Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V2
- Mata should start now no question about it, if Mou doesn't use him next game, just go to show he's biased.
- Moyes is at fault for the loss, sub out Kagawa for whatever reason, using one of the most predictable central midfield in the league.
- City defense looks non existent, Villa balls went straight to their strikers w/o any problem.
- Swansea could have 90% possession for everybody care but their crossing is the worst I've seen so far this season from any team.

I am not sure about loosing...we might draw this one (OR win heavily...we need just 2-0), we have never learnt to capitalise on the drop of points by other teamsMcAgger wrote:Rev wrote:Butt wrote:it will be even better when you lose

Didn't see the game so can't comment on anything related to it.Ion Creanga wrote:Paulinho was horrible today, i was watching the game with my brother (Spurs fans), he gave him headaches, he's not Tottenham level, he didn't bring anything and lost many balls... Dembele, Sigurdsson and Eriksen were very good, Kyle Walker had a solid game, and unfortunately for Chiriches i don't see how he'll get his chance to prove his worth in the league with Dawson and Vertonghen there.. It'll be very e interesting to see if they can make the top 4.. EPL this year looks very good, competitive and entertaining.
Chelsea looked strong today, i think they'll fight for the title.
Chiriches could snatch a starting spot this season. AVB rarely throws players in...there are some cases like Soldado and Paulinho but those are for obvious reasons. Lamela for example isn't so clear cut. Neither was Lloris last season. Chiri will get time eventually. He'll be sure to play in cup games and such, and if he impresses he could take over Dawsons spot.

I was flamed for saying Aston Villa will surprise a few this year. Lambert aka Art Morte working wonders.
Soton looking very good so far too. Still disappointed with them sacking Nigel Adkins but football is a harsh sport.

Also at all United fans and non-EPL fans that were raging at Liverpool fans saying Moyes will flop at United and us being bitter. He's a limited coach.
Has United scored from open play since their first game against Swansea?

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V2
I think Arsenal will win the premier league...or at least very, very strong contenders.
Along with City, Arsenal looks the most balanced, intelligent, technical, and incisive team. These two clubs imo are better than the rest at cutting open teams.
Look at how well Arsenal are playing amid an injury crisis. In a month, they'll get a bunch of quality players back which will be like new signings for them.
8 away wins in a row, tells it's own story as well. Arsenal's mentality has finally improved, and they are getting a bit of a ruthless streak.
This year is the most exciting Prem bar none.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V2
To be honest, we're where we should be right now. Winning against Fulham and Sunderland isn't too impressive, given how average both teams seem to be so far, and you'd expect us to beat Stoke at home. Likewise, you'd also expect us to beat Spurs at home, even if they're a main rival. We've not really had a difficult run of games, unlike the others.
I think teams need to play a minimum of 15 games before we can say who'll be challenging for the title. By that point, everyone would played against most tactics and would have had some big games, so you would get a stronger indication as to how good they actually are. I wouldn't be too surprised if we continued to beat the mid-table to relegation teams but faltered against the bigger sides, as our record in those games as of late has been terrible.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V2
Yea exactly. You don't win the PL after 6 games, or 15 even. We have played teams who are in relegation zone or near to it. Tottenham was a difficult game and Swansea too. Rest we should have anyways. Including tottenham who we win 90% of the time at home.
Our next 8 games are all against teams like United, Chelsea, Liverpool. It should be more clear then if we are in it or not.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V2
I have grown to hate possession football lol.
Also i don't think Arsenal will win the league.... this season is unerringly like 07/08 when they last challenged to me.
They feel short then and i feel they will again, mainly due to lack of genuine quality behind their first choice CBs and CF.
I want them to win it though.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V2
That said, success in the league is more often about taking the points you SHOULD.RealGunner wrote:Yea exactly. You don't win the PL after 6 games, or 15 even. More importantly, Arsenal have done this while not looking "good". Yesterday at Swansea, there were a few moves of utter brilliance. Two of them led directly to goals. The crisp passing, the movement in behind, the vision to see the final pass, and of course the finish... on two occasions it came off to brilliant effect yesterday. However, the overall impression I got from the match was that it was very evenly poised. Swansea actually had the majority of possession in the match (58%) and looked good value for it. Arsenal away from home, without possession, without Cazorla, and without Walcott managed to take 3 points.
If Arsenal really are going to push for the title this year, then these are the games that will get them there, winning away from home, without a full squad, against quality "second-tier" opponents. It's a very good win for Arsenal.
