Champions League: Match-day 6 Empty Champions League: Match-day 6

Post by iftikhar Thu Nov 28, 2013 2:27 pm

As we head into the final round of group games in December, there's a lot more to play for than we may have expected. Only 8 teams have progressed to next round while only 5 are out of competition. 19 teams will go into the final match-day to decide 16 (8 CL, 8 EL) remaining spots.

Some of the matches will be fought like there's no tomorrow:
Galatasaray-Juventus
Schalke-Basel
Napoli-Arsenal
Milan-Ajax

Group A: ManU through, Sociedad out while Shakthar (8P) & Leverkusen (7) scramble.

Group B: Madrid through while Juventus (6), Galatasaray & Copenhagen (both 4) have all to play for.

Group C: PSG through, Anderlecht out while Olympiakos & Benfica (both 7) scramble.

Group D: Bayern & ManC through while Plazen (0) can nick an EL spot if they beat CSKA (3) better than 3-2.

Group E: Chelsea through, Steaue out while Basel (8P) & Schalke (7) scramble.

Group F: Marseille out while Arsenal (12), Dortmund & Napoli (both 9) have all to play for.

Group G: Atletico through. Vienna (2) can nick a an EL spot if they beat Zenit (6) while Porto (5) must win.

Group H: Barcelona through, Celtic out  while Milan (8P) & Ajax (7) scramble.

I feel Shakhtar, Galatasaray, Olympiakos, Basel, Zenit & Milan will go through.

Group A: If Leverkusen play like did they against United, then it'll be United and Shaktar through

Group B: Would be lul worthy if Juventus fail to qualify, but it'll be Madrid and Juve through methinks

Group C: PSG and Olympiacos through

Group D: Bayern & ManC through

Group E: Chelsea and Basel to go through

Group F: No way we're losing 3-0 to Napoli. Arsenal and Dortmund to go through

Group G: Porto have been dire thus far. Atletico and Zenit to go through

Group H: Again, would be lulzy if Milan fail to qualify, but it won't happen. Barca and Milan to go through

Juve will play in "hell" so it will be a very physical and scrappy game. I bet we will see a red card in it. Gala need to win to go through though which will be very difficult. I think Juve will go through

Ajax only need a draw to go through tho no?? they won the first match between the two teams. Win or bust for Milan

Milan need only a draw to progress next game, while Ajax need a win

Nonetheless, can't wait to face Young Boys next year

Next matchday will be hard for me. One of Schalke and Basel will drop to the EL and I had so wanted both to proceed. Moreover, they easily *could* have proceeded both if Steaua wouldn't have managed to force them into draws! Sad

No love for Neverkusen, huh :-(. Lucky for me I fell asleep 20 mins into the game.

Neverkusen can still make it - but with Schalke and Basel it is certain that one of them will drop out. *That* is the problem.

Clockwork/jibers has visited Michel's bronze statue again and he can confirm Milan will face Bayern in the European Super Cup next year.

So Napoli have almost no chance of qualifying. What a bummer, they always get the hardest groups.

If they took the Europa even half-seriously under Mazzari, they could have been in pot 2.

But nope, they barely used any decent players and as a result they're stuck in a loop of earning no co-eff points/getting the group of death, getting low co-eff points etc etc.

The only way Benfica will go through is if they beat PSG, and Olympiacos can't beat Anderlecht in Greece.
Same with Sakhtar. If Leverkusen beat Sociedad, Shakhtar MUST beat United at Old Trafford to go through

Napoli will end up in the El and i agree with Tom in this one , Benitez will doubtless take the EL seriously , which is good news first for them (i mean , ffs) and then for Serie A as a whole. If only Fiorentina does the same , they can restore some balance , even though imo the German teams will keep their 4th Champions League place for some time and deservedly so.

don't know why but I can see OM putting up a much bigger fight than people are expecting. Still BVB's game to lose though.

As for Arsenal v Napoli, that's going to be a tough one. I think 3-0 will be a bridge too far for Napoli especially against Arsenal but who knows if Arsenal concede an early goal they might be able to pull a miracle.

Because OM are going to field the B team again Z... and our B team is truly atrocious. We only go about 14 deep with any kind of decent quality.

We'll get crushed.
