True Detective || HBO

Reviewers have seen the first three episodes. Nearly everyone saying it's good but nowhere near as good as season 1. Vince Vaughn is getting the highest praise out of all the actors.

Comparisons will always be there. Probably best to watch it as it is.

Knew Vince would kill his role. I'll be happy if it's 60% as good as True D. I've seen some shots and people saying it feels a lot like a Michael Mann movie which I can definitely see and like.

Never expected it to top the first season but still pretty excited.

It has never seemed like it was going to be anything like the first season. So I don't understand why it gets hate because it's not as good or the same as the first. Comparisons are inevitable though.

Can't wait.

First ep was great imo

Colin Farrell seems like he's gonna kill it, his character is outta control

Taylor Kitsch's character has PTSD or something, trying to get himself killed. I'm trying to figure out if that girl he was seeing was the girl's missing little sister? If not, it likely ties into the murder.

A lot of exposition without moving the plot forward enough but I enjoyed the ending. Collin Farrell's character Ray was great, that guy is nuts.

couple of quick musings post episode though;

the intro is terrible

I know season 1 had music playing throughout certain scenes to create/convey more strongly a certain  atmosphere but I swear it wasn't to this extent, I mean it's playing like every scene, quite often randomly and needlessly IMO. IDK, it just felt like this episode was trying too hard.

I' ll watch it this evening , very curious.

Loved every bit of it. Started out strong.

What a massive difference among  intro TD1 ( fantastic)  and this ( awful)
but we knew it , it is difficult to replicate TD1 , starting with intro.t hey could find  a intro better than this though , it wasn't even difficult  . Patience.

Anyway , seems legit .
I appreciated this 1st  episode and I can't wait for 2nd episode.

Pls ppl who knows the name of song sang by that girl at bar scene towards the end of episode ?      It I entered in my  ears , I hope it exists ( it could be perfect as intro..)

Yeah the song the girl was singing in the bar is a million times better than the theme song.

As far as the episode, very solid. But I definitely have to rewatch it again.

I watched it at work on my phone and have no idea what's going on. Collin Farrell character definitely stood out. No idea what Vince Vaughn's character supposed to be. And I didn't really catch any of the names. terrible way to watch the pilot. So will rewatch.

Btw it appears that the missing girl is not Paul's girlfriend, that seems to be another character.

I didn't get Kitsch's character. Was he having difficulty getting it up during the sex scene? or what's going on?

Missed it when it aired on my TV. Hoping for a recap tomorrow.

Pretty sure he's impotent. Need some more info of his suspension then. Did he accept or not? Might rewatch it tomorrow.

From what I understood, we know the girl was the one who was actually offering sex, Kitsch wasn't soliciting for sex, but he got blamed for soliciting after he brought the girl in and she basically lied. But that's stupid because don't all officers have dispatch recorders to record everything. So they could have just checked his radio recorder.

Anyways, we need more info.

Well pretty sure he's an honorable of the guys with PTSD. He didn't do anything but accepted his suspension instead of revealing his erectile disfunction

Even had to take a blue pill but I think he's dealing with PTSD. His gf said he was in the army, I believe.

I still don't really understand the suspension either. I originally thought he had just reported that woman and that's why some of his officers were clowning him after. But then that wouldn't have gotten him suspended.

I enjoyed the first Ep, has legit potential. But the intro is one I refuse to watch ever again. Made my ears bleed.
