Cut scenes in FF7 were amazing themselves and it came out in 1997.
Won't post videos though since all of them have heavy spoilers

Oh and RG this isn't using the FFXV engine, it's running on Unreal 4 apparently.

Yea heard that. U4 is amazing though so it's not a bad thing.
They rebuilt Aeris' house using U4 engine and it looks amazing

Just talking about it brings back dem feels.
I think I'll start a Final Fantasy hardcore session these days until new year. Trying to complete 7, 8 and 9, without spending too much time on powering up and finding the best weapons and items though (normally I'm very thorough with that). Just to live through the stories again.

It starts off really slow. I got burnt out after only a few hours of playing the game. Picked it up a few weeks later because I didn't want to leave it unfinished, and by the time I completed the game, I didn't think it was that bad after all. It's definitely not for everyone, though. If I remember correctly, RG hardly gave it a chance

It was originally a mobile game, and it definitely has it's limitations on console. I enjoyed certain parts of the game, though. And personally, I really appreciate the darker, more serious approach to Final Fantasy games, as opposed to the more recent ones with upbeat, romantic, pretty-boy/stone personality protagonist and all that uninspired nonsense.

Re: The Official Final Fantasy thread
got it fairly cheap so I'm not too bothered, might not start it for a while but I heard it was 'better' than the lightning games, especially the story, graphically looks poor in gameplay videos, hopefully I can look past that, I know it was a PSP game or w/e before.the fact it isn't turned based appealed to me tbh.

Yeah.. it's not turn based, but the game mechanics isn't exactly complicated - you just press the same buttons over and over and over again. Shoot/slash, dodge, rinse and repeat. It was pretty neat at first, but it felt repetitive and unimpressive after a while. Also, they included the "press hit at the right moment" feature from Vagrant Story, where you deal extra damage if you attack the enemy within a certain timeframe. Don't expect too much from the story

Re: The Official Final Fantasy thread
Any FF game is better than FF13.
Type 0 is an old fashioned FF game with new style combat. Basically Crisis Core but story not as good.
I found Type 0 quite boring. Voice acting was great and characters all looked interesting too. But the game itself felt like a chore after a while for some reason.
I didn't drop it, but thought i'd get back someday. Might join you if you start playing it firenze.

Re: The Official Final Fantasy thread
Final Fantasy XV has been in development for what seems like an eternity. But being New Year's Eve (or Day, depending on where you live), changes are afoot: Final Fantasy XV and its all-dude bro'd-trip will release in 2016. The news comes by way of a Square Enix blog post written by none other than the game's director, Hajime Tabata. "In development, previous phases required wisdom and strength," he writes. "However, moving toward the final phase will focus on effort and willpower." Sure!
Will probably be Christmas 2016

Final Fantasy XV Utilizes Umbra’s Technology to Improve Frame-Rate Performance
Final Fantasy XV’s Luminous Engine utilizes Umbra’s visibility optimization technology — the engine has been specifically designed to allow the game to have high density, polygon rendering performance. Umbra’s technology is ensuring that only the visible objects in every frame are being processed and rendered, the end result being optimized performance ensuring the best possible graphics and frame-rate.
“By using Umbra, frame-rate performance could be improved over two times than before in characteristic scenes. The tool is extremely easy to use with a simple API build that allows paralleling computation to be handled with ease as well,” says Final Fantasy XV development team.
Umbra is a Helsinki based company that was founded in 2006 which has been powering up graphics performance in more than 100 video games during the last 10 years. Their clients include internationally renowned game studios that have produced commercially successful AAA productions such as Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Batman Arkham Knight, Quantum Break, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Destiny.

Might not mean much to you guys but I am pretty sure FF15 will be the most aesthetically pleasing game ever in the current gen. Noticed that already in the demo because using that many polygons and still seeing it as smooth as real life was promising.

Re: The Official Final Fantasy thread
Do you guys really think any game will be more aesthetically pleasing than The Order 1886, in the near future? I'm not convinced that FFXV will look even nearly as good. Granted, it's a far more expansive game.

Open world game then
Although I need my memory refreshed as to me Uncharted 4 looks better than the Order
Or at least what I remember the Order looking like.

The Order was such a crap game, but I do remember certain scenes looking super life-like. So life-like, in fact, that someone who walked in while we were playing it, asked us what movie we were watching

Re: The Official Final Fantasy thread
I honestly haven't seen anything that comes close to The Order 1886, graphics-wise (on console). Not only do characters look, move and behave very realistically, but the lighting effects and all of the small details in the game are just spot on. It's really a shame that the game itself is such a shallow and sub-par experience.

Re: The Official Final Fantasy thread
Only strings i can tell is you get to unlock something from completing the demo that is only available in the main game if you do so.
Other than that it's a free demo, obviously will need confirmation from Square but that's what is being reported.
