Re: The Movie House - Part 3
Either he has kryptonite or he don't. He'll have it win...or he won't have it and he'll lose. There's no middle ground, no uncertainty and it won't make for a good fight scene.
If this is happening they'll play it something like
>Superman goes evil
>Kicks Batman's ass
>Batman somehow obtains Kryptonite
>Kicks Superman's ass.
Can't help but think whatever they plug into this will have a hard time masking the overall structure, which the audience should get fairly easily. Might come off as mechanical.

Go read or watch The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller .... the movie is loosely gonna be based on thatLe Samourai wrote:Either he has kryptonite or he don't. He'll have it win...or he won't have it and he'll lose. There's no middle ground, no uncertainty and it won't make for a good fight scene.

Re: The Movie House - Part 3
Superman's not gonna go evil, this will probably be Batman who is a legend in this universe coming back from retirement to confront the new hero in the block Superman over something that will happen in this new movie, probably framed by Lex Luthor (Bryan Cranston reportedly in talks). Batman is the greatest detective in the world he might discover Superman's weakness to kryptonite or some other way to even the odds and then right after the halfway stage, they team up and take down Lex. At the end one of them (Superman) will sugges that they should be a permanent team and the other (Batman) will say that two of them are not enough, hinting at Justice League.

Read the Wikipedia page, I repent for my cardinal sin of underestimating DC comics
Casting will be difficult though, I mean Joker and Dent almost seems too soon.

Generally Batman has a piece of kryptonite because Superman gives it to him, as insurance against the possibility of Supes being mind-controlled, affected by other colors of the kryptonite, or just plain turning evil.

I don't think it will be like that tbh, Superman was hardly in that film, the only thing they could take inspiration from would be the fight scene. It is a Superman film first and foremost, so I doubt they will use The Dark Knight Returns as source materialButt wrote:You should really watch Dark Knight Returns, will give you a glimps into what your about to get in SvBLe Samourai wrote:Read the Wikipedia page, I repent for my cardinal sin of underestimating DC comics

They have already been talks with Frank Miller, so there will be elements from that, for example Batman being older and seasonal crimefighterFreeza wrote:Yeah that's I'm talking about the same series, Superman is hardly in it. Re: The Movie House - Part 3
Would be good imo opinion to center the movie around Batman. And I don't know about Frank Miller, I'm pretty sure he hates Superman, so it would be weird to have him write a superman sequel. And even though I'm not crazy about Superman, I still feel like he has to have a movie that can show him from his daily life as Clark Kent. And btw Amy Adams as Lois Lane is quite weird imo, she is a great actress, but ffs she's like 10 years older than Cavill. Also i've always thought of Lois Lane as a very sexy woman, and Amy Adams just doesn't do that for me despite her being a great actress.

Re: The Movie House - Part 3
I agree I do see Affleck more as Bruce Wayne than Batman, but he did get shredded enough for The Town.
Plus, Affleck is not a small dude by any means. He's 3 inches taller than Cavill with a naturally bigger build.
The only thing he'll need to deliver is more of that dark realism of Batman to play well of the boy scout of Superman.
Can anyone think of a movie where Affleck's face didn't give off that happy go lucky vibe? I can only think of these movies: The Town, Hollywoodland (funny playing Superman/George Reeves), and Boiler Room.

The World's End was certainly something of a departure from the previous two parts of the Cornetto trilogy. Still quite enjoyable though.

