The Official Final Fantasy thread
rincon wrote:Wasn't that just a tech demo? like when they did the tech demo of ff7 on the ps3 or ff8 on the ps2.
Well, they actually opened up a site for Agni's Philosophy, and that site's been up for over 5 years, already. Also, I don't know why they'd put that much effort into something that only serves as a tech demo, lol. I mean, comparatively the FF7 one was basically just Cloud jumping off a train and the camera zooming in on his face.

Has anyone played type-0? Heard great things and just got it now on sale for cheap. Will play next month when I'm back home.
Stopped playing after 2 hours in. Mediocre game. Boring combat. Boring characters.

Similarly to Nier: Automata, I had already played through a good chunk of the game before I started feeling that the game was actually worth playing through to the end. The first few hours of the game did not impress me much, and I was actually quite bored at times - but the one positive thing I noticed was that the combat, for better or worse, felt refreshingly different and more real-time than in other FF games - at least, that was my initial impression.
Once I actually started caring about the story, the combat had already gotten pretty repetitive. I tried to make things more interesting by switching out to different characters, but the combat system is just so simple that it basically boils down to button mashing, regardless of which characters you use. It's a shame, because there are a lot of characters to choose from - all of which wield different weapons. There is some level of depth to the combat, like how some characters have special attacks that work better in certain situations, and some weapons have different range proficiencies, which is something you'll want to take into consideration before picking your go-to team.
It's been a while since I played it, and I honestly don't remember that much from the game, but I do remember that I enjoyed it more towards the end of it. The first few hours weren't anything to write home about, to be honest. I appreciate the darker atmosphere of FF: Type-0, I think the soundtrack is good, and the story did eventually make me want to continue playing, but the character and story progression are really slow and I think the game suffers from being designed for mobile devices. Anyways, it's been a while since I've played it, and I'm sure you'll have a different impression of the game, Rincon. In many ways, Type-0 feels more similar to the older FF games, and I think that's a good thing. I wonder what the game would've looked like if it had been designed for consoles, rather than being ported from mobile devices.

Re: The Official Final Fantasy thread
That was a good read. I'll give it a try, saw it for 10$ so I decided to get it.
I have too many games that I wanna play right now. Uncharted 4, Crash and type-0 plus the burning sensation that ff12 remake is out.
@firenze it looks great. The game is a masterpiece for me, it was ahead of its time. Now it seems like they put a lot effort to make it even better and all the changes hit home from what I've seen. I think it's the type of game that you'll like, VERY expansive RPG with so much quality gameplay packed in.

Crisis core was a top 3 psp game tbh. The ending made you feel more for Zack than Cloud ffs.

Crisis Core was fantastic. The music is GOAT too. I was so impressed by how well they made the story for us to get that involved in a plot we already knew the ending to.

Re: The Official Final Fantasy thread
It pissed me off so much that
- Spoiler:
You had no control over Zack when he was fighting the last battle (where he dies). Obviously it had to be that way but i was raging lmao. Give me the control and i'll eat them all alive ffs.
And then the ending Train scene and Aerith waiting for zack

Re: The Official Final Fantasy thread
Hmm
The more I think about FF15 (had a deep thought about it last night), the more I think the game was really really poor. It just drops down a point each time i remember it. At this point I am going to stop thinking about it otherwise it's going below 6/10.

I was thinking the same thing when it released, legit thought it was GOTY
But looking at it now, its not a game i want to replay, very repetitive, and the boy band stuff is overrated, its like typical anime character personalities.
I mean your main character is Sasuke ffs
But yeah, now that i think about it..i kinda think i had more fun in XIII..

It's a 6.5/10 to me. Pretty much everyone I've spoken to at length about it (fanboys of FF) find it to be an incredibly mediocre game.
Biggest waste of potential in gaming history. Has the foundations to be GOTG. Should have been a 9.5/10.

The soundtrack is amazing though. One of the best ever. If not for that it'd be a 5/10.

Re: The Official Final Fantasy thread
you got a fav track? would be hard for me, might post a top 3 later.
Somnus is a classic though, play that quite often. Also Valse Di Fantastica and the Skyrim ripoff variants.

yup
smh
never seen anything like this with a single player game, surprised they haven't had a class action lawsuit against them, think it's needed to curb shit like this happening in the future

You were too busy saying how amazing it was at release for that to happen tbh.
As CoD and FIFA consistently prove, if you release without as much as bullshit as possible nobody will care.
Nobody is gonna rage about a year old game.

I'm pretty sure it's free. They also released an online feature for the game recently, and there's been a few limited time events that I checked for a brief moment - Assassin's Creed, Moogle Festival etc - not my cup of tea. Only reason I haven't deleted the game off my HD is because I got the season pass edition of the game as a christmas present from my cousin Guess I'll check out Ignis' chapter before I do so.
