Sleeping Dogs

So who else has it? Biggest sleeper hit of the year for me, 100 times better than Just Cause and Saints Row. Activision

Great game. Awesome storyline so far. And the side missions really keep you occupied. On top of that, action hi-jacks, slow-mo gun play, and tight fighting mechanisms. Been hooked ever since the crack came out


Also..and I just noticed this today..but my torrent speeds normally max out at around 1.2 mb/s . When I'm playing the game though, it peaks at over 5 mb/s !!! I'm guessing this has something to do with how the game automatically blocks connections to the social hub. Now, that's what I call a loophole

If any of you is playing the pirated version, lemme knw if this happens to you as well ( you might just not be aware of it )

How big is the sandbox? and Can you drive with choppers and planes?

Sandbox is pretty large. Nothing close to SA or Just Cause 2, but it isn't small by any means. One thing to note is that the environment is very detailed. Whereas in SA and JC2, you have large open areas of desert/jungle..the Sleeping Dogs sandbox is cluttered with buildings and roads, so its not easy to compare. But it's definitely not a bad thing

And no choppers or planes. Mainly bikes and cars, and one mission with a boat ( so far ). There's a good concept of buying cars to have access to them in the garage, which really encourages you to earn money by playing side missions. You can jack any car, but to permanently have access to it, you gotta buy it.

Playing Open World games that isn't made by Rockstar

Get ready to be Mole. I was feeling the exact same as you, hell I did'nt even buy it, my brother did. But this is a great game, best open world game that isn't Rockstar since...well since...

Apart from Borderlands the only games that are even close to open world that have not been made by Rockstar i like are Assassins Creed 2 and Arkham City and they are not open world really.

So i'm very sceptical against any non-Rockstar open world game, but your not the only one who is giving this game some good rep so i might consider it.

The Saboteur by Pandemic Studios. Now there's a great non-rockstar sandbox game.

What was the last great open world game that Rockstar made ?

Gta 4 wasn't great. L.A Noire doesn't really count since it wasn't an open world. So it would have to be Red Dead Redemption.

That said, Red Dead still butt rapes any open world game out there (imo). I'd sooner have a Red Dead 2 instead of Gta 5.

GTA 4 was great IMO it just wasn't as crazy as San Andreas, the world was still great and the whole theme was a more mature based game instead of a more younger vibe like Saints Row etc etc.

I think the hype is what makes people say things like it wasn't great etc etc.

Looking at it from face value it was a great game IMO.

Agree on Red Dead it's not just one of my favourite games of this generation but of all time.

Also, you're right about the comparison btwn GTA4 and SA. GTA4 wouldn't get as much slack if it weren't for SA setting such a high bar. But it did..and while GTA4 had a gripping storyline..it didn't have much in the way of pure, high octane fun. I'm not hating for it being so serious..but I've been playing GTA ever since them 2d, birds eye view, games on the PC..and they've all had an element of crazy..which GTA4 sorely missed.

Trust me..one game that most people have missed out on was The Saboteur. That game had it all ( tits !), and still ranks in my top 5. Ok maybe top 10. But still....tits ! and not weird oblong shaped tits that you saw in the first Getaway. Decently designed ones. Hi five !

FYI : Sleeping Dogs is a remake of True Crime, I think. Anyone remember those games ? I think they were the first to try and rip off the GTA formula

In other news...next game on my list is Dishonored and Hitman. Whichever comes out first

Agreed, i still think it was a great game but it was missing the fun factor hopefully GTA V has the balance of both worlds.

After seeing the gameplay, what I really like about the game is atmosphere, looks nice and colorful. Might give it a try in future.

GTA 4 was meh imo

GTA 4 was GOAT. On par if not better than RDR. That bank robbery mission

what really should amaze you at this game is the fighting system

which is miles better than gta iv, i would consider it for being even better than batman arkham's or on par with it

This game is actually True Crime 3. It's development codename was Black Lotus and was officially unveiled as True Crime: Hong Kong by Activision. Then Activision cancelled it but Square Enix bought it but did not buy the rights to the True Crime name and so the name was changed to Sleeping Dogs.

This game is really good, I thought this will be just another GTA wannabe scrub but man I was wrong. My bro made the right decision buying it

I'm shocked at how good it is. I think I'm enjoying it more than GTA 4, lol.

The story is actually pretty good and it balances it with top notch FUN gameplay without taking itself too serious or being balls to the walls like Saints Row, which I'm not a fan of. It has a good balance. Take note, Rockstar.

I got so wrapped up in the story. Great narrative and gameplay.
