cost them
Well, Assaidi to sink Everton's ship.

Didn't this matchweek happen about a month ago..? What's the reason for them to be playing it an earlier date? Would have expected this round to be sometime during March/April, not now.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V5
I haven't seen United play well this season. Even the matches they had won with a 2+ goal deficit they barely looked in control.
They seriously need a midfielder or two. In fact they've needed one since 2010.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V5
By the way, massive result in the Sunderland v Aston Villa game, The Villans earning a 1 - 0 away victory. Eases the pressure on Lambert and Sunderland remain bottom of the table. Also Fulham's home win over West Ham a significant result.
