Re: Watch Dogs
It looks to be on the same level as Sleeping Dogs when comparing the ratings and I liked Sleeping Dogs a lot. Changed my mind, will get this after exams.

First impressions from those who've played it?
I'm picking it up once I'm off of work.

Yea it's kind of "push one button to start hacking" type, since you like easy games i think you'll find it enjoyable.

Agreed about the driving. Only played a couple hours, but other than that, great game so far.
Spent like half that time just checking out random peoples information, and hacking bank accounts. Managed to get $1480 from some rich guy.

Re: Watch Dogs
seems like a decent game, can already tell it's not going to live up to the hype that surrounded it but it's enjoyable, controls, graphics, shooting mechanics etc, all good, driving & vehicles are pretty bad, online a bit confusing and I can see it getting boring fast if the invasion hackings are all it is (all i've experienced so far) setting seems kinda meh too. seems like a decent amount of side content but I wonder how long it'll be until it starts feeling recycled and repetitive, they're what you find in all open world games, gang hideouts, stopping crimes, etc.

Re: Watch Dogs
I'm on the fence when it comes to this game. I have not been impressed by what I've seen of it lately. All that hacking comes across a bit gimmicky, and the graphics, mechanics doesnt really scream next gen. With that being said, I may rent it. If I like it I will buy it.

Re: Watch Dogs
Anyone get how the multiplayer works? I still have no fckin clue.
I understand the uplay servers are acting up (surprise surprise). But anyone manage to get into a multiplayer decryption match and if you did was it with friends?
I'm trying to join with a buddy of mine and just be put on a team. I hate multiplayer games that have no lobbies it's such a joke.

Re: Watch Dogs
Fun game so far with some cool elements but I can see it getting boring after a while. I know Ubisoft want Watch Dogs to be as big a franchise as Assassin's Creed, but I doubt it a lot.
Story elements, the plot, the inside jokes, the characters are not on par with GTA. I'm a big fan of GTA's dark humour.
The engine is less clunky than GTA's, you are more 'free' to do things. Driving can be a bit tricky but it is quite realistic. Lots of side missions and collectibles to keep you going for a good few months.

How good is the story? Story is what made Sleeping Dogs so special.

Watch Dogs had the highest first day sales of any Ubisoft title ever, apparently. So yeah, it will be a massive franchise, expect yearly installments.
@M99, story is interesting enough but nothing amazing, it's all about hacking and blackmail basically..some cool characters.
Driving has grown on me now, you can't bomb around the roads, definitely reminiscent of sleeping dogs.
all in all it's a decent game, I'm about 75% done, I have the final act to finish (I've almost exclusively been playing the campaign, the open world isn't that great, you get punished for going on rampages and the cop chases get tedious fast, there isn't that much incentive to explore from what i've seen)
I expect they'll improve on it like they did assassins creed, like that it has a lot of cool ideas and stuff, just needs to be refined. I really like the game mechanics though, love getting into shootouts and mixing it up with infiltration and stealth.

Re: Watch Dogs
First day sales are rarely a measure of how long lasting a franchise can be. On the contrary, these sales are a sign of how well the hype machine has worked. If the game doesn't live up to the expectations it will lose its longevity.
For me the in-game mechanics, the whole hacking thing, while has a cool new shiny toy factor, it gets boring towards the end of the game. How are Ubisoft going to keep things interesting for the next instalments is the real question they'll have to ask themselves. I don't think more of the same will work, they'll need to come up with something new, or hype the next game to death again.

I personally won't pay €60 but if you can get it for cheap, it is a steal. I got mine for €23 (PC download) which I think is a fair price.

Soul wrote:With all the hype and promotion it was bound to be overrated.
Which is all i ever said, never said it will be crap just that it would never live up to the pre concieved hype and sounds like it hasn't.
Which sounds like Assassins Creed 1 in a way, some great ideas but not really executed properly kinda expect Watch Dogs to follow the same path.

Re: Watch Dogs
got this game yesterday,
its quite a good game...... so much activities and all, yes graphics don't match the ones you saw on the hype train but its still good graphics......
game is very hard though, I mean it takes a little missed shot and the cops are called on you (if you haven't got the disable call hack yet)
my problem with this game like everybody is the driving, this game requires a lot of driving and the problem is not the way the car handles but the amount of damn cars on the streets I mean considering mistakenly knocking down a pedestrian counts on the opinion the npcs have of you they should reduce the fkn damn cars on the road....
also every damn car accelerates Ferrari style
considering sometimes a slow car is the difference between escaping the damn cops (who are effing as good as CIA agents or something I don't even know)
but all in all this is the first of the franchise so it can get better, also why is it that on a free roam beating the red light on the traffic doesn't warrant a ticket or a cop chase, I mean with the traffic hack I thought they'd implement something like that you know.... hopefully in the next game hey put in something like getting tickets or running the red light cos that'd make it quite more realistic....
personal rating: 7/10......

Great.
My game is glitched with the "load screen stuck at 90%". There is nothing I can do I till Ubisoft addresses this issue in a patch or if I decide to start a new game... *bleep* that.

Gamespot.com wrote:A new movie called 18.11 is blatantly copying Watch Dogs
Bollywood has a history of imitating popular video game releases in its movies and promotional materials for those movies. Ek Tha Tiger, for example, bears more than a passing resemblance to Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series, and Velayutham is pretty much just Assassin’s Creed with awesome dancing.
As IndianVideoGamer notes (via Kotaku), those movies came out long after the games they resemble, but a new Bollywood movie, 18.11, is already copying Watch Dogs in its posters, as you can see in the image above.
If you’ll watch the trailer below you’ll notice that the actual movie doesn’t look much like Watch Dogs at all other than making reference to some “extraordinary software,” which evokes the game’s hacking themes.
