yeah fifth or fourth

I can PM you episode 7 stream if you want

Thanks for the information.

With all the unanimous praise and exposure it's getting, I don't think they'll have too much trouble getting some elite actors in for next season, I'm sure it will be great.

I'm more concerned that the director won't be returning for the second season. One of the reasons it's been so good is that, rarely for a TV show, it's had one director and writer throughout the season, usually they have multiple shooting different episodes.

A little underwhelmed. But loved episode 7 nonetheless. One thing I hope people realize right now or else they will be disappointed is that there won't be any major twists as you would expect. The writer has said multiple times that's it's not his style to fool his viewers. Pizzolatto has also stated stated 85% of the plot was already given out on the first episode.

tbh it's difficult also only to image an actor close to interprete the character as McConaughey. Incredibile, he is even superior to plot of the story. He was simply perfect. Probably he doesn't continue also because he feels the impossibilty to replay in this way and I mean sometimes it's better not ruin the "legend" . Pity, anyway.

ffs read only now (as said finished to see the 6th and so waited to post so as to avoid potential spoilers ) the damn theories posted from RG on page 10.
Very schocking to think it can make sense , also if of course it is a bit delaited as said by El Gunner.
I mean, could you image Maggie to kill his son in case?
Anyway I am sure last episode won't be banal so I can wait of all.

not seen 7th I am waiting for Italian subtitles so I don't know if there were new things but as far as I understood  it was a "flat" episode

Does anyone else fear Rust might die? I've got this weird jitter in spine that keeps poking towards that direction.

Lawn Mower guy is Remus from Boardwalk, I know a few of us watch it, never recognised him when he first appeared.

I don't think he's the Yellow King either, I still think that's just a symbol or deity they worship and sacrifice to.

Why would The Yellow King be cutting grass hmm

Though the meth dude who killed himself did call him the yellow king so I guess he is.

One of the guys at the start of the trailer for episode 8 sounds British.

Yeah Firenze, I have the same mindset. The Yellow King is not going to be a specific person. It's just a deity the cult worships. In fact, I'm even going to refrain from calling them a cult now after episode 7.

Now they are the just the Tuttle family. Because I think it's all in that family.

Btw just wait until Marty see's Audrey's paintings that she's selling. I have a feeling it has a lot to do with the case and it'll blow his mind when he finally sees them.

I do have a strange feeling that Marty will see the paintings all the way at the end of the show after everyone has been caught and Rust has most likely been killed. He will see it and I think that would be the cliffhanger they end this first season with.

Maybe not, though, that would be a little too cliche for Pizzolatto.

Plus the show is an anthology no point in leaving cliffhangers, since they're not continuing the same story next year.

The theory which Le Samourai posted unnecessarily raised my expectations. Sad

If Errol (or the Tuttle family) turn out to be the killers in some sense, it's gonna turn out to be a huge disappointment for me. But given the show's theme, it seems relevant since it actually focuses on true detective work.

The problem with Internet is that it shows every possibility to you. so nothing can actually surprise you cuz you've read all the possibilities.

But then again the Show is about Rust and Marty. mostly Rust.

I also feel that Rust will die. A heroes death while solving this case would be would be very fitting. A redemption to a very troubled soul and mind.

finally seen the 7th episode. Decent but surely lower than 2 previous, it was an episode of transition to next and last episoed pratically.
That lawn mower sounded me strange, it is he really the spaghetti monster?

yes I have also the feeling that Audrey will be an important character for last episode. She sounds as an enigmatic personality, tbh he was so since infancy when he drawed sexual images but  this is a thought concerning her adolescence of course.
Also for me those painting will be something of important.
I mean , it's a story that for obvious reasons intertwines with the symbols and, drawings and now these painting will be a banal detail?  Considering  the authoress Audrey then  , tbf she is so so different, she has an importance so much higher than the other sister to make me think she will be a minor character..

For me also Rust will die. His  constant references to death as a release, a hope that is Really the end of everything  (and not as said the black woman who revealed Carcosa) make me think that he will die really.

Le Samourai wrote:"You know Carcossa?"

I don't agree with the episode being not as good as the previous ones. Personally I wasn't underwhelmed or anything. Thought it was really well done if you consider what they wanted to show in this one.

The primary objective was to show the new age Rust and Marty and how they sort out their differences again to start working together while finding new clues and new links to the old case. In that aspect it was exceptionally done. It was a great build up to the final episode which seems action packed.

I think most of the mystery is done and now it's going to be a conventional ending where they find the place, the people and put an end to all of this. I hope I am wrong and there are few tricks and twists left. Some more mysteries and a definite open ending. Not a cliff hanger obviously. I still think Marty's ex Father in law is involved. Maybe one of the cult members. That lawn mower guy is a red herring. Doubt he is the cult leader, but a member or someone who is just there to clean up the mess and all.

Marty was amazing in this episode. Edged Mcconaughey slightly. That scene with the black woman was amazing. "You know Carcosa" Line fml. "Death isn't the end" shook Rust lol. Which brings me to a bit of philosophy

The circle of time thing. Rust is a heavy believer in that and the show does point out to that theory time and time again in many ways. IMO Rust expects to die. His way of life is based on existentialism and he doesn't see a light at the end of the tunnel. That bit where he says"I hope she was wrong about death not being the end" was really really strong. Maybe he has decided to commit suicide after ending everything. Maybe he will just go all guns blazing and take a bullet in the end without any regret.

Most awaited finale since ever

Dat timing to post the exact ideas Proud

Personally the lawn mower guy is a red herring. Few people have been saying that he has scars while few are saying he can't be the guy. It can go either way

1) IF it's him, then the show is just being conventional and the ending will be logical

2) IF it's not him then the show is adding another layer to the mystery.

Both are fine.

yes  , simply the previous episodes were so amazing that the 7th seemed almost "normal" if compared but I loved it  too , of course.
Tbf this series was  of a high standard for all 7 episodes it's really difficult to find some lack.

Post by El Gunner Tue Mar 04, 2014 9:14 pm

I can see why some might have been a bit underwhelmed, but as said by others, this was all to just set it up for the finale. And in that case it has been done brilliantly.

I personally would love another twist, even if it is just one. And I never thought about it but Rust might very well die. It got me thinking, that line that RG mentioned where Rust said about he hopes death isn't the end and someone also mentioned that Rust dying would be a good hero's end to the story and of course a guy who isn't into faith and religion, and has a very complex view on life - will then just come to rest by means of dying.
So I won't be gutted if that happens, just hope he doesn't commit suicide, that'll be shit imo.

Episode 8 is going to rock so much... You just know it.

Ah. Most likely reddit. Somehow spoilers always make it over there

My theory is that the people who work in the studio(scrubs like water boys etc) randomly post spoilers on the internet which then gets recycled across.
