laxman363 wrote:The deal is great for villa's perspective.May be villa forced that he wnts to stay in athletico as it is a spanish club and is playing in d champions league nxt season n moreover he will get more playing time in madrid as they need a striker desperately
N spurs hav adebayor n defoe already
They wud hav played him on lw as avb plays 4-3-3 quite often. But barca should not have let him go for such less amount simply on villa's wish. athletico have sold falcao for 60 something and they dont have 10 m for a replacement. Surely a joke barca agreed for 5m.
Ade and Defoe are jokes and if Villa came to Tottenham he would not be going to play LW.
iirc due to third party ownership, Atletico received very little (if any?) money from Falcao's move to Monaco.
I have no idea who Oliver Torres is.

CBarca wrote:Apparently the fee and personal terms for Villa to Tottenham were agreed, and he was going to have a medical soon in London. But then Atletico came calling and well, a big Spanish team near his hometown in his home country and CL...he must have been swayed that he'd rather go there instead. Which makes sense.
Barca letting him go for such a low fee does not, however.
Excellent comments. You seem to have solved at least part of the mystery. If we agreed to such a low fee as a thank you gesture towards Villa then I suppose I can accept it.

If that's the case then why was it thought to be that Atletico had used all the money from Aguero's sale on the purchase of Falcao? If they are not getting much money now then surely they didn't spend much then either, right?
Re: Transfer Rumours
After some reading I've found I am mistaken, but the general idea is the same.
Atletico payed 18 million euros for Falcao and got around 40% of him from what I'm reading. With this in mind, of the 60 million euros Falcao went for, assuming Atletico receive 40% of the transfer fee, they received 24 million euros.
This leaves 6 million euros net. Which, funnily enough, is quite close to David Villa's transfer fee

I don't understand why we should have any kind of gesture towards Villa. He got 21 milion in wages from us this last 3 years and he is a young milionaire. Nothing wrong in pushing him to get a decent transfer.

Re: Transfer Rumours
i don know why people believe what ever press says and over react. people talk like they were there when Totenham offered 10 m for Villa.......what source make you so sure that we had better offer than Atletico made....
I am sure either no one had concrete offer or Villa wanted to be in Atletico. Most important here is probably not only the offer of the club but whether they were willing to pay him 11 m a year. If totenham are unwilling to offer that and so villa refuse them, i dont see hpw this is a bad deal for us. now we recieve ~5 m and save 11m a year.
Ofcourse the biggest flaw if there any is salary rise from next season....

Re: Transfer Rumours
We don't receive 5 milion, we receive 2,1, and maybe 2 more, and maybe 1 more.
Clubs didn't have to pay him 11 milion a year, he had only one year of contract, so getting 2 or 3 years at 7 milion is much more than one at 11.

Can you think of any reason at all why we have allowed him to go for so little money?

Atletico is now rubbing salt in our wounds.

Because our club is run by monkeys. This summer is proving to be A serious dent to the 'at least rosell is financially sound' argument.messixaviesta wrote:free_cat wrote:I don't understand why we should have any kind of gesture towards Villa. His father has confirmed that David strongly preferred a Spanish move and that Barca facilitated the exit as a favir.

Out of curiosity, If you lose Cesc, will you sign another midfielder?

Lose Cesc? To who? Do you have any inside information?

I'd imagine we would since we're probably losing Thiago regardless of Cesc or not.

Re: Transfer Rumours
Óliver Torres would be a great signing (but not at this age). I watched him a summer ago in UEFA Under-19 Championship and he impressed me more than the rest of the team, despite being younger than his counterparts. He is a fantastic passer and has great technique and vision. He is young and raw and sometimes he tried to impress, but I'm positive that as he matures he will become a fantastic midfielder. He can play deep and also more advance (more suited to AM imo), he's even played on the wings for Atlético because of his dribbling and pace.
Let me warn though, he is not replacement for Thiago. Barcelona need to do their utmost best to keep him. You should give him 100% rights to leave if he wants to though, I could feel mistreated if I were him.

Re: Transfer Rumours
What do you guys think about Héctor Moreno, Espanyol's Mexican CB? He played for Mexico in the 2013 Confederations Cup and also has been Espanyol's star player in the past couple of seasons. He is very good on the ball and brings some much-needed height to your short defence.
He could be one of those great bargains, as opposed of paying €40 million for an overrated player like Agger who spends half the season watching the game from the stands.

Re: Transfer Rumours
He has his moments of brilliance but not very consistent.
Can't see Barcelona buying him.

Pretty obvious to me that Rosell wants a Brazilian
Silva, Marquinhos and Luiz..... take your pick but its pretty obvious the angle he is trying to pursue.

RealGunner wrote:n extraordinary scandal is erupting after Roma threatened legal action against a radio station that aired private conversations between their directors.
The Giallorossi released a statement this evening warning they would take legal action against anyone who committed the “crime” of illegally intercepting a phone call.
The conversation between director of sport Walter Sabatini and general manager Claudio Fenucci was apparently recorded because one of the two men forgot to hang up the phone after they had spoken to the asromaradio.it staff for an interview.
Because of that, the radio station released its own statement pointing out “if a director leaves his phone on after a conversation and we hear him when he’s talking to someone else, it is certainly not our fault.” They have in turn threatened legal action against Roma.
In amongst all this, the content of the conversation has fallen by the wayside, but will be of great interest to Giallorossi supporters.
Sabatini explained to Fenucci that he had clearly ordered Pablo Daniel Osvaldo to begin pre-season training with the squad on Tuesday with everyone else rather than on Friday.
He noted this was because he wanted Osvaldo to receive the insults that other players had when arriving at the training camp this morning.
Sabatini hoped that the abuse would push Osvaldo towards accepting a move to Southampton, which he had otherwise turned down.
The Italy international is currently on vacation in Chicago.
In the conversation, the directors also let slip that Barcelona target Marquinhos would be sold immediately if the offer reached €25m plus commission for his agents.
It was also noted that Daniele De Rossi is on the market for the right price.

I guess we never offered 32m then

Honestly, if you make thiago silva happen by somehow passing the barriers of PSG's reluctance of supposedly not selling him for 1 bn as they claim and also make thiago alacantra somehow stay i will get my faith restored in Rosell and forget about the villa blunder. Both the tasks i mentioned require great art of negotiating. Rosell, and the management committee, can u do it..??