Trance
A quite different movie. It is a psychological thriller exploring the use of hypnotism. Stars James McAvoy who does a good job as always and Rosario Dawson. I quite enjoyed it, because it was something different for me.
My rating: 7/10
The Iceman
Michael Shannon very true and strong performance. It is a thriller about a man who does the dirty work of another. He does it all to provide for his family. But has you who'd guessed it, yes, things turn around later in the movie and soon he's profession is a danger for his family.
My rating: 7.3/10
Man of Steel
Well what can I say. Brilliant production. Brilliant visuals. But mediocre storytelling. No outstanding performances. Too much action and explosions near the end and the movie lost its character storytelling and its emotion. Compared to Nolan's batman movies. Well it is nothing near them. Compared to Batman Begins it doesn't invoke that darkness and that emotional edge that Nolan's first batman movie does. And plus Michael Shannon as the villain just did not do it for me. He is a good actor and I'm a fan of his. But he as a villain in a superhero movie will never work, imo. I expected more, I didn't expect it to be at the same level of the batman trilogy, but still I expected it to be a little closer to it and it's not.
My rating: 6.9/10
The Great Gatsby
Well I hope my fondness for DiCaprio hasn't had an affect for my viewing and rating of this movie.
I promised myself I wouldn't read the book before this I watch this movie. Just so I won't judge Luhrmann's style, as many said that he wouldn't do the book justice. So yeah where can I start. The visuals is amazing and DiCaprio's acting is, as usual, outstanding. No one better could've played Jay Gatsby. The other stand out actor was Joel Edgerton. Plus Tobey Maguire did his job just well. The female actors weren't that outstanding for me. Okay well on the storytelling. I think Luhrmann focused on that. He did it well. The emotion could easily be felt. And he, with Leo's acting, portrayed the story behind Jay and his love for Daisy very, very well. I loved this movie because, despite it's over the top parties and fireworks, it delivers in it's storytelling and emotion (and that's what I look for most in movies). I can say that it is the best movie I've watched from this year.

On whether Leonardo DiCaprio's performance can get him that elusive Best Actor Oscar
I haven't seen a lot of very good performances in a lead role from movies of this year. I think there will be better to come near the end of the year. I think, as for now, this performance should be nominated and he might just scoop up that Oscar. But as I said, there will be better performances still to come. Plus I think he will have more of a chance with his character in The Wolf of Wall Street to win the Oscar.

Re: The Movie House - Part 3
I'm a huge fan of DiCaprio, yet his acting has become quite predictable. No matter what role you now slot him in, he doesn't variate his technique, mannerisms or method. His core technique is quite deep and well refined, yet every films I'm seeing now of him, no matter what performance, you can always tell apart that it is DiCaprio and not his intended role.
Scorsese needs to stop thinking he'll even be 1/10th of De Niro, despite Leo being a very good actor.

Re: The Movie House - Part 3
The Lord of the Rings trilogy
OK, so when I was younger and whenever LOTR came on on tv, I would check it out quickly and be like: "WTF is this shit? Talking trees and ugly orcs fighting wars. This is not my thing." Totally oblivious to what the genre fantasy meant.
Fast forward to present time... And what I thought is a long drenched-out nonsense trilogy, is an absolute masterpiece.
Three brilliant films of great visuals, great score and an epic adventurous story to it. I haven't watched a lot of trilogies. I thought Nolan's batman trilogy will forever be my favourite. However, when I finished The Return of the King today. I was so amazed. It was 4 hours long, but the film took me in a tight grasp and never let go. It was brilliantly directed by Peter Jackson. Just so, so that it finishes off the story very well. Maybe credit should go to the author of the books there. But still massively great job done by Jackson over all 3 films. In a trilogy, the first one is usually the best, and as it goes on to the 2nd and the 3rd, the quality just gets weaker. But this is not the case in LOTR. I felt it just got better every single time.
As I said the third film really made it for me. It was absolutely phenomenal. I was an emotional wreck in that last 40 or so minutes. Not that the first two weren't that great, but something that the third one had is that little more emotion, plus Elijah Wood really came into is own and did the character, Frodo, justice. Viggo Mortensen also had a great performance in this one. And I loved the character Sam. Always there by Frodo's side. Helping him, and just always giving him that extra courage, hope and strength to complete their task. So many intriguing characters that a fantasy film/novel can create. One of them of course, Gullom/Smeagol. The ugly old fecker! LoL, but he played an important role in the trilogy. It is now my favourite trilogy of all time. And I certainly don't regret that I forced myself into watching something which I thought was a lot of crap.
My ratings:
The Fellowship of the Ring - 8.2/10
The Two Towers - 8.2/10
The Return of the King - 9.0/10
I'm not usually generous in my ratings, but these films truly deserve them high ratings. I rarely give 9+/10. To date I have only given 4 films that honour.
