About Gustavo, the criticism of Arsenal and Wenger is ridiculous imo. It wasn't for a lack of trying on Arsenal's part, the guy wanted to stay in Germany and that's that. Have they been poor in the transfer market? Of course, but this isn't the transfer you criticize Arsenal for.

Given the likely capture of Astori in the next few days, I think it's unlikely that anyone else arrives in the centre of defence for them, though I'd have rather them waited until this stage and brought in both Astori and Sahko rather than Albiol.

You can rule them out as they're signing Astori.

As for Albiol he'll help out in terms of being a good passing CB option but I think Napoli over paid for him. All that aside he's a good 3rd CB.

At his best he's highly capable, however he's been protected from criticism for a good deal of his career by the fact that he plays for Cagliari. I personally don't feel that he's a top central defender but he'll improve Napoli's squad and he'll give their defence an aerial presence that they've sorely lacked for a while. Britos is the only other defender who brings this to the table at Napoli but he's an otherwise average defender. We shall see just how good Astori is when he plays Champions League football on a regular basis now, though it must be noted that he has not yet peaked and should continue to improve with a move to a bigger club.

I agree about Albiol, I certainly don't think he's a poor player. Napoli's stocks in the centre are starting to become bloated now though, I feel it's certain that Fernandez will leave now and I still feel that Napoli need to address their issues at fullback. They still have time to act of course, so for now the jury is still out on just how well they've invested their money as a whole this summer. They've done a fine job thus far but there's still plenty of work to be done.

Why? Thauvin signed for them in january but this summer, as his profile kept rising due to his good season, the WC u21, he saw Marseille getting interested in him and he decided he didnt want to go Lille anymore. He justified it as Lille deceiving him, since they promised him a project led by Garcia, who is now gone to Roma.

It's absolutely ridiculous, he hadnt even played a single minute with Lille but he wanted to be sold already to Marseille. Lille said he was going nowhere, and they have been fighting about it for weeks now. His entourage completely messed up his mind.

That's why you hear that Lille wont sell him to marseille but would do it to a team outside of France. He is a dummy as far as im concerned, this shit will catch up to him down the line one way or another and i have stopped expecting anything from that kid.
