Yep, the core gameplay HAS to be great because all of those little 'moments' are only good the first couple of times before they become tedious.

That's why when I see E3 footage and all that of something really big happening in a game like driving a truck into a building and blowing it up I think

"Yeah, fair enough. But how many times is that going to happen in the game?"

you can say that about every single sandbox though, mechanics get stale when you play hundreds of hours of something, that's just how it works... shit even surfing planes into buildings in just cause gets boring when you do it enough

that's where the story comes in that keeps you stuck in the game, which watch dogs didn't have

The fancy elements don't have longevity so the story and core gameplay has to be great for it to be a great game

i'm saying that not even the core gameplay can redeem it after a certain point... even gta gets boring once you finish the story and successfully create your entry to the most creative genocide contest

First Assassin's Creed was crap too, i'm hoping Ubisoft will make up for it in their second attempt.

Thank god they're moving on from Aiden Pearce though, no character in video game's history can top him in term of blandness.

More bland than the AC3 main character

Watch Dogs 2 will launch on Tuesday, 15th November and be set in San Francisco.

That's according to marketing material visible on IGN - which has gone live early, ahead of tomorrow's official 5pm reveal.

Imagery shows a new protagonist standing in front of San Fran's Golden Gate Bridge. It matches lead character art posted to Instagram by his mo-cap artist last month.

The release date is also shown - it's a Tuesday, and likely a worldwide date. As expected, it's also in the traditional Assassin's Creed release slot.

Anyone got Legion? I impulse bought it and I don't quite regret my choice yet. Though it is really difficult to beat the cops when you get 'Wanted', and the driving is atrocious.

Avoiding until Ubisoft fix the performance, heard it runs like crap on PC, can't even get 60fps with a 2080 Ti on 4K.

I'm getting around 60 FPS with a 2080 Ti on 2560 × 1440 (not quite 4K) but only when running it from SSD. On HHD I had lots of performance problems.

What a terrible waste of money. Another typical Ubisoft game; starting out really strong and after a couple of hours becoming the same borefest, lifeless game with lots of repeated missions that are just 'go to X, do Y, go to Z'.

As someone who studied in London, the city itself has been beautifully captured in this game but prepared to get bored to death once that novelty wears off. Ubisoft games don't respect the gamer's time at all. The game is all flash and no substance with loads of repeats for the sake of quantity over quality, made for 12 year olds with no expectations and lots of time on their hands to kill.

I keep telling myself never to buy a Ubisoft again and every time I get fooled by the trailers like a 12 year old boy FFS

Thoughts on AC Valhalla? think it will be a bigger grindfest than Odyssey tbh.

Not sure i'd want to go through 50 hours of drab storytelling again.

Ubisoft has turned from the anti-EA to quantum fold worse than them in every possible way. At least EA comes out with occasional gems and don't pretend to give a fuck about their audience.

Ubisoft has NO sense of presentation, license, production value (given all the money they have) or anything remotely original.

They lost me based on the direction they went with the Splinter Cell franchise and Valhalla doesn't even look better than Witcher 3 despite it being Next gen and having over 7 years on it.

Far Cry 3 is what sums them up. Decently tuned gameplay, occasional moments of brilliance, looks good visually (only on the surface) but as a whole, repetitive, mirthless, not repayable at all and not memorable in the least bit.

Ubisoft Montreal was their saving grace and even they have gone to shit.

Steer clear. Worst company of all time.
