Casciavit, are you disappointed Tonga aren't going to be at the World Cup?

Cannot wait for the WC, the only issue (At least for me) might be the timezone difference

I think Ecuador are considered easy because none of the host cities next year are at 14 miles above sea level.
As for Japan, their match against Italy in the Confed Cup was amazing. I hope they bring the same entertainment in the WC.

I'd say Japan, Mexico, and the US are on roughly similar levels. It will largely depend on form and injuries as the competition approaches.BarrileteCosmico wrote:Who do you guys think is the best team in the North American/Asian pot?

Mexico
USA
I love you Red, but your ultimate hope of scoring is Jozy Altidore. Take a moment for that to sink in

No, our major hope of goals is the team as a whole. That has ALWAYS been the US's main strength... not any individual player. But go ahead Sepi, we all know you're ultimately the fair and balanced one around here.

Re: 2014 Brazil World Cup Group Stage Draw Discussion
I agree with you RO. Japan and US are very similar. Mexico had a manager that was feuding with some of its best stars (Vela of LaReal for example). This new manager is supposedly very solid and he is going to bring back Vela and others.
It's never a question of talent with Mexico... it always an issue of politics and corruption with that inept federation.

I don't see why USA can't get to the last 16 at least. Their unfairly treated like a figure of fun in the footballing world, but they always commit themselves well on the international stage.

For those of us that are lazy, or have access to Google:
World Cup Draw Simulator
I've run it multiple times and there is no doubt that this will be the most competitive World Cup in a while. Each time I run the simulator I come up with at least 3 groups of death.
As it relates to Merica!, the best groups I've found for us:
1. Brazil, Greece, Ivory Coast, USA
2. Uruguay, Russia, Ivory Coast, USA
3. Germany, Nigeria, Greece, USA
There will be no cake walks.

I'd say Costa Rica is currently the best team in concacaf.
And vela also declined his last call up from Vuce, so the problem wasn't Chepo.

I wouldn't put Japan on our level, but that's just me and I watch entirely to much soccer.

Re: 2014 Brazil World Cup Group Stage Draw Discussion
Japan aren't even the best team in Asia based on FIFA rankings. 2 good results and they are being over-rated as hell.
they lost to Belarus and Serbia last month ffs. BELARUS !!!
their keeper n CBs are among the worst of all time. Won't get more than 2 points at the WC.

One of the worst teams in the Confederations Cup, outside of the epic game against Italy they were pretty poor the entire tournament.
