Re: Arsenal Rumours Thread
There is no way Atletico Madrid will sell Costa at the moment, they are doing well and are involved in the title race. We could probably try a cheeky loan bid for David Villa, i think he'd be tempted.

Isnt Villa supposed to be a starter there ? Why would he tempted to move to Arsenal when there's a WC approaching and is doing fine at his current club ?

We need Lewandowski to win the league, CL can wait until next year. I want us to win the realistic target.

Villa won't leave. Neither will Costa.
The players I personally think we can get are
1) El Shaarawy - enough money will get him
2) Morata
3) Mitroglou
4) Benteke

My bad, just remembered Atletico play a 4-4-2 with Villa and Costa, too used to seeing clubs play 1 upfront.
Realistically there aren't enough world class strikers available at the moment. What about a cheeky loan bid for Cavani, surely he must be fed up with his role at PSG. What about Jovetic

how much?would it be a waste to play him up top?best as Left inside forward
there is inevitable sense with Italians that they go back home at some point though

Arsenal are interested in FC Basle defender Fabian Schar, confirms agent
Arsenal are one of a number of European clubs who want to sign FC Basle defender Fabian Schar, his agent has revealed.
The Gunners have been strongly linked with a move for 21-year-old Schar in recent weeks after his eye-catching performances in the Champions League.
Arsene Wenger is believed to be on the lookout for another defender, with Thomas Vermaelen’s future up in the air, and Schar’s agent says Arsenal are keen on his client.
‘He is happy at Basle, where there is a great atmosphere within the club,’ said Dimitrios Papadopoulos.
‘Arsenal? I can confirm we have had contact with English clubs who want to sign him.
‘There is also interest from Italian and German clubs, but we have more contact from England.’
Schar is rumoured to be available for around £6million in January with Basle said to be keen on raising funds to strengthen their team in other areas.

Thankfully for us, he is Egyptian
seriously, think Milan would sell for 30m but that is if Arsene sees SES is worth 30m to offer

I dont mind SES but 30m is too much imo, if we going to spend big I rather get a real striker.

Re: Arsenal Rumours Thread
How I'd feel about Diego Costa at Arsenal would be exactly how I currently feel about Phil Brown managing Southend; I want them to do well, but I will still hate them. Costa's antics are Drogba-like and it would infuriate me as much as his goals and subsequent team success would delight me.
Still, I've little doubt we have been watching him, and we probably could bid the required amount to trigger his supposed release clause, but the player himself will probably reject a move, simply because there is no great incentive to move in January other than money, and that is balanced out by the fact that he has a better chance of being called up for Spain if he's playing in Spain. Moving from Atletico to Arsenal at this stage would be a sideways move, in as much that we're in very similar positions.

Re: Arsenal Rumours Thread
Diego Costa. El Shaarawy. Lavezzi. All on our shortlist. For a January, any of them would be surprisingly welcome.
Diego Costa has no reason to leave. El Shaawawy is injury-plagued right now. Lavezzi, well, is he all that?! Never been a huge fan.
Elsewhere, Kostas Mitroglou has signed a new deal with Olympiakos. His £6.7m release clause has been removed: http://yhoo.it/1kne9Br

Don't really know about Costa's alleged antics/behavior, but I'm inclined to believe he's not worse than Suarez
edit: don't think he's coming though. Don't see us bringing in big names of any sorts in January

Costa is pile dream for this winter I think. Lavezzi is interesting option, I like him a lots back in Italy. Put him and Theo on the wings to terrorize the defense with their sheer work rate, and reserve Podolski exclusively for CF. But I'm afraid we might end up with someone like Menez out of all PSG players

Menez is heavily linked with Juve right now... as they are working on a Pogba deal.
Lavezzi is a dilemna for me. He does everything right and then utterly fails on his final ball, whether it be a pass or a shot. He gets so many opportunities at PSG too since he's the one defenses choose to leave open with Ibra and Cavani on his line. Can't question his skill or desire. Just seems to miss that final touch. Turning 29 in may too, so you can't expect it to suddenly appear.
BUT, Lavezzi is really a proper winger, which is what Arsenal need...

Re: Arsenal Rumours Thread
Arsenal told that the cost of buying Atletico Madrid's Diego Costa will be at least £32m
Arsenal have been warned they must pay £32million to sign Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid next month.
The Gunners have repeatedly scouted the 25-year-old during a season in which he has scored 21 goals in as many matches since replacing Radamel Falcao as the club’s principal striker.
Arsene Wenger is believed to have sent chief scout Steve Rowley to Spain with instructions to report back on Costa’s final two matches before their winter break: a Copa del Rey tie against Sant Andreu and a league game against Levante.
Arsenal are keen on bringing in a centre forward next month despite the return to full fitness of Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott, who both provide alternatives to Olivier Giroud and Nicklas Bendtner.
Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema remains high on Wenger’s list but Costa’s superb form has attracted attention from a number of other clubs including Chelsea.
Atletico will face AC Milan in the last 16 of the Champions League, meaning Costa would be ineligible for European competition were he to move to Emirates Stadium next month.
However, for that to happen, Wenger will have to meet Costa’s release clause because Atletico remain unwilling to sell one of their most prized assets given their progress this season.
Standard Sport understands Arsenal are yet to fully explore the nuances of Costa’s buy out clause — mindful of the complications they faced when attempting to trigger a similar aspect of Luis Suarez’s contract at Liverpool last summer — but they have been told it will cost them £32m to prompt a move.
Arsenal have the funds despite spending £42.4m on Mesut Ozil in the final throes of the last window but Wenger is yet to decide whether Costa is worth that figure.
There is also uncertainty over whether the player would be keen on a move. He is thought to be open to the idea of playing in the Premier League but is desperate to play for Spain at the World Cup and may wish to remain there for the time being.
Costa was born in Brazil but was granted Spanish nationality earlier this year after a tug of war between the two countries.
