it seems performance and result can not go hand in hand together this season

TBH this season i haven't seen a performance yet from us, still trying to figure out how we've managed to get a great start.HEIL MEIN REDS wrote:it seems performance and result can not go hand in hand together this season

Re: Sunderland v Liverpool
It wasn't a bad performance, but Sturridge pretty much single-handedly won us a game - again. Deserves the most credit on each of the three goals.
It was an even encounter, but we had much more class up front and that decided it. But it's a real worry that we struggled so much to get the ball up there. Yeah, so if Lucas will miss the next game, I do welcome a different kind of set up in midfield.

One of the satisfying wins of the season so far.. didn't get completely outplayed by the opponents.

Re: Sunderland v Liverpool
Saying Sturridge singlehandedly won us the game is a very unfair thing to say. Touro was boss. Mignolet had 3/4 saves that really could've been goals. Sakho/Skrtel were both great. Suarez, while not as sharp, popped up with two goals. Moses had a very decent game.
My only criticism would be Enrique and Hendo. Neither had a great game. Let's hope Glen backs back sooner rather than later, he will fit in perfectly at that RWB spot. Hendo is very centrally but as a RWB he doens't have the skill set, which is not surprising since that is not his position.

Atm I'm f*cking in love with Kolo Touro. He's a breath of fresh air. Such a beast. Plays subtly dirty enough that oozes experience and class. Has got a warriors winning mentality. and literally never puts a foot wrong.

Good result, great to be 2nd. Performances still worrying though. A really convincing win next week would be nice.

Re: Sunderland v Liverpool
As a starting CB? Yeah, he's not. Sooner we ditch the 3 man CB thing and go back to our normal style of play, the better we'll play. We could of easily dropped points from SUNDERLAND, they were all over us in the first half. 352 is not the way forward. Luckily we scored from a handball and settled after that...Natalie Portman wrote:Kolo Toure man

Kolo was lucky he didn't give a penalty yesterday on three different occasions. All from set pieces, so I'm not talking about that foul that happened outside the box.
Glad to get the 3 points. Performance was shit. Again. Thank god for individual performances from Sturridge / Suarez / Gerrard / Mignolet. >.>"

Re: Sunderland v Liverpool
We need to go back to a 2 man defence.
Skrtel - Sakho should be our defensive duo away.
Skrtel / Sakho - Agger at home.
Toure / Ilori as the back up.

Re: Sunderland v Liverpool
I didn't think we played a 3-CB system there. I thought Toure was RB, though maybe I didn't pay enough attention.
Defensive systems haven't been our problem, however, it's been the midfield and getting the ball up and having some possession up there that's not dribbling.

We played a 352 with Henderson and Enrique yesterday as the full backs.
It was something like:
And it did not work. Individual performances won us the game yesterday.

Re: Sunderland v Liverpool
New system doesn't really get to work until 5-6 games into it at least... probably closer to 10.

Re: Sunderland v Liverpool
What do you mean it did not work, we won the game. We also outperformed United comfortably with the same system. Sadly defending set pieces hurt us.something-red wrote:We played a 352 with Henderson and Enrique yesterday as the full backs.
