Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V2
That said, success in the league is more often about taking the points you SHOULD.RealGunner wrote:Yea exactly. You don't win the PL after 6 games, or 15 even. We have played teams who are in relegation zone or near to it. Tottenham was a difficult game and Swansea too. Rest we should have anyways. Including tottenham who we win 90% of the time at home.
Our next 8 games are all against teams like United, Chelsea, Liverpool. It should be more clear then if we are in it or not.
More importantly, Arsenal have done this while not looking "good". Yesterday at Swansea, there were a few moves of utter brilliance. Two of them led directly to goals. The crisp passing, the movement in behind, the vision to see the final pass, and of course the finish... on two occasions it came off to brilliant effect yesterday. However, the overall impression I got from the match was that it was very evenly poised. Swansea actually had the majority of possession in the match (58%) and looked good value for it. Arsenal away from home, without possession, without Cazorla, and without Walcott managed to take 3 points.
If Arsenal really are going to push for the title this year, then these are the games that will get them there, winning away from home, without a full squad, against quality "second-tier" opponents. It's a very good win for Arsenal.

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V2
lol you should visit the Swans forum, many of them think they were better just cuz they had more possession...Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:I have grown to hate possession football lol.
Also i don't think Arsenal will win the league.... this season is unerringly like 07/08 when they last challenged to me.
They feel short then and i feel they will again, mainly due to lack of genuine quality behind their first choice CBs and CF.
I want them to win it though.
I don't hate Possession football though, but I prefer "Gegenpressing"

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V2
I just read somewhere that ManUtd had a similar start to the season in 2002-03 and they went on to win the league. There is no way that is comparable with the current season due to millions of reasons.
But if I want any team to win the league this season it is Arsenal...because of Mert, Özil, Goaldloski, Gnabry

That season was competitive as f*ck lol.
Everyone kept taking points of each other.... if i recall correctly that was the season we won 3-1 at Highbury and was top going into the new year.

Arsenal fans being modest
Arsenal look the best in the PL right now. They are taking points where it matters and where other go and mess up. Kudos to them.

Stoke 0 - 1 Norwich @ HT
would be hugely important points on the road for Norwich and put a big dent in Stoke's fine start to the season.
In more important news: Sunderland v Liverpool kick-off just some 90 minutes away

Not really, we struggle too much in midfield and getting the ball up in a controlled fashion. But once we get it up there we are causing plenty of problems all right.RealGunner wrote:Liverpool looking very good.

I kinda like it but when it comes to playing organised teams it falls flat on its face ( see Hull)

Re: Barclay's Premier League discussion '13-'14 V2
Back then Arsenal's average squad age was 4+ years younger than it is now. This is a team of experienced footballers who have sacrificed playing pretty for getting results, while other teams at EPL have gone through vast changes this year and are going through transitions. I'd rarely say this, but Arsenal are the most stable team in England right now.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:I have grown to hate possession football lol.

It is Arsenal's best chance to win EPL this season.

The joke of it is, which is so very worrisome is that Eriksen was overlooked with majority of our fan base thinking Coutinho was enough.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Sounds similar to us lol.Art Morte wrote:Not really, we struggle too much in midfield and getting the ball up in a controlled fashion. What does everyone think about Fulham and Martin Jol?
He is supposed to be sacked tonight or tomorrow. Right decision?

Yeah I think it's the right decision. Also need to get rid of Berba. They literally have the laziest team in the whole league. Berba, Ruiz, Taraabt, Hangeleand.
