Why did Pep transfer list Gustavo?
I cant believe Pep transfer listed a midfielder . For a midfielder loving manager that was unexpected , So what is the reason?
not good enough for passing game? doesnt fit the system? cant play as Anchor man? or are there better players in his position in Bayern?

Re: Why did Pep transfer list Gustavo?
Errrr because Bayern have Thiago, Kroos, Muller, Martinez, Schweignsteiger and Gotze.
Heck Lahm and Alaba are very comfortable there too.
Gustavo was always going this summer even if Jupp stayed.
Just like Gomez he needs to be playing week in week out in a world cup year.
Having quality footballers ride the bench only works for so long.

Goetze,Muller arent in a contention for his place. Alaba and Lahm are their full backs so we can leave them as well.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Errrr because Bayern have Thiago, Kroos, Muller, Martinez, Schweignsteiger and Gotze.

But yeah there is superior player in Javi Martinez if they need a DM and that might be the reason he is kicked out of the roster.

Re: Why did Pep transfer list Gustavo?
When Bayern play a 4141 they are....
Alaba and Lahm maybe are fullbacks but Alaba plays CM for his country and Lahm has been used as a CM regularly by Pep so its definitely can option.
Also both Thiago and Schweinsteiger have been used as the " 1" so far so he would be like 4th in that pecking order.
As I said Gustavo would have left anyway as he's not going to sit around in a WC year but he's definitely not going to stay now.

They have plenty of midfielders and Martinez is ahead of him. Gustavo is a player who should be starting every game.

Because he's an limited footballer who's massively overrated by football fans.

Re: Why did Pep transfer list Gustavo?
He's not limited and he's not overrated.... if anything by the majority he's underrated as many people say he's only in Brazil's team because he plays for Bayern which is bullshit.Gil wrote:Because he's an limited footballer who's massively overrated by football fans.
He wouldn't improve any team but he would improve any team outside the big trio.

Re: Why did Pep transfer list Gustavo?
I would not mind Gustavo at all. Infact, a midfield trio of Lucas - Gustavo - Gerrard would be fawesome but unfortunately BR wants a goalscoring threat in the midfield. Buying him would mean one of them will be benched or be rotation option and I don't see that happening.McAgger wrote:He would improve any midfield instantly. GTFI Rodgers

Re: Why did Pep transfer list Gustavo?
And definitely what Arsenal needs and would address many of their problems. But assertions like Gustavo would improve any midfield overrate him in my opinion.Great Leader Sprucenuce wrote:Pep also sold Yaya Toure.....BarrileteCosmico wrote:Man I wonder what team Pep has been watching then...

Also pep sold yaya but also turned busquets into a world class player. Yaya would mot have been happy as second string or cb.

Re: Why did Pep transfer list Gustavo?
Meh, players of his ilk are a dime a dozen nowadays.aleumdance wrote:anyone who think Gustavo is Overated HAS NEVER WATCHED BAYERNGil wrote:Because he's an limited footballer who's massively overrated by football fans.
Most players would look great playing in a stacked team and surrounded by world beaters. I don't think he would look anywhere near as good in a different system.
His limited range of passing and vision was exposed in the Confed Cup. Brazil struggled to play out from the back in every game and relied on the counter attack a far too much.
I love his tactical flexibility, workrate, stamina and athleticism though but you'd think he was Redondo, Viera or Keane in their prime if you heard opinions from fans alone.
Players like Capoue, Gonalons, Sandro, Fernando (Porto), Imbula, Schneiderlin etc are just as good or perhaps even better.
