Exactly Freeze.
I mean, it's quite obvious Pizzollato has his own, maybe not unique, but own style of storytelling and I think he is going to stick to that. I expect season 2 to be dark again and to have some slow burn moments again with an intriguing plot just like S1.

I have no concerns at all that this will turn into a generic detective show. Maybe if it goes on for 5 or 6 seasons, then it might. But not now yet. And I also don't give into this 'nothing will ever match up to Rust and S1' bullshit. That's fanboy polarising. I mean, I truly love Rust and their will never be a character like him again - he is special Very Happy but maybe we're going to see another GOAT character in a whole other vibe of GOATNESS in this series. And yes, S1 set some pretty ridiculous high standards, but only because of that I'm not so pessimistic to rule out that S2 can't find it's own path in some way and become special in it's own way as well.

I have faith in Nic in that he'll produce another good story for this upcoming season.

Late to arrive at the party. Smile Embarassed Watched season 01 ... and oh my God ! What the hell was that.
Normally I dont watch TV series a lot. But this looked a real deal at the first glimpse of its poster some 5, 6 months back itslelf. Still couldnt watch it as I couldnt get a stream which ticked all my preferences. Finally I just my braved my shitty net and downloaded the entire season 1 and sat down to watch last week the 1st episode.

Nothing additional to say. FRIGGING EPIC !! That character study these guys have come up with here is something unreal, something we struggle to find even in quality films these days. That consistency which they managed throughout the 8 hours without letting the grip go loose is something.
Its a whole new level of storytelling. A masterpiece. Oh my god.  Cursing myself now that I missed it until now.

Episode 3 was my favorite.

This season 1 could be like the Dark Knight of the series. But then I think if anyone can recreate the magic in s02 it is Pizzolatto. Have no concerns as long as he is  penning the script. Actors and other things will come good.

Btw Rustin Cohle that character will go down probably as one of the greatest I have seen ever on screen. Once again props first to Pizolatto for creating and then to Sin Nombre fame Fukunaga for directing and MM for literally living it. If that performance was in a film then it would have gone down in the all time hall of fame list.

Is Vince Vaughn Destined To Ruin 'True Detective' Season 2?
I have my doubts about casting Vince Vaughn in this series . Don't see him being hard ass in any movie. Can the actor best known for his comedic roles actually break into the serious drama game with "True Detective," Lets debate?

I think Vaughn is going to be great. Just because he is a comedy actor makes it a "good" thing for me. Because people won't expect much of him in this strange world, but I think he has the acting quality to pull off a character in the world of True Detective.

Remember we still don't know his character's persona. Maybe his character is a sort of sadistic, silly guy in a way as well. Maybe a portion of what we know of Vaughn as an actor will fit with his character.

Hell I trust the writer and producers because obviously they had a good idea of who to cast in this position and they went with him. So clearly they see something there which he can bring to the True Detective world and they have faith in him that he can pull off whatever role and task he is faced with.

Bryan Cranston was known for his comedic roles before Breaking Bad and he absolutely nailed Heisenberg.

He can do it, whether he will remains to be seen though. I hope he can but I'm not going to make an opinion on his role before I see a couple of episodes first.

I think about Vaughn's villain in Domestic Disturbance (despite how awful that movie was) and think if he channels that role (cunning and sadistic sociopath) in this one for TD, he might just be a great character on the show.

Comedy acting is underrated anyway, it's not easy to make people laugh and to be a good comedy actor, yet people tend to not take comedy acting seriously.

The first season of true detective was great. However, isn't season 2 going to be completely unrelated to season 1? There's very little guarantee in such a case that the quality of the first season is going to transform into the second season when it's basically a new show under the same name.

Reviewers have seen the first three episodes. Nearly everyone saying it's good but nowhere near as good as season 1. Vince Vaughn is getting the highest praise out of all the actors.
