Re: OFFICIAL: FIFA Ballon d'or 2013 - Voting extended
The votes from captains usually go to their friends/ team-mates.
For instance, Mehssi has constantly revealed last year that he voted for Xavi, Iniesta and Aguerooooooo.
Casillas stated that his votes went for Ronaldo, Ramos and Iniesta.
Ronaldo meanwhile wanted to vote for his favourite player of all time..... Cristiano Ronaldo

Ronaldo never voted, he was surprisingly injured despite not missing any practices or matches, exactly on the day of votings, so his friend could vote for him xD
the guy is desperate for the award.

Messi will win IMO.
Coaches/captains of 100 of those shitty national teams will vote for Messi, as that's probably all they know right or wrong. and that'd be telling.

Of course he will. He got 41.6 % of the votes in a season in which he won nothing significant and in which Ronaldo won La Liga with a record breaking 100 points and reached the semis of the Euro Cup. Ronaldo's share: 23.7 %, almost half as much as Messi.Natalie Portman wrote:Messi will win IMO.

Messi also received 47.9 % of the votes in 2011 when he won the CL and La Liga.
Conclusion: Doesn't matter what Messi does. The share of votes he gets stays roughly the same. He won't get less than 30 % in any case. Question is: Will Ronaldo suddenly get more than his usual 20-ish % in a year in which he won absolutely nothing? And will Ribery get more than Ronaldo?
Betting on Messi for Ballon d'Or this year = printing money.

What matters the most is performing the best, which Messi again has done.

it wasn't meant to be a direct comparaison , but to imply that ronaldo's situation is similar to messi's last year :To say that Ronaldo 2013 = Messi 2012, it would mean that C.ronaldo had had a individual and collective season as good as Messi had in 2012, which is false. C.Ronaldo's year was inferior to Messi in every single way. He scored less, he assisted less and he even won less titles, he didn't win the golden boot, heck he wasn't even the top scorer in his own league.
both finished european top scorers
both finished CL top scorers
both had a retarted goal to match ratio
both failed to win anything significant .

Re: OFFICIAL: FIFA Ballon d'or 2013 - Voting extended
I think you missed my point, only redeeming argument for Cronaldo is that he scored numerically more than anyone else, hence the "Golden Shoe". Which this most certainly isn't. There is no other argument for him. He wasn't best individually, statistically (OPTA), didn't carry the team to most wins, and most certainly didn't win the most.farfan wrote:and why is messi being talked about here ? this isn't " get injured and miss out on your team's most important matches in 2013 " awardHarmonica wrote:Why is Cronaldo again being talked about in this thread? Where as Messi was best individually, statistically (OPTA), carried the team the most, and won La Liga and Supercopa.

How was Messi better statistically and individually considering that he scored 45 goals and Ronaldo 63 and still counting ?

Having more assists, being more effective scorer, having more dribbles, being more effective dribbler, having more tackles, passing better and so on? Individually Messi scores harder goals, more individual goals, and more important goals.Valkyrja wrote:How was Messi better statistically and individually considering that he scored 45 goals and Ronaldo 63 and still counting ?
Example, not just 1 statistic, but over 200 this season:
La Liga 13-14
CL 13-14
Unfit Messi is the world's second best player, after fit Messi.

Messi won Copa del rey, a minor title but still significant. Now why don't you mention that Messi also won the golden boot, something C.Ronaldo didn't manage to do even with all his goals, and that he broke like a million record.farfan wrote:it wasn't meant to be a direct comparaison , but to imply that ronaldo's situation is similar to messi's last year :To say that Ronaldo 2013 = Messi 2012, it would mean that C.ronaldo had had a individual and collective season as good as Messi had in 2012, which is false. How does not scoring against treble winning team in a match relate to being the best player of the year? Fit Cronaldo and Ribery didn't score even against Granada, or Nuremberg, respectively.DuringTheWar wrote:yeah we really saw that when Bayern ripped Barcelona to shreds, whilst messi went ghost modeHarmonica wrote:

The problem was not that he didn't score, but that he was totally useless in every way fathomable. To put in stats, he created 0 chances, he was dispossessed 3 times as much as he dribbled (6 - more than anyone else in the match), like you said he didn't score, had 0 shots on target, and maybe the most crucial aspect of playing unfit messi that ultimately destroyed Barcelona, which does not translate statistically, was his inability to close down Bayern players and challenge them physically in any way, unfortunately for barca this made it easy, childs play actually, for Bayern to transition from defence to attack and kill Barcelona on counter attacks, as barca defending with 9 fit outfield players, effectively made them lambs to the slaughter. This was most poignantly illustrated when for the one time messi actually did attempt to close down an opponent, ribery easily dropped him on his arse, launched a counter, and a few seconds later Bayern have raced up the pitch and scored.Harmonica wrote:How does not scoring against treble winning team in a match relate to being the best player of the year? Why are you hanging on one game of the year? What did fit Cronaldo do against Dortmund, nothing winning team, in two games, other than score a tap-in? Even Deportivo, relegated team put 4 past Barcelona, with fit Messi.DuringTheWar wrote:The problem was not that he didn't score, but that he was totally useless in every way fathomable.
